As the Thousand Sunny sailed into the eerie Florian Triangle, the crew spotted a strange ghostly ship drifting through the fog.
Curious, they boarded it and came face to face with Brook, a living skeleton who spoke and moved like a normal person.
Sonic stared for a second, clearly caught off guard.
"…Okay, sky islands and lightning gods I can deal with."
He pointed at Brook and added,
"But a talking skeleton is new."
When Brook explained that his shadow had been stolen, leaving him unable to walk in sunlight, Sonic's expression turned more serious.
"So someone literally stole your shadow?"
He folded his arms and said,
"That's messed up."
Even while surprised, Sonic immediately understood this was more than just another weird Grand Line moment.

After hearing Brook's story, Monkey D. Luffy immediately decided they would help him get his shadow back.
Without hesitation, the crew headed toward the eerie island ship Thriller Bark.
As they arrived in the heavy fog, Nami, Usopp, and Tony Tony Chopper were the first to step onto Thriller Bark to scout ahead.
Sonic landed beside them and looked around at the dark forest and creepy mansion in the distance.
"…Yeah, this place definitely feels wrong."
He glanced toward the others and added,
"Stay close. Something here is watching."
Screen 3
A little later, Monkey D. Luffy and the rest of the crew arrived deeper inside Thriller Bark, with Sonic moving alongside Luffy's team.
The island was filled with strange creatures and monsters roaming through the fog-covered forest.
Zombies suddenly appeared from the shadows, and Sonic immediately dashed forward, knocking several of them aside before they could surround the crew.
As they moved through the haunted island, the crew learned that the one controlling this place was Gecko Moria, one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea.
Sonic's expression sharpened when he heard that.
"Another Warlord…"
He looked toward the giant mansion in the distance and said,
"So this whole nightmare island is his doing."

As the crew explored deeper into Thriller Bark, they met a strange figure named Spoil, who revealed the horrifying truth behind the island.
Gecko Moria had been stealing people's shadows.
Once a person loses their shadow, they can no longer stand in sunlight. If sunlight touches them, they disappear.
Sonic stopped and looked down at the ground for a second, checking that his own shadow was still there.
"…Okay, that's actually messed up."
He looked toward the mansion and added,
"So he doesn't just fight people. He steals part of who they are."
That made Sonic take Moria much more seriously.

Inside the dark halls of Thriller Bark, Dr. Hogback unveiled one of his most dangerous creations: the revived legendary samurai Ryuma.
The moment Ryuma stepped forward, the atmosphere changed. His presence alone felt dangerous.
Sonic moved ahead to scout the corridor and suddenly had a small clash with Ryuma.
Ryuma's blade flashed through the air with incredible precision, forcing Sonic to dodge backward at high speed.
Sonic countered with a quick dash kick, but Ryuma smoothly blocked with his sword and slid back only a little.
After the brief exchange, Sonic narrowed his eyes.
"…This one's different."
He could tell immediately that Ryuma was not just another zombie, but a serious obstacle for the team.
