After finding themselves lost they went to search for the centipedes deforestation trail. Once their they'd just follow it.
This plan was eventually supposed to lead them to the the snakes path. Finally that would lead them back to the group.
Once the plan had been created they left immediately. As they searched for any signs of were the centipede would be.
Finally after about half an hour of wandering they had found its tracks. Alex was pretty sure about their time due to his customization of the system.
When Alex had been customizing his system he had enough insight to try and add a clock. To his surprise he was actually able to.
Now on his system home screen their was a giant display of their time. This had proven to be extremely useful.
As they had started they fight at about twelve, yet now it was six pm. Leaving them with few hours before the sun would set.
They had learned that it was extremely unsafe to travel at night. This was mainly due to the lighting and how hard it be able to spot attacking enemies.
So as a group they had decided to stop once the sun started to drop below the mountains. Luckily they still had a few hours before its setting.
They were going to use the time to its fullest, using it to find the snakes tracks. Only problem was they were at a crossroads.
There was two choices presenting themselves, travel left, or travel right. It was a tough decision and all of them were pondering it.
"I think we should go to the left."
Both Lyra and Xavier glanced at Alex, obviously wanting his reasoning. Yet Alex didn't follow up, instead jus waiting for their answers.
"You going to tell us your reason?"
Lyra asked with a bit of hidden threat hidden in her voice, as though she was demanding it. Alex was unfaze, finally accustomed to the new Lyra.
"Meh explaining a lot of work, just trust me, the odds are like better… wait never mind the odds are better to the right, never mind let's go to the right instead."
Lyra seemed oussed by Alex's answer, yet she still trusted Alex. Xavier on the other hand didn't care and would do whatever.
"Fine, I don't care which way we go."
"Yea me neither, I'm fine with whatever."
Alex shrugged before turning to the right and walking in the direction. The others still confused by his answer followed close behind.
After travelling for a bit Xavier decided to break the silence with questions he had aching his mind.
"Why'd you were you guys in the U.K?"
Lyra took in a deep breath before letting obra sigh.
"Kinda ran away on a trip, now I'm heading back to my family in the U.S."
Xavier was flabbergasted by Lyra's answer. Shocked by what she had done, but also proud, proud that she had decided to go back to them.
"Well at least your going back."
"What about you Alex?"
Xavier turned to Alex with obvious curiosity, especially because he had not seen Alex parents anywhere.
"Well I was studying abroad for two years, a month ish ago I was supposed to reunite with my orphanage."
Xavier was once again shocked, not by Alex's studying. Instead he was shocked that both Lyra and Alex seemed to have a rough childhood.
"Well what about you Xavier?"
Both Lyra and Alex asked the question in synchronization. Except Lyra's question seemed to have more command in it, like usual.
Xavier's answer was much more dull then the other two. As Xaveir felt the pressure of being the odd one out.
Yet he had always been the odd one out, as he was much older then both Lyra and Xavier, making their companionship seem a bit wierd.
Luckily for him Alex and Lyra were pretty mature for their age, so he doubted he'd get backlash for his reason.
"Well I was visiting some family in the U.K on my break, and I was heading back to the military when this plane just had to crash on another island.
Alex and Lyra both nodded while thinking about what they were going to have for dinner.
"Well I hope you spent good time with your family."
"Honestly I think your free from the grasps of the gorvernmet, if we escape stronger then ever then your going need to get freed from the military quick."
Lyra had given Xavier good foresight, causing him to ponder her words. Alex on the other hand seemed to actually care about Xavier's life.
"I spent some pretty good time with them, I would do the same things if given the chance."
Xavier let a grin form across his face showing his approval of his choices. Alex on the other hand let a small smile form.
This smile was more of a mix between reminiscing and happiness for Xavier, it was also pretty faint and not as radiant as Xavier's.
"Always treasure moments with your family."
Alex shut his eyes trying to fight off sad memories. Xavier was baffled by Alex's maturity and dint know how to respond.
Instead the groups just decided to stay quite. Lyra on the other hand had also headed Alex's words and looked up to the sky in sorrow.
Xavier once again felt left out, except now he was happy he was left out. If he too was missing his family he didn't know what he'd do with his life.
Eventually after a bit of travel they reached the cross section between the snakes trail and centipedes destruction.
As they turned their direction, following the path of ash and scorched ground. Yet the sun was starting to near the horizon.
Unknowingly they had quickened their pace, walking quickly before the sun decided to hide behind the mountains.
Then the peak of a far away mountain engulfed the suns light, as a giant shadow casted over them.
The sun was now setting, and the group had finally stopped moving. Surprisingly they had not encountered one monster after the colosal fight between the spider and centipede.
They assumed it was due the trails of destruction actings as territorial grounds, although they were not to sure.
Sadly this meant that they had not been able to hunt any creatures. Luckily Alex's pack still had some meat in it, just enough for a meal for three.
Xavier on the other hand had his pack containing sticks and the matches he always carried.
With these materials they were able to set up a campfire and start cooking the animal meat. Lyra sag impatiently by the fire.
As she drooled form the enchanting smell of the crispy, juicy meat. Alex showed more self control by taking the meat off the skewer and shoving it down his throat.
Seeing this Lyra jumped in grabbing another piece of meat and devouring it in an instant. Xavier was the only one that had showed self control.
As he grabbed the meat in a respectful mannered and ate slowly. He was able to savor the taste and truly enjoy the meal.
Yet this was a huge blunder on Xavier's part, as two ravenous beasts were waiting by his side for a single opening to steal his food.
Then the worst happened and Xavier sneezed, as he momentarily closed his eyes. Once he opened them again he saw the meat he had left gone.
Quickly looking around to see the thieves he saw both Alex and Lyra chewing something in their mouths.
Shaking his head Xavier got up and grabbed the two kids and dragged them to a nearby tree that had survived the rampage of the snake.
Then he sat them down with a dissapointed look on his face.
"You two are in timeout!"
Alex and Lyra crossed their arms and with scowls each stared at the ground, avoiding Xavier's eyes.
After a bit of small talk with Lyra Alex and her both got up and walked back to the fire before sitting down and enjoying its warmth.
Xavier obviously was enjoying himself, as he warmed his hands by the fire in approval of his work with the kids and the fire.
Without a warning the screen of Knowledge suddenly flickered above the fire. Except there was something off about the screen.
Actually there was something wrong with the three screens. As they were abnormally large and set up in a triangle from a birds perspective.
Alex looked at the screen before looking at Xavier and Lyra. Surprisingly both of them were looking at the same place.
"Can you guys see these screens?"
"Yes."
"Yea."
Alex looked back at the screen with a confused expression in his face.
Wierd… well this must be importante if all of us can see the screen.
[Congratulations on an a heaven defying victory. Due to your achievement each of you shall be awarded with temporary talents related to the molten snakes talents.]
After reading it Alex's jaw had dropped to the ground. Then a wave of joy and excitement crashed into him.
Alex turned to Xavier and Lyra to see the same expression of shock and excitement plastered on them.
"You guys are seeing this right?"
Alex asks the question to see if they had truly received the same reward. Except he didn't really need to, as their expressions told it a.
Both Lyra and Xavier nodded.
"Yea… I can't beleive it's giving such a reward… it's unbelievable!"
Xavier words were brimming with joy, as his patience had almost ran out. All of them wanted to check out their new ability.
"Honestly we should've gotten a talent way sooner for are hardships, at least the snake had some good talents."
Lyra was obviously hiding her excitement, yet Alex nor Xavier cared. They were to excited to let Lyra ruin it.
As the impatience replaced the shock Alex suddenly summoned his system screen.
[Days since arrival: 51
Time: 8:35 Pm]
Alex then gave a simple thought causing the screen to switch tabs before arriving on his info tab.
[Name: Alex Tren
Talents: None
Temporary Talent: Metal forging
