Sonia stirred awake slowly, her lashes fluttering as her eyes opened to the ceiling above. For a moment, her vision remained unfocused, her thoughts sluggish and heavy, as though sleep still clung stubbornly to her mind.
Her brain felt slightly dulled from slumber, wrapped in a haze that made everything feel distant and unreal.
A faint crease formed between her brows as awareness settled in. The memory came in fragments at first—his voice, low and steady… the warmth of his chest… the slow, soothing motion of his hand against her back.
She exhaled softly.
She pulled the duvet and glanced down, then shook her head before she knocked the duvet off her body.
She yawned and sat up on the bed. Her gaze trailed around the room once again while memories surged forward, Kelvin's slow melodious voice as he spoke while his hand soothed her back.
She could still feel the warmth, the calmness in his voice, the rare gentleness in his palms and how safe she had felt in his arms.
