Chapter 36 - Chapter Thirty Six, Inferiority

The beautiful glowing snake covered in patterns of ever changing obsidian now held two unnatural lump of obsidian clumped on it.

These two clumps were not able to move with the rest. They also were no where near close in sizes.

Instead the clump of obsidian Alex had just formed was completely inferior to the other. Being extremely smaller then the original clump.

The first lump was just about the size of a small pillow. The one Alex had created was barely the size of a fist.

Except it overjoyed the rest of the group, as it was the first damage they had inflicted on the snake.

Proving to themselves that the snake was not invincible. Instead it was just a regular and very mortal fcreature like the rest of them.

There was a problem, like an elephant in a room, being completely obvious. Not a single one of them missed the detail.

It was going to take way to long for the snake to be completely engulfed in obsidian. They would have to repeatedly hit the snake hundreds of times.

So they had decided to just do it anyway, to just persevere until the end. Despite the time and effort it'd take they dint care.

Alex charged forward once again, planning to repeat his same attack on the snake. Except while Alex ran to the snake he saw the ground around him shift.

Noticing the Alex immediately jumped to the side. Dodging the melting of the ground around him Alex stood ready.

Then the melted ground condensed and shot for Alex. Alex dodged away from the point of the moving spike.

Except it didn't stop, instead turning back around to Alex. This time Alex jumped to the metal that was already stationary.

He felt the heat eminating off it, but he fel ly a rush of air charge by him. It was the sharp end of the spike, except it had missed Alex.

Despite Alex's triumphant dodges he was now surrounded on most his sides except for forward. The spike did not allow this path of escape spiraling in on itself.

Alex was now blow led on all sides while sharp metal point rushed toward him. Thinking quickly Alex dropped down to the ground.

The metal spike flew by him once again, except this time it flew into the air. It planned on falling back down straight into Alex's back.

Alex then heard the air whistling from the spike. He wasn't able to crawl fast enough away, nor was he able to dodge this time.

All hope seemed lost, even Lyra and Xavier were to far to act. As they watched in horror the spike grew closer and closer to Alex.

Suddenly like reaching the end of its leash the spike stopped violently in its track, mere inches away from Alex.

Alex had barely been able to waste the spikes materials. Finally given enough time he crawled on the ground until out of the spikes grasps.

He stood up ready to fight again, just to not see the snake any where.

"Alex it's under you!"

Lyra scream echoed through the forest while Alex started sprinting in a random direction, hoping to be able to outrun the snake.

Then Alex felt a immense heat rush throughout his back. Behind him just a few feat away was the snake.

The immense heat it eminated felt like Alex's back was directly in a fire. Alex was going through immeasurable pain.

Except he pushed pass the pain, as instead of following his instincts and running from the emerging snake Alex turned around.

This spin combined with the force Alex had swung his whip had shot the whip foward like a bullet.

This time Alex was so close to the snake that not a mere part of the snake would be covered, but instead a whole streak across his body.

The whip collided, or rather the air barrier collided with snake, instantly harndenig the molten lava flowing under the snakes armor.

Then right behind it the real whip hit, letting out a sonic boom as the tip slammed against the snake with speeds surpassing the speed of sound.

A cracking sound then echoed through the forest. The obsidian shell was then cracked by Alex.

Instead of a triumphant feeling, or the immense burning pain Alex instead felt fear. A fear like no other.

It was more then just instict , it was although his body, mind and souls merged to tell him on thing.

Run before you die!

Alex needed no conformation, nor did he have the power to stop his actions. He then ran, as though his life depended on it, an it did.

He ran without stop, he ran until his body screamed in pain. Even then he continued, there was so much power eminating from behind him.

He had only stopped when he was about three hundred yards from the snake. Finally he turned around to see the snak.

Except he did not see the familiar snake engulfed with obsidian around it. Nor did he see the snake that was the size of a tree.

Instead Alex was staring at a snake the size of hill. Being more like the size of twenty trees. Truly a behemoth.

Alex suddenly realized the obsidian was a restriction, not an armor. Now they had face the snake and its true power.

The huge wall the stood infront of them had just grown a hundred times more difficult to overcome.

Lyra on the other hand was once again analyzing. This time the true body of the snake, and not a restricted version.

Somehow her evolution had truly made her so much stronger. She had now understood its true abilities.

She had looked at the snake and its new size, while also the clumps and deformations on its body, jus like the rest of the animas on the island.

This paired with the fact that the snake was now moving considerably slower made one thing clear.

It was not a restriction on its self, but instead another form it had. A form to make it faster and more maneuverable.

It had also limited the imperfections and corruption that showed on its body. So they still had a chance against the snake.

Except this was not true and she knew it, the snakes agile form was directly weak to their group. While its 'unbound form' was a direct counter.

They were going to need much more then just luck and analyzations to defeat the snake.

Alex who stood extremely far from the snake was surpisungly accompanied by Lyra and Xavier who had ran too.

They had both felt the same crushing fear Alex had. Only inferior to one crushing fear, the colosal mound of corpses.

Xavier had just come up with a completely idiotic plan. The only plan that could defeat the snake.

Except it would also put them in danger of dying along with the snake. It was truly a gamble they needed to decide on.

They needed to decide on it quickly though, as the snake in its new form was slowly charging toward Alex and his group.

"Hey guys we have two choices, we can either run or beat this damned hellish snake by luring it to the mountain of corpses."

Tasked with the choice, Lyra and Alex felt the pressure of the decision. Except their answers were obvious.

They were going to overcome the insurmountabel wall in front of them. It was a test, a test they had decided they were going pass without a doubt, even if they had to put their lives on the line.

"F**k that stupid snake let's go lead it to its doom!!"

Lyra was crazy energetic and insane, wanting nothing more to defeat the snake.

"Well who cares about living anyway, if we die we will just kill the snake as ghosts, so I'm-"

Alex was cut short when he fell to the ground in pain. The adrenaline had worn off jus a bit and he felt his back and arm scream in agony.

It felt like thousands of needles were being stabbed into them while a scorching pan was pressed against them.

Alex looked down at his arm looking at the scorch marks that ran across them. The snakes heat shield had completely burnt Alex's arm.

Trying to bear the pain Alex clenched his teeth and tried to stand back up. Except he couldn't, the pain was to much.

It was a pain matched by no other, wiping away any thought in his mind. Replacing every single thought in his mind with pain.

He was suffering, the pain was way to much for Alex to handle. Lyra and Xavier had both watched him fall to the ground.

They had also noticed the burn marks that ran across Alex's body. Xavier did not like seeing anyone in so much pain.

Alex's pain had even brought him to tears, yet the tears had fallen on his arm causing him to scream out in pain.

This pushed Xavier passed his limits, as he raised his arm before striking it on the only part of Alex's neck that wasn't burnt.

This strike immediately knocked out Alex, freeing him from his pain. Xavier then picked him up and laid him on his shoulder, making sure his stomach was facing the ground.

From yeas of training with the military this was nothing. Now it was time to go and find the corpse mountain.

Lyra had noticed Xavier's act and started running the moment Alex was in his shoulders.

Xavier followed closely behind, following Lyra, while the snake followed behind them. Even while slower its hige size made up for that.

At it towered over trees, running them over and engulfing them like a sun. The snake left no tracks behind it, just leaving scorched ground colored black.

Lyra was running to where they had previously encountered the behemoth corpse pile. She was also searching for a part of the forest that opened into a clearing.

After running for awhile they arrived at the clearing. It wasn't really a clearing, instead just the destructive path of the abomination.

Lyra peered through the empty path, trying to find the creature. Sadly she did not find the cursed abomination.

Luckily it didn't matter, this was because as long as they followed the trail they would eventually find it.

So that's what they did, following th path while the behemoth snake followed behind them. It aura was intimidating, forcing them to slowly increase their pace.

The snake would occasionally slam its tail against the ground. This would cause a meteor shower similar to its last one.

Except this time it was much larger causing Xavier and Lyra to be constantly weary about their surroundings.

Then after awhile of exhausting running Lyra noticed a blob slowly moving in the distance. They had finally reached the abomination.

Except instead of a sense of joy, both of them felt fear. They had not forgotten the sensation of the dead blob.

Yet they had slowly underestimated it, now they were facing it once again. It's pressure crushed them while also causing the snake to momentarily stop.

Somehow Lyra and Xavier were able to persevere forward. Moving against every fiber of their body they slowly mad their way closer and closer to the abomination.

Once close enough to see the bony body of the creature they stopped. This was not out of choice but forced by their fear.

The creature was just to strong to approach without dying on the spot.
