Kelvin's car pulled up into his parking space, the engine dying down into a low hum before falling completely silent.
His hand lingered on the steering wheel for a while, fingers loosely wrapped around it as though letting go required more effort than it should. His gaze remained locked on her face, silently searching, probing, trying to reach past the stillness she wore like armor.
All through the ride home she had remained silent and desperately calm. Her gaze set ahead with a focus too intense to be true.
Kelvin had thought it wise not to disturb her. He had given her space, allowed her the silence, believing she needed time—to think, to process, to gather herself after everything that had happened. He had hoped her thoughts would settle, that the storm inside her would quiet with distance and time.
But now…Now it feels different. She wasn't thinking anymore. She was trapped. Locked inside something he couldn't see, couldn't touch, couldn't reach.
