The next day, Nayeon took Ariyana to the nearby park in the neighbourhood after school. The park also had a playground inbuilt into it.
Nayeon sat and watched as Ariyana played freely on the playground. It reminded her of her own childhood and the crazy things she used to do like, exchange the neighbours newspaper with playboy magazines, put toothpaste in her father's biscuits, Nayeon laughed at all those thoughts and Ariyana looked at her.
"Are you alright, aunt Nayeon?" She asked.
"Yes, i am. Carry on, please." She replied.
Ariyana continued playing.
They were walking back to the house and Nayeon was gripping unto Ariyana's hand.
An elderly woman suddenly approached them unknowingly.
"Joeun achimimnida, jeani itsseumnida." (Good morning, I have an offer for you) The old woman spoke.
"Gwansim eopseumnida." (We have no interest) Nayeon told her. And they were about to leave until they old woman said something that caught her attention.
"Harini itseumnida." (There is a discount) The old woman said.
Nayeon sighed.
"Eolmayeyo?" (How much) Nayeon asked.
"Il won." (One won) She replied.
Nayeon bought her offer, which turned out to be just a candy wrapper. She was confused and felt like she was scammed.
"Ige mwoyeyo?" (What is this) Nayeon asked the old woman.
"Oneul bam sowoneul bilmyeonseo
dongsi-e satang pojangeul yeoreoboseyo." (Make a wish tonight and open the candy wrapper at the same time) The old woman said.
"Algesseyo." (Understood) Nayeon replied.
"Sidamyeon irueojiji anjiman, daldamyeon irueojil geoyeyo." (If its sour, then it won't come true, but if it's sweet, it will come true) The old woman said.
"Gamsahamnida." (Thank you) Nayeon said in a confused manner. She was surprised to see that the old woman had already disappeared.
"Aunt Nayeon, i thought you said your Korean was poor." Ariyana asked.
"It is." Nayeon said as they continued walking.
Ariyana was confused.
"Huh?"
When they arrived, Nayeon told Ariyana to have a bath and change of clothes, while she went upstairs to try out the fortune.
She sat on her bed, legs crossed. She held up the plain candy wrapper and thought of a wish. She closed her eyes and wished. And when she saw the wrapper, there was a sweet inside. Nayeon was surprised.
She unwrapped the candy and ate it. Behold, the candy was sweet tasting!
Nayeon was quite satisfied and usually, she doesn't believe in fortunes but she felt like this on would work out.
Her household slept soundly that night.
