United Kingdom,London.
Lines of people were crowded in front of a metal detector. While hundreds more were crammed onto an escalator.
People waited in front of a gate. They were all in an airport. All waiting to leave it as quickly as possible.
A kid about the age of fourteen sat in front of a gate, gazing off into the distance. He had headphones on while he daydreamed about his home.
This was Alex Tren, a young teenage boy with fluffy blonde hair, shimmering brown eyes, a thin nose, and a dark complexion.
There were many other people near him, all waiting for their plane to arrive. Yet Alex was the only one completely alone.
Everyone else had partners, friends, or family by them. Alex was alone, with no family to even think of.
Alex was orphaned at the young age of five. He had few memories of his real parents, sadly all his close relatives were not in good connection with his parents so was sent to an orphanage after his difficulties of finding a new family.
Now after two long years, he was finally heading back to that orphanage, where all the friends he had made sat waiting in that old weary house.
Their docking bay opened. The plane has finally been prepared for their long flight.
Alex got up out of his seat and started walking towards the gate agent.
Finally I'm heading back to America.
Alex was beginning to grow excited as he quickened his pace towards the gate agent.
I'm first in line, that's pretty lucky.
Alex then reached into his right pocket, digging around until he pulled out a piece of paper. It was his ticket, as he handed it to the gate agent.
"Here you go, miss."
The gate agent took Alex's ticket and scanned it on a barcode reader.
Ding*
The gate agent then looked at the computer in front of her and nodded.
"You may go ahead sir, have a good flight."
The gate agent then offered the plane ticket back to him. Alex grabbed it and smiled before turning around and headed to the jet bridge. He walked through the tunnel until he arrived at the plane door.
A flight attendant waited at the side of the plane door.
"Head on in."
Alex smiled again, then started walking to the plane door.
"Thanks."
Alex entered the plane as he looked at his ticket to find his seat.
Alex's seat was next to the window.
Lucky me, I got a window seat!
Alex sat down before putting his bag right next to his feet. All he had to do was wait for all the passengers to get on the plane.
…
Finally all the passengers had loaded on, and they were expected to leave in a few seconds. The speakers around the plane started crackling.
The flight attendants were giving their necessary safety speech. Going through protocols and procedures.
At last the plane started its take off. As the plane started accelerating on its tracks, the loud sounds of the takeoff were deafening.
The plane's wings adjusted, and right as this happened, the plane lifted off. It was now soaring above the ground as it got higher and higher.
Finally the plane was thousands of feet off the ground. They were now able to unbuckle their seats and move around.
While others chatted with the people next to them and got up to use restrooms and talk to others, Alex didn't move.
Alex stayed still as he looked out the window, watching the clouds pass by under them and faintly listening to the audiobook playing in his ears..
After studying abroad in the UK for two years he had learned that silent moments were too good to let pass by.
Alex put his hand on his headphones and readjusted them, before continuing to gaze off into the distance, getting more and more excited the further the plane went.
…
The plane was now flying above the Atlantic Ocean as it cut through the sky. Yet in the distance, far beyond where the human eye could perceive, a storm was forming.
Alex was still watching the outside world fly by him. As he thought about his friends at the orphanage.
After two whole years he was finally going to see them again. Although he had kept in contact, this was the first time they'd see each other since he left.
Alex was excited, but he was also worried. Worried that one of his friends could've been adopted and left.
He knew he couldn't control this, yet he was still worried. All of a sudden the plane shook up and down, throwing people about. Alex had grasped onto his armrest, gripping it tightly.
The plane went through a brief moment of turbulence.
"This is your captain speaking, please buckle back in, as we may be experiencing more turbulence."
People were momentarily shocked, although they then calmed down. Everybody on the plane hurriedly sat back down and buckled their seatbelts.
…
The plane continued to go through turbulence every once in a while, not seeming to go away anytime soon.
This worried people, but not that much, believing it would smooth out eventually. While Alex continued looking out the window, wandering through his mind, pondering many questions he had.
Then a strong fragrant aroma swept through the plane,as a cart filled with food was pushed out of the flight attendant's compartment.
The cart passed through aisles of people as the flight attendant working it handed out food.
When she arrived next to Alex's aisle, there were only five plates left. Alex scanned the options, and only one of them stood out to him.
It was a simple steak with mashed potatoes and broccoli.
"Can I get the steak?"
The flight attendant grabbed the plate holding Alex's meal and passed it to him.
"Thank you."
"No problem, enjoy your meal."
The flight attendant then walked to the next row. As Alex put his meal on the fold-out table in front of him.
Alex ate his meal quickly, scarfing it down. He ate it so swiftly he had little time to enjoy the flavor.
Still pleased with his meal, Alex kept taking large mouthfuls when another burst of turbulence hit the plane, sending Alex's plate into the air.
It then started falling back down as Alex leaned over sideways. As he stuck out his hand, the plate fell right into it. He had luckily caught the plate.
Then Alex once again looked out his window, except this time it wasn't the ocean beneath him. Nor was it a white fluffy cloud.
Instead, it was a raging black thundercloud beneath him. Alex panicked for a second, then he realized it was beneath him.
It was the fact that the storm was beneath the plane, that Alex thought it could cause no harm, as he thought lightning was not able to strike upwards.
"This is your captain speaking. We will be travelling over a storm cloud, it should cause no threat."
The plane panicked a bit before quickly calming down. They believed what the captain had said, but some were still a bit weary, as a thick ominous feeling lingered in the air. Yet nothing had happened, other than the turbulence.
A baby a couple rows in front of Alex started whining. As its mother immediately started comforting it, trying to calm her baby down.
"Don't cry, please don't cry, Mommy's right here."
The baby kept whining, ignoring its mother's pleas. While the face of the mother immediately flushed red in embarrassment.
I wish this baby would stop crying.
Alex was trying to focus on himself and not the loud cries from the baby. Finally the baby stopped fussing.
As the mother and everyone around her were relieved, they all focused on what they were previously doing.
All of a sudden the lights of the plane turned off, then back on, and then back off. The lights were flickering rapidly.
Then the flickering stopped as the lights stabilized. The plane was thrown into panic.
People tried to hide it inside themselves, not wanting to cause chaos on the plane. Even Alex was afraid but chose to hide it.
While the plane flew above a storm cloud in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean,a wave of energy shot towards it.
The wave originated from North America, heading out into every crevice of the world.
Inside the plane Alex was still looking out the window and this time he was just trying to hold back his fear.
He, and everyone else around him felt an immense pressure, as the wave of energy passed through them.
The pressure was so intense, some people even fainted after feeling it, while others felt a shiver sent throughout their whole body.
Some unlucky people vomited blood from the wave of energy, and the pilot was knocked out from the intensity.
With the absence of the pilot, the plane began to plummet. As it fell further and further down the dark abyss of the water waited for the arrival of the plane.
Right before the plane could plunge into the water, the pilot woke up and pulled the plane up as hard as he could, barely saving the plane and its survivors from disaster.
People were still absolutely terrified. The wave, the plummet, the lights, and the turbulence had caused everyone to fear for their lives.
As the palms of death were grasped around the plane the fear of the passengers had all erupted as soon as the plane stopped plummeting.
"Are we going to die?!?!!"
"I have my baby with me!!!"
"I can't die here! I have a family!"
"What the hell is happening?!"
Everyone was confused about what had happened and what was continuing to happen.
The passengers did not realize that they had fallen through the storm cloud and were now right under it.
In front of the plane a large streak of lightning flashed through the sky as it branched in multiple directions and branched off of the branches.
There was something terribly wrong with the lightning. While only Alex had noticed it, as he was the only one calm enough to look out his window, or rather the only one who suppressed his fear enough.
Alex had noticed that the lightning was pink. Not white, not even purple, but pink. He knew that while it was portrayed in fiction, it was not possible for real lightning.
Alex was filled with fear, as now the impossible was just put in front of him. Now he did not know what to expect, with everything good and bad being possible in Alex's eyes.
Not a minute later, the plane was engulfed in one of the pink lightning strikes, and the plane immediately started plummeting to the awaiting ocean.
…
Alex and the rest of the survivors woke up.
Right as they did, an illusory screen flickered in front of them. Alex could not see others' screens, and no one could see Alex's screen. It was as though they were personally connected to the owner.
Except it didn't matter, as everyone's screen said the exact same thing.
[Welcome to the special continent, congratulations on making it!]
