Chapter 35 - Chapter Thirty Five, Scemes

It was so obvious,Ike pondering the color of the sky the answer should be obvious. Except it hadn't been.

Now both Alex and Xavier were dumbstruck by their naivety. Surprised they had not though of Lyra's obvious answer.

Lyra plan was simple, to get the snake to dive into the giant pool of water. This would instantly immobilize the snake.

Now they just had to somehow get the snake inside the pool of water. They didn't know how yet, but they'd figured sit out.

Suddenly their brainstorming was cut short with the arrival of the snake. With its flashy entrance of emerging through the ground.

Once above ground it didn't go back into the depths of underground. Instead it stayed on the surface.

For a single short moment Alex could've sworn that the snake could've grimaced at the pond.

Except it wasn't a grimace of disgust towards its natural predator. Instead it was more of a grimace at the stupidity of their group.

Alex quickly ignored what he thought, instead running toward the snake and chucking a rock at it while giving it the finger.

Despite the knowledge the snake lacked about huma sign language it was obviously annoyed by Alex's provocation.

Seeing his plans work Alex changed his direction running straight to the pool of water that stood in a state of serenity.

Except this serenity was suddenly broken when Alex came running toward it while screaming two words.

"CANNON BALL!"

As he said this Alex jumped into the water while mimicking a cannon ball. Sending a huge géiser of water up into the sky where he had landed.

The snake who had slithered after Alex suddenly stopped. Seeing Alex's location it backed away avoiding the splashes of water.

Alex was joyous by his advantage over the snake. Except he also felt a bit uncomfortable with all his clothes on.

The snake did not seem to care as instead it flicked its tail into the air. The moment it did this Alex felt all th fibers in his body screaming fo him to move.

Listening to his instincts Alex swam as fast as he could away from using previous spot, expecting a giant horror to appear under him.

Except was had appeared beside him was no creature, but if was a horror of itself. Alex was now gazing at a giant metallic spike.

A sharp metal spike age appeared exactly where Alex used to be. As it threatened to skewer him.

Alex quickly glanced at the snake seeing its gleeful expression. Alex was then thrown into confusion, realizing its fourth ability.

Except Alex wasn't Lyra, he wasn't Abel to instantly tell the ability and needed more research.

So that's what he did, as he dove into the water to check the surroundings of the metallic skewer.

What he saw proved it wasn't a manefestation of either of the snakes abilities. Instead it seemed to be a combination of them.

As Alex saw a giant crater around the skewer. This had meant the surroundings of the spike were used to create the spike.

Yet its metal appearance signified the surrounding materials had instead been melted and formed into the spike.

This was unlike its earth control or heat shield that remained close to the snake. Alex decided not to worry about it and just get out of the water.

He was at to much of a disadvantage in the water, unable to live freely. So he swam to the shore and climbed his way out of the small lake.

Alex was now ready to start dodging the metal spikes and find another way to lure the snake to the water.

Then he was suddenly struck with a brilliant idea as he glance at his whip.

If I can't bring the snake to the water I'll bring the water to the snake!

Alex's plan was to use the whips surrounding air shield to hit the water and fling it at the molten snake.

He had also decided that it was Lyra's job to figure out the new ability of the snake. That's exactly what she did.

As she ran through simulations and possibilities to find the snakes new ability. Wanting to make sure it was actually a new ability and not a combination of them.

Lyra was now analyzing the metal spike and any features of the snake she might've missed. Sadly a she found no features on the snake she missed.

Except she did find features around the snake and key details of the metal spike that suggested the snake had a third talent.

As she noticed what Alex had about the spike and that it had somehow made the dirt denser until it became metallic.

Somehow changing its atomic structure to that of mostly metal. Then it melted the metal and transformed it into a spike.

With the boiling water signifying the spikes heat, luckily Alex had not been in range of the boiling water and had been far enough away.

She had also noticed the grass around the snake was scorched, except it got progressively better the further away it was from the snake.

Perfectly fine grass only stood a few yards from the snake. Hinting that the snake couldn't move its heat shield away from itself.

The snake had also not sent earth attacks making Lyra sure it wasn't able to. She was now certain that the snake had a third talent.

"Hey baits, that snake has a third talent, it can create metal from our surroundings and shape it according to its will!"

Once again they felt annoyed, but also cautious of the snakes incredible abilities. As Xavier and Alex recalculated and schemed they had.

Except Alex's didn't change as he gripped onto his whip and swung it at the lake. The force and wind barrier sent the water flying toward the snake.

Threatening the encase the snake the water flew rapidly to the snake. Yet it never reached it, instead a giant metal wall blocked the water from getting too close.

Once the water splattered onto the metal wall it began sizzling before quickly turning into steam and floating away.

Suddenly reminding Lyra of her mistake.

"Oh yea forgot to tell you that the metal is extremely hot after being shaped."

She said this while shrugging it off like it didn't matter. As she instead gripped onto her sword prepared to fight.

Xavier on the other hand had climbed a tree and collected a bucket of water from the lake. Slowly maneuvering through the trees before arriving above the snake.

He then waited until Alex was sending water at the snake. The moment Alex slashed at the water Xavier dumped his bucket of water.

To his dismay a sudden small metal rain roof was created to protect the snake. Except Alex's attack went through, never stopped by scolding metal.

Lyra on the other hand realized one of the snakes limits. It was not Able to create two different shapes, while also having a limit on the amount of metal it could shape at once.

She immediately decided to share her findings.

"Keep doing that, that snake can only manipulate so much metal at once, and can't manipulate the shapes at once."

Xavier and Alex were suddenly overjoyed by the snakes limits. Except their joy was suddenly all smashed into tiny pieces.

As they watched the water Alex had sent toward the snake boil, and then turn into smoke before colliding with the snake.

Damnit I forgot about its stupid heat shield.

Every single one of them had the same thought. All angered by their stupidity, trying to come up with another idea.

Except their snake didn't give them time to think, as it dove underground. Quickly reacting the group began moving randomly to avoid the snake.

What they did not expect was for the snake to suddenly burst out of the ground sending flaming debris in every direction.

Lyra immediately understood how it was achieved. Understanding the snake had created a layer of metal.

Then it had slammed into that metal sheet that wasn't too far under ground. This caused the surrounding earth to fly up into the sky.

This was not before the snake heated up its heat shield to the max and turned the debris into scorching inferno's.

The metal was then absorbed by the snake, increasing its durability. As previously Lyra theorized that the snake was able to increase its molten shells strength by absorbing molten metal.

This series of events had now lead to it basically raining fireballs that weigh enough to crush someone.

Alex was unfazed, standing still with his whip by his side, occasionally splitting the incoming meteors in two.

Xavier in the other hand resorted to good old dodging. As he danced around the falling mounds of earth, avoiding each and every one of them.

After the meteor shower passed Alex and the rest of the group were shocked to see the snake dive into the nearby lake.

This had left each and every one of their draws dropped to the ground. Stunned as they watched the water evaporate before touching the snake.

This disheartened all of them, as not even a lake was able to cool the snake down. Except Alex had something in his hand that could solve that.

Well let's open you really do have an air barrier around you.

Alex talked to his while before backing away and running randomly. With his new plan being to use the immense force behind the whip to blow out the heat of the snakes lava with the help of its presumed wind barrier.

Suddenly the ground next to Alex shook as the snake came jumping out next to him. Taking this opportunity Alex brought back his whip.

Then he swung it with all his might straight at the snake, this time wind could not be evaporated, as the whip skimmed by the snake, not even touching it.

Except this is what Alex hoped for, as now his whip had no risk of melting, and the wind barrier could do its job.

Alex then watched in amazement as the molten lava next to the whips crack suddenly crystallized, forming into roughy obsidian.

It had worked!
