Chapter 38 - CHAPTER 38: The wedding day

Morning came softly but not quietly. The air wS soft and new beginnings whispered through the breeze. The entire mansion was alive with movement.

Voices. Footsteps. Laughter. Panic.

"Where is the veil?!" Ciara's voice echoed from upstairs.

"Valerie, don't touch that... "

" oh no, she touched it!" Lucas shouted.

Mama Cruz stood in the middle of it all, commanding like a general.

"Everyone calm down! This is a wedding, not a battlefield!" Kane walked past calmly. "It looks like a battlefield."

Inside the bridal room, everything was calmer. Sunshine sat in front of the mirror… already dressed. Her gown flowed softly around her. Her hair fell perfectly. The pale pink lavender and freesia bouquet rested gently in her hands. She looked… breathtaking. But her fingers trembled slightly.

Mama Cruz walked in quietly. She saw it immediately. "Nervous?" she asked gently.

Sunshine nodded.

"I feel like my heart is racing too fast…"

Mama Cruz smiled and placed her hands on her shoulders. "That's not fear," she said softly. "That's love… waiting."

Sunshine's eyes filled slightly.

"What if I cry too much?" she whispered.

Mama Cruz chuckled. "Then cry. Today is allowed." They both laughed softly.

Valerie burst into the room in her tiny dress.

"AUNTIE SUNSHINE!!!" She stopped mid-run… eyes wide.

"Woah…"She covered her mouth.

"You look like a real princess…"

Sunshine smiled warmly. "And you look like my favorite flower girl."

Valerie ran to hug her carefully.

"I'm going to throw the petals perfectly!" she said proudly. Kane appeared at the door. "Don't trip." Valerie frowned. "I won't!"

At the venue, the grand doors of Hansen's private underground hall were opened to the guests.

"Phones in the basket, please."

One by one, guests surrendered their devices, receiving green tags on their wrists.

"This is operation no distractions, no interruptions, only presence and only love. The guards said and welcomed them with glasses of wine as they stepped inside.

And instantly… jaws dropped. The underground hall had been transformed into a living dream. Fresh blossoms hung from above like a floating garden. Soft petals lined the floors, natural light filtered through hidden panels, making the entire space glow like early morning.

Guest were amazed at the underground.

It felt less like a hall… And more like heaven had come down quietly.

Just as everyone settled, a voice echoed from behind the stage. It was Hansen's.

Soft music followed… and then he began to sing;

"Not sure if you know this…

But when we first met…

I got so nervous I couldn't speak…"

The entire hall went still. Guests exchanged glances surprised, touched.

When Sunshine hears him at the entrance,

She froze. Her breath caught instantly.

Her eyes filled as she recognized the song.

"In that very moment…

I found the one and

My life had found its missing piece…"

Valerie stood ahead in her magenta dress, holding a soft arrangement of pale pink lavender blended delicately with freesia bouquet, gently scattering sweet-scented petals with careful steps.

Behind her walked Ciara, Lettie, and the maidens elegant and glowing. But Sunshine… She couldn't move.

"Mum…" she whispered, her voice trembling.

"Did you tell him? My favorite song…?"

Tears slipped down her cheeks.

"I can't believe he learned all the words…"

Mama Cruz smiled softly, holding her hand.

"Shhhhh… it's a surprise," she whispered.

"And we're almost at the altar."

And so…She walked slowly, gracefully and emotion in every step.Sunshine walked slowly, her heart pounding. The bouquet in her hands. Her dress flowing behind her.

But all she could see was Hansen who was waiting and smiling. His eyes were full with love.

"So as long as I live I'll love you…

Will have and hold you…"

Hansen's voice trembled slightly now.

Because he could see her coming closer.

"You look so beautiful in white…"

He meant every word.

When Sunshine finally reached the altar,

Their eyes met. And nothing else mattered.

Not the guests. Not the decorations. Not even the music. But just them.

"And from now to my very last breath…

This day I'll cherish…" Her tears fell freely now. He smiled through his own.

As the song continued,

"And if our daughter's what our future holds…

I hope she has your eyes…"

Sunshine let out a soft, emotional laugh through her tears. Hansen's voice deepened with meaning.

"I'll walk her down the aisle…

She'll look so beautiful in white…"

The entire hall was overwhelmed.

Some guests wiped tears. Even Lucas looked away, pretending not to be affected.

Ivan shook his head quietly. "This man…"

Mama Cruz gently placed Sunshine's hand into Hansen's. Her voice trembled, but her smile was proud.

"This was supposed to be your father's role…" the officiant said softly,

"But today, your mother has carried both love and strength." The congregation applauded warmly.

Mama Cruz stepped back slowly, her eyes shining with pride and emotion. Hansen held Sunshine's hand firmly and carefully like something sacred.

"You really did all this…" she whispered.

He smiled softly. "For you… always."

"You're… unbelievable," he whispered.

She smiled softly. "You're staring."

"I can't stop."

The officiant smiled. "We are gathered here today…" But their world had already begun.

Hands intertwined with his heart racing and eyes locked unto Sunshine.

"Hansen Grey, do you take Kendra Sunshine Cruz as your wife… for life?"

There was no hesitation. Hansen's lips curved into a confident, love-filled smile.

"It's a BIG YES."

The congregation burst into cheers and laughter, the joy echoing through the hall.

Lucas whistled loudly. "That's my brother!"

Ivan shook his head, smiling. "He didn't even wait one second."

The officiant turned to the bride.

"Kendra Sunshine Cruz, do you take Hansen Grey as your husband… for life?"

Sunshine, already teary, nodded quickly.

"Yes… yes… yes, yes," she replied, her voice soft but full of certainty. The hall melted into soft laughter and warmth.

"Bring the rings." Valerie and Kane stepped forward together. Valerie beaming proudly, Kane composed as ever. They handed over the rings carefully. Hansen slid the ring onto Sunshine's finger, his touch gentle, almost reverent. Sunshine followed, her hands slightly trembling as she placed the ring on his.

"Two promises, one bond. I now pronounce you husband and wife." The room held its breath.

"You may now kiss your bride." The officiant approved.

The cheers erupted instantly.

"HURRAYYYY!!"

"We've been waiting for this!" Hansen didn't rush. He lifted her chin slowly, his eyes searching hers one last time. And then, he kissed her. His kiss was soft, deep and certain.

A kiss filled with every moment they had shared… and every future waiting ahead.

Some ladies wiped tears. Others sighed dreamily. Valerie covered her eyes dramatically but peeked through her fingers.

Sunshine turned, smiling mischievously as she held her bouquet.

"Ready?" she teased. She tossed it. The bouquet flew through the air. Ivan jumped, Jayden jumped as they collided mid-air.

"HEY!"

"MOVE!"

But in the end, It landed firmly in Jayden's hands. The crowd roared. Ivan landed, frustrated but laughing. Charis looked slightly disappointed. Ivan noticed instantly and gently patted her shoulder.

"Hey… next one," he said softly.

She smiled shyly. "You better catch it next time."

Before anyone could settle, Jeannette and Janette pushed their brother forward.

"Don't tell me you're shy," Jeannette whispered.

"And don't forget everyone is watching," Janette added.

Jayden clenched his jaw. The crowd started chanting. "Go for it! Go for it!"

He took a deep breath as he walked straight to Ciara. He handed her the bouquet the leaned in and kissed her gently on the cheek. The hall exploded.

"HURRAYYYY!!!"

Lettie clapped excitedly. "This is so beautiful! I wish it was me!"

Ciara stood there, stunned but smiling.

"It's time for pictures!" Ivan shouted, already grabbing Lettie's hand. "Come on!"

Ciara smirked. "You've got what you've been waiting for, huh?"

Lucas raised his hands quickly. "It's just for pictures!"

"Sure…" she teased.

Outside, a beautifully decorated carriage waited. Hansen helped Sunshine in gently before sitting beside her. Lucas held the reins proudly.

"Your driver is ready!" he announced dramatically.

Sunshine laughed softly, leaning slightly into Hansen.

"You had all this… and never told me," she said.

"I remember when you brought me here once… I had no idea it would become a place I'd never forget."

Hansen smiled.

"I wanted it to be a surprise… that's why I blindfolded you."

She narrowed her eyes playfully. "So you've been planning this for a long time?"

He leaned closer.

"Shhhhh…" he whispered.

And before she could say another word,

He kissed her again and it was intense .

As the carriage moved forward slowly,

Cheers echoed behind them. Laughter filled the air.
