Chapter 35 - CHAPTER 35: Who approved this commitee?

Back at the mansion, the rooftop glow slowly faded into a softer warmth as the group moved indoors. Laughter still lingered in the air, carrying the excitement of the proposal like a sweet melody that refused to end.

Inside Hansen's mansion, the dining room had already been transformed almost like magic.

Candles lined the long table. Fresh flowers sat in elegant vases. Soft golden lighting made everything feel intimate, almost unreal. Sunshine paused at the doorway.

"Hansen… when did all this—?"

He stepped beside her, slipping his hand into hers.

"While you were at work," he teased gently. "Lucas was running around like a headless chicken and Ciara was supervising like a strict general."

"Hey!" Lucas shouted from the table. "I was strategic!" Ciara rolled her eyes. "Please. You tripped over a flower pot twice."

The maidens burst into laughter.

Sunshine shook her head, smiling through lingering tears. "You people are unbelievable." Hansen pulled out her chair for her. "Sit, fiancée."

That word alone made her pause.Fiancée.

She looked up at him, eyes softening again.

"You're going to make me emotional all night, aren't you?"

"Probably," he admitted, sitting beside her.

The food was served shortly after an elegant mix of dishes, but at the center was Mama Cruz's famous Alfredo pasta, delivered earlier like a blessing wrapped in foil.

Sunshine gasped when she saw it.

"You kept it warm?"

Hansen nodded. "I told them nothing gets touched until you sit down."

Ciara raised a glass of juice. "A toast!"

Lucas followed immediately. "To love! To chaos! To Hansen finally proposing before I lost my patience!"

"Lucas!" everyone laughed.

Ciara continued, smiling warmly.

"To Sunshine… our light… and to Hansen, who somehow survived loving her."

Sunshine laughed, wiping her eyes. "That sounds like I'm dangerous."

Hansen leaned closer. "You are."

As everyone ate and chatted, Sunshine felt Hansen's hand gently find hers under the table. She turned to him softly.

"You did all this… just for me?" He squeezed her hand. "For us." Her heart softened completely.

"I still can't believe it happened so fast…"

Hansen smiled. "It didn't happen fast. I've been choosing you… every day."

That made her go quiet. Her fingers tightened around his. "I choose you too," she whispered.

Lucas suddenly stood on the chair.

"Okay announcement, after dinner, we are planning the wedding!"

Ciara groaned. "Lucas, please sit down."

"I refuse! This is a historical moment!"

One of the maidens threw a bread roll at him. "Sit DOWN, uncle Lucas!"

The table erupted into laughter again.

Sunshine covered her face, laughing so hard she leaned into Hansen's shoulder.

"You see what you're marrying into?" Lucas teased Hansen.

Hansen smirked. "I've survived worse."

Sunshine looked up at him.

"You haven't even survived me yet."

He leaned down slightly, voice soft.

"I'm looking forward to it."

As the night deepened, the noise slowly softened into warm conversations and clinking glasses. Sunshine rested her head lightly on Hansen's shoulder. Tired. Happy. Full of love. Hansen kissed her hair gently.

The morning after the celebration dinner, Hansen's mansion was no longer peaceful.

It had officially transformed into a war room of wedding planning.

A long table had been dragged into the living room. Papers, fabric samples, flower brochures, and laptops were scattered everywhere.

At the head of the table sat Mama Cruz, already acting like a chief executive officer.

"Okay," she clapped her hands once. "We start immediately. No distractions. No emotional breakdowns. This wedding must be Perfect."

Sunshine whispered to Hansen, "We are in trouble." Hansen nodded slowly. "I think we are in a military operation."

Mama Cruz, the general overseer pointed at everyone like a commander.

"Ciara, you are in charge of decorations. Lucas, you are banned from touching anything fragile. Kane, you are security. Valerie.."

Valerie raised her hand excitedly. "Flower girl and assistant planner!"

Mama Cruz smiled. "Approved."

Lucas gasped. "Why am I always banned from things?!"

"Because you break things emotionally and physically," Ciara replied without looking up.

Ciara, the stylist perfectionist flipped through magazines dramatically. "This wedding will not be ordinary. It must scream elegance. It must whisper luxury. It must...."

Lucas interrupted, chewing a snack. "It must also include food."

Ciara threw a pen at him. "FOCUS!"

Lucas, the unofficial entertainer was sitting backwards on a chair like a rebel.

"I suggest we have fireworks. And maybe live lions. And Hansen can ride in on a horse." Hansen blinked. "Absolutely not."

Valerie clapped. "That sounds fun!"

"Valerie no," Sunshine said immediately.

Kane, the silent bodyguard sat quietly, arms crossed, watching everyone like a serious inspector. "Too loud," he muttered.

Mama Cruz nodded. "Correct. Less noise, more planning."

Lucas leaned over. "Why are you always like this? Are you born 40 years old?"

Kane ignored him completely.

Valerie, the excited heart of the group was jumping between chairs.

"Auntie Sunshine! Can the wedding have pink lights? And butterflies? And music that makes people cry happy tears?"

Sunshine smiled warmly. "Anything you want, sweetheart."

Valerie gasped. "I love weddings!"

Mama Cruz slammed a notebook shut.

"No arguments. The wedding is in one month." Everyone froze.

Lucas choked. "One month?! That's not a wedding, that's a suprise attack!"

Ciara gasped. "Mama Cruz, that is too short for perfection!"

Mama Cruz raised a brow. "Do you want perfection or excuses?"

There was silence. Then, "Perfection," they all said together."

Sunshine leaned into Hansen, whispering, "Are they always like this?"

Hansen nodded. "This is actually calm compared to normal."

She laughed softly. "I feel like I'm marrying into a circus." Hansen smiled, pulling her hand gently into his. "The best kind."

While everyone argued about flowers and venues, Hansen quietly pulled Sunshine aside into the garden. The noise faded behind them.."You okay?" he asked softly.

She nodded, smiling. "More than okay. Just… overwhelmed."

He brushed a strand of hair behind her ear.

"We don't have to rush anything," he said gently. She shook her head. "No… I like the chaos. It feels like family."

Hansen smiled. "That's exactly what it is."

She looked at him softly. "Our family?"

He squeezed her hand. "Ours."

A loud crash sounded from inside.

Lucas shouted, "I didn't break it...it broke itself!"

Ciara screamed, "That was the wedding model cake!"

Mama Cruz shouted, "Lucas, I will remove you from this committee!"

"Can I try the broken piece?" Valerie asked.

"No." Kane answered sharply.

Sunshine and Hansen looked at each other.

Then burst out laughing. And just like that…

The wedding planning had begun in messy, loud, chaotic but full of love.
