When they returned, the house was quiet.
For once…There was no Lucas, no noise, no chaos. It was just peace. Hansen led her inside, their fingers still intertwined.
"Welcome home," he whispered again.
She looked around…Then back at him.
"I never thought I'd be living here forever," she said softly. He smiled.
"And now you do."
The nightwas filled with quiet laughter… gentle touches… and hearts finally at rest.
And as they lay side by side, the felt closer than ever.
Morning came gently. Soft golden light slipped through the curtains, resting quietly on the room. The room was warm, peaceful… new.
Sunshine stirred first. Her eyes fluttered open slowly, her mind still wrapped in dreams.Then it hit her. The wedding, the vows and the kiss which caused her to smile instantly.
But before she could move, he felt it. A firm arm wrapped around her waist. She froze slightly… then turned her head. Hansen was till asleep. He had a peaceful face.
Her smile softened into something deeper.
"Good morning… husband," she whispered quietly, almost shyly.
She shifted slightly, trying not to wake him. But his grip tightened gently.
"Mmm… where are you going?" his sleepy voice murmured.
She laughed softly. "I thought you were asleep."
"I was… until my wife started trying to escape."
She turned fully to face him now.
"I wasn't escaping," she said playfully. "I was admiring the morning."
Hansen opened his eyes slowly.
"But I'm right here," he said, pulling her a little closer. "Why admire the morning when you can admire me?"
She rolled her eyes lightly. "You're unbelievable."
"And you married me," he replied with a smirk.
There was a pause, yet quiet one. Sunshine looked at him… really looked at him.
Then softly, "We're really married…"
Hansen's expression softened instantly.
"Yes," he said gently. "We are."
Her fingers moved slightly, touching the ring on his hand. " This feels… unreal."
He reached for her hand, intertwining their fingers.
"Get used to it," he whispered. "Because it's forever."
She smiled. "Forever is a long time, Mr. Gray."
"Good," he replied. "I want all of it."
She laughed softly, resting her head lightly against his chest. There was peace, comfort and home in the silence.
Suddenly, BAAANNGGG!
"GOOD MORNING LOVEBIRDS"
Lucas's voice froze mid-sentence as he stood at the door. Hansen's expression darkened instantly.
"Lucas…" he said slowly.
Sunshine buried her face in the pillow, laughing in embarrassment.
Lucas raised his hands. "Okay! I see I walked into something sacred!"
"You think?" Hansen snapped.
Lucas grinned. "I just came to say breakfast is ready… but clearly, you're already being served."
"GET OUT!" Hansen threw a pillow at him.
Lucas dodged it and ran off laughing.
Silence returned again. Sunshine lifted her head, still smiling. "Your family will never give us peace, will they?"
Hansen sighed. "Never."
She smiled warmly. "I like it."
He looked at her, surprised. "You do?"
She nodded. "It feels like home."
Hansen leaned down and kissed her forehead gently.
"Then welcome home… Mrs. Gray."
She smiled softly, her heart full.
And as the morning light wrapped around them, their new life had officially begun.
Not just as lovers but as husband and wife.
Forever.
Outside, life continued. Laughter would return. Chaos would find its way back.
Family would always be loud, dramatic, and full of surprises.
But inside that room, there was something stronger. Something unshakable. Something undeniable. Love that had been tested…Lost…Found again…And finally...Kept.
