The nightmare on Thriller Bark reached a new level when Gecko Moria fully reanimated Oars by placing Monkey D. Luffy's shadow inside the giant.
The result was terrifying.
Oars now moved with Luffy's reckless instincts and overwhelming physical strength, making him a massive threat to the entire crew.
Seeing this, Sonic's semi-Dark aura intensified into full Dark Sonic once again.
Dark electricity surged around him, and his eyes darkened fully.
He stepped forward and said coldly,
"I'll fight him."
The Straw Hats immediately understood what he meant: Dark Sonic would hold Oars off first while the rest of the crew handled the other battles in canon style.

This let Dark Sonic have his own huge clash with Oars without removing the Straw Hats' main fights.

The fight began in the ruined courtyard of Thriller Bark.
Oars let out a massive roar, his huge body moving with the reckless instincts of Monkey D. Luffy's shadow.
Standing alone in front of the giant, Dark Sonic lowered his stance as black electricity crackled around him.
Then both moved.
Oars swung a gigantic fist downward, smashing the ground hard enough to shake the entire island.
Dark Sonic vanished from sight an instant before the impact.
He reappeared at Oars' shoulder and struck with a fast spinning kick, forcing the giant's head to jerk sideways.
Oars growled and swung his other arm in a wide sweep, but Dark Sonic dashed underneath it and rushed up the giant's arm, landing a rapid series of strikes across his chest and neck.
The courtyard filled with shockwaves from the clash of giant strength and overwhelming speed.
Dark Sonic's voice stayed cold.
"You're strong."
He leaped back as Oars slammed both hands into the ground again.
"But you're too slow."

The battle in Thriller Bark intensified.
Oars began fighting more like Monkey D. Luffy, stretching his movements with wild instincts and throwing unpredictable giant swings.
Dark Sonic rushed around him in black flashes, striking Oars' arms, shoulders, and legs with rapid hits.
This time, Oars adapted.
He slammed one hand into the ground to create a shockwave that disrupted Dark Sonic's footing.
For the first time in the fight, Dark Sonic was forced back.
Oars followed immediately with a massive kick that sent debris flying across the ruined courtyard.
Dark Sonic barely avoided it, sliding across the broken stone before rushing back in with another burst of speed.
He launched a hard spinning strike into Oars' knee, making the giant stagger slightly.
Even so, Oars kept grinning with Luffy's reckless energy, clearly enjoying the fight.
Dark Sonic narrowed his eyes.
"…Now you're learning."
Screen 4 Final Fight
The battle against Oars reached its climax.
After Dark Sonic's solo clash slowed the giant down, the Straw Hat Pirates regrouped in canon style and quickly formed a plan.
Monkey D. Luffy, now in his Nightmare form, joined the battlefield while Dark Sonic remained on the front line.
The crew banded together and devised a special coordinated team attack to finally bring Oars down.
Roronoa Zoro targeted the limbs
Sanji attacked the joints
Nami supported from range
Usopp and Tony Tony Chopper created openings
Dark Sonic rushed around Oars at full speed, continuously striking weak points
Then Nightmare Luffy launched the finishing sequence.
As Oars lost balance, Dark Sonic dashed up the giant's body in a burst of black lightning and delivered a hard spinning strike to the head, staggering him one last time.
At that exact moment, Nightmare Luffy landed the final decisive blow, sending Oars crashing down across the ruins of Thriller Bark.
The giant was finally defeated.
Dark Sonic landed beside Luffy, dark sparks fading slightly as the dust settled.
"Now that," he said coldly,
"was teamwork."

After Oars was finally brought down, the crew rushed to corner the real Gecko Moria.
For a moment it looked like they had him trapped, but Moria used a shadow clone to deceive them and slip away.
As the sky slowly began to brighten, the moment everyone had been waiting for finally came.
Just before sunrise, all the shadows stolen by Moria were released and returned to their original owners, restoring everyone's souls and letting them stand in sunlight again.
At the same time, the intense darkness surrounding Sonic began to fade.
The full Dark Sonic form weakened and settled back into a semi-Dark state.
The black aura was now faint, only small sparks remaining around him.
He took a slow breath and looked at the sunrise.
"…Good. They're back."
For the first time since the fight began, his voice sounded calmer.
Screen 5
Just as things on Thriller Bark began to settle, a new presence appeared.
From the shadows emerged Bartholomew Kuma, one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea and a direct weapon of the World Government.
The atmosphere instantly turned tense.
Kuma calmly announced that he had been ordered to eliminate everyone present.
The moment Sonic heard that, the remaining semi-dark aura around him violently surged.
The faint sparks exploded outward.
His eyes darkened fully again.
In an instant, semi-Dark Sonic returned to full Dark Sonic.
Black electricity crackled around his body as he stepped forward between Kuma and the Straw Hats.
His voice turned cold and sharp.
"No one touches them."
The crew immediately understood how serious the situation had become.
This was no longer the aftermath of Thriller Bark.
A new battle was about to begin.
Screen 6
The ruined courtyard of Thriller Bark fell silent as Bartholomew Kuma faced Dark Sonic.
Kuma stood motionless, his expression unreadable.
Dark Sonic moved first.
A burst of black lightning shot across the ground as he rushed in at full speed, aiming a powerful spinning strike at Kuma's side.
But Kuma calmly raised his palm.
The instant Dark Sonic got close, the Paw-Paw ability released a compressed air blast that exploded outward.
Dark Sonic was forced back, skidding across broken stone.
He immediately rushed in again from multiple angles, attacking with rapid kicks, feints, and a dark-aura Spin Dash.
Kuma blocked and redirected the attacks with frightening precision, each movement minimal and efficient.
Then Kuma launched another invisible shockwave from his palm, sending debris and dust flying across the battlefield.
Dark Sonic barely dodged, the blast tearing apart the wall behind him.
For the first time, he realized this enemy was on a completely different level.
Still, he refused to step back.
He rushed Kuma once more in a straight burst of speed, but Kuma suddenly vanished and reappeared behind him.
A single palm strike sent Dark Sonic crashing into the ground.
The dark aura flickered violently, but Sonic forced himself back up, still standing between Kuma and the crew.
His voice remained cold.
"…I'm still here."

The final phase of the battle on Thriller Bark was brutal.
Bartholomew Kuma had barely moved throughout the fight, yet Dark Sonic was already breathing heavily, his aura flickering with instability.
Dark Sonic launched one last full-speed charge, black lightning tearing across the ruined courtyard as he aimed a decisive spinning strike at Kuma's chest.
This time Kuma did not dodge.
He calmly raised his hand and released a concentrated compressed air blast directly into Sonic's path.
The impact hit like a wall.
Dark Sonic was thrown violently backward and crashed through broken stone and debris, landing hard on the ground.
One of his legs and his shoulder took the worst of the hit, leaving him badly injured and struggling to rise.
The dark aura around him began to break apart in unstable sparks.
Kuma stepped closer, still calm and unreadable.
Sonic forced himself up to one knee, clearly hurt but still glaring at him.
Even injured, he stayed between Kuma and the crew.
"…Not done," he said through clenched teeth.
But it was clear that Kuma had decisively won the fight.
Screen 8
The dark aura around Sonic finally faded, and Dark Sonic returned to normal Sonic.
He was exhausted from the fight with Bartholomew Kuma, barely able to stand.
At that moment, Roronoa Zoro stepped forward and tried to fight Kuma himself, but it quickly became clear that brute force alone would not be enough.
Realizing what was at stake, Zoro and Sonic silently came to the same decision.
They would split the burden 50% and 50% to protect Monkey D. Luffy.
Kuma transferred part of Luffy's accumulated pain and exhaustion from the battle with Gecko Moria.
Instead of Zoro taking everything like canon, Zoro and Sonic each took half.
The strain hit both of them immediately.
Zoro remained standing through sheer willpower, while Sonic, already worn down from his earlier battle, could not hold on much longer.
He took a few unsteady steps, looked toward Luffy to make sure he was safe, and then collapsed unconscious onto the ground.
Zoro nothing happened
Before blacking out, Sonic quietly said,
"…Captain's safe… that's enough."
