Reaper is an individual with a blessing that has no combat advantage. His blessing lets him hearing the thoughts of others. But it doesn't let him reading them. Only hear the current thoughts of his opponent.
He can't even telekinetically talk with others to confuse them. He can only hear the thoughts they might be thinking at the time.
'I can shut it down so at least that's something. Imagine constantly hearing voice in your head when you are in public. That would be jarring.'
He still doesn't call his blessing useless. His blessing is quite quickly helpful in understanding what others might be thinking about doing. He maybe can get important information. Or maybe he can see if others are lying or not about what they actually said.
His blessing is good and useful. He is satisfied with that. But he isn't with himself.
He isn't strong and this current world requires strength. Extreme strength that is overwhelming and overpowering.
Power makes the world go around and he desire power more than anyone in this world. As a Guideless Chosen, he never believed that a God would lay a path to power for him.
Gods are incredibly powerful. No, infinitely more powerful. Gods are too strong and so they made a world in their imagine. A world that requires power to survive.
'A cruel world but not that unfair.'
In this world, only those survive that has power. So, it is easy. Just gain power and live a life the way you want.
But the problem is that Reaper doesn't know how to acquire strength. He failed the draw of birth and got a blessing that wouldn't make him strong. But there are many other ways to gain strength.
Work hard and keep on working hard.
He has practiced hard with weapons and he has gotten quite good at it. His favorite is rapier. He knows how to use that weapon like breathing. That is why he was reward with [Rock's clash].
A frozen blessing.
Such a privilege of the strong to enjoy a weapon such as this one. Cause of his hard work and determination. He gets to have such a weapon.
'Working hard is quite good. But not good enough. Sometimes, you have to choose other means of strength.'
Strength doesn't mean only physical strength. Sometimes, it also means to do anything for victory. So, with that in mind, he cheated in many parts of this path to reach [Rock's clash].
Hard work doesn't always pay up. Sometimes, you need to bend the wheel to your side and be the bad guy. Kill anyone who comes your way and destroy those who are weaker than you so they don't get the chance to grow from the ground.
'If there are no heroes, you can be a villain. But if there are heroes. Well, just be a villain under the noses of these heroes. They won't notice. Just like how they don't notice me.'
God's world is about strength but in this world, there is no morality. Only strong will rise to the top and go even higher. Only powerful get to do whatever they want.
It is required that you do everything to survive and never let anyone push you around. However, some do that and choose a different route. They want to be a pathetic parasite. Those who survive on other's mercy or pity.
'Like Re-purr…'
Reaper hates weak Chosen. He even sees a little of himself in them. His past self was weaker than his current self. So, he went out of his way and killed those who he deemed weak. Or just forced these Chosen to step into the cruel reality of the world.
He does call himself a bad guy or villain occasionally. So, that fits his character.
'Very much like me. Why live on pity when you can just die, you know?'
Reaper's is a Chosen who has chosen a path that he found fitting for himself. He wants to be the strong and kill those who are weak. He wouldn't call himself evil though.
That's because strong makes the rules and if he is the strong. His actions are justified and have no one who can oppose them.
'Being stronger than these wild Chosen sure is nice. Back in the Sicksea region, I can never do what I want. That is why, Hell is the land of the free.'
Reaper uses his rapier to attack sinned souls. His fighting style is built around the frozen blessing. His moves are perfectly using the blessing of his weapon. His skills make this weapon ten times stronger.
He moves straight ahead with lightening speed and pierces the body of a sinned soul. Then he jumps back and moves away to replicate that attack again and again until his opponent his dead.
His weapon may advantage is that he can pierce the weak points of his opponents. Like Chosen. Most Chosen have the same biology as a human so knowing their weak parts is easier. And so, it is easy to do a one kill hit.
But sinned souls don't follow the rules of biology. No sinned soul is like the other. Each one is unique and weird. Reaper just has to guess or keep on attacking the sinned souls to kill.
Even though it is difficult. He can still kill more than ten in an hour if nothing unexpected happen. His attacks are lethal and [Rock's clash] can also be used as an escape measure. He just needs to point his rapier at one direction and it will move him towards that direction until it hits an obstacle.
He can technically even fly with this weapon. But not that far, just a little more than 50 feet or so.
His killing spree is slow but methodically. Each move is premade and thought out. In the middle of killing sinned soul, he even killed few worthless and weak Chosen too.
'It is satisfying to kill the weak.'
After a little while, he finds another Chosen who seem to laying down under a corpse of a sinned soul. The Chosen's appearance is quite ordinary. Nothing unique sticks out at first glance. He is quite beat up and wounded though. Not at much as any other Chosen though.
Could this Chosen have a healing factor? Even if that's the case, it doesn't justify resting under the corpse of a sinned soul. The situation can change at any moment and kill you.
'Is he asleep? Wait! He is. I'll be damned. I need to kill him.'
Reaper doesn't have more of morality so I won't mind killing someone in their sleep. It is obvious that sleeping in a battle field is fast way to the end of your life. He would just be ending this Chosen misery sooner rather than later.
He points his rapier towards the Chosen and moves lightening fast towards the sleeping Chosen. His target is the Chosen's neck. One smooth hit and then the instant death. Sleeping Chosen would be dead in its sleep. Quite a poetic death, isn't it?
However, that doesn't seem to happen. That is because the Chosen dodges Reaper's attack in his sleep. It really quite shocked him and so he jumps back. Trying to evaluate the situation.
'What just happened?'
The sleeping Chosen opens his eyes and they're cold. His whole face is expressionless and there is a cold aura radiating from him. But not just that his whole mind is so calm. Barely any thought.
Reaper isn't shocked but is quite unsettled by it.
'Creepy.'
Man-man looks at the one who attacks him and sighs in his mind. He just wanted to have a little nap. He hates fighting at night and he is pretty tired right now. He wishes he could just bury himself and just sleep his life away under six feet.
He just wanted to take a little fifteen minutes nap. But someone had to annoy him. There is just no peace in hell.
"Well, guess we have to find now."
A disturbing smile creep up on Reaper's face. He doesn't look alarmed but intrigued by the Chosen in front of him. His thoughts are so quiet. The Chosen in front of him is a unique one.
For Man-man though, the Chosen in front of him is a bother.
