Chapter : 6 : The Professor :
' Here he comes !!!! '
Cian had narrowed his eyes as he intensely looked at the figure coming out of the portal.
The person who came out of the magical portal an old man with grey beard and wrinkled face .
His hair was long and white with few stances of black hair still infact, although no one knows for how long it will stay .
However his posture was straight and there was no sign of weakening of the body that came with old age .
When he walked towards the podium everyone couldn't help but look at that man in awe .
And from just a glance people could feel that this person was a man of immense strength and importance .
However despite facing such a strong person in front of them the students or anyone else did not feel any fear in their heart .
It was as if they naturally understood that this kind old man will not harm them at all .
That grandfatherly smile on his face felt like a reassurance that no matter what - at least he was there to listen to them , in their problems , in their needs .
Looking from the edge of the crowd Cian carefully observe the old man and the reaction of the students and felt no surprise in his heart .
The man in front of him right now was perhaps a character even more iconic then the hero himself .
Oh ! You must be thinking who he is ?
" Silastharus Caledor - the principal of the Valerion Academy . "
Also regarded as the strongest magician in the entire Kingdom of Valerion , this old man is perhaps one of those very few characters that had even more aura then the hero himself .
' Silastharus Caledor ' - this very name is enough to earn respect throughout the kingdom and the rest of the people in the continent .
The number of achievements under his belt is numerous and cannot be counted .
" From a battlefield legend an excellent teacher who taught multiple new generations of experts for the kingdom , this man is a monstrous bird that left it's mark in the history of the continent in golden words ."
Some of you might be thinking why is Cian talking so highly of him .
The answer is simple and honest because he is that good .
If Cian were to describe the character of the man then it would be one of those old guard characters who were kind-hearted and acted as genuine grandparents protecting the younger generation from any harm.
But at the same time under that sincere and genuine smile and caring he was also one of the strongest person in existence .
This old man is a five centuries old master and is one of the longest living human in the world .
Throughout the ages many people have called him by many names .
However the one title that suits him the most is - ' THE PROFESSOR ' .
According to the information provided in the novel itself , Silastharus Caledor in his life had read more than 20,000 magical books .
It was also stated that he had read more than half of the magical library of the Valerion Academy .
And if you are thinking what so special about it .
After all considering he is the principle of Academy he should have access to all the books in the library .
Then let me tell me that you couldn't be more wrong .
The history of the kingdom of Valerion dates back to more than 6000 years making it one of the longest surviving human institution in the continent of Aethelgrada .
However the library of the Academy is even more older than the kingdom itself .
Because the library was never created by the kingdom .
Instead the entire Valerion Academy was centred around the library itself.
The library was actually created by an age old Empire also knowns the first human empire in the history of the continent .
The huge tower that people know today as the library is only 20% of its entire structure while 80% of the rest is actually buried deep underground .
It is an artificial dungeon a place full of various confusing turns and hidden traps meant to keep outsiders away .
It is said that the deepest parts of the library holds the ultimate secrets and powers of the old Empire and has one of the largest collection of magical books in the entire world of Fantasia .
Till this day no one has ever reached the bottom of the library .
And even the most detailed map goes as far as only 40% of the entire structure .
And Silastharus Caledor is one of the few characters who has actually visited deep within this library .
So yeah! pretty much he is the man deserving of the title of the professor.
" Infact many people believe that if the hero did not have the plot armour then this old man would have been the main character of the story. "
At the beginning of the story many people thought that the principle was just an overrated character .
This came because whenever there was a major incident in the kingdom the principle was always absent .
No matter if it was an attack from the dark followers or the Abyssal Kins he never showed up .
Hell ! Even when the danger reached the capital city itself the principle almost never came out .
And mysteriously no real reason was ever given in the novel as to why the strongest wizard of the kingdom was always absent in such important events.
The only major part that he played in the story was always coming after the battle was over and tackfully guiding the Hero from behind.
But accept for that he pretty much did nothing .
And as it happened over and over again during the first part of the story many people came to believe that the principle was never going to play any important role in the story .
Some pants even speculated that perhaps he was a dark character who was mixed with the villains .
However the real reveal started in the second part of the story when finally Silastharus Caledor proved just how strong he was .
At that time the hero and the group who were still students were facing a high level monster and it was at least a city level threat .
And even after using all their strength the hero party couldn't do anything to even harm that monster beast .
However just as the hero was about to have his journey permanently and that by the monster , Silastharus Caledor arrived on the battlefield .
And he destroyed that monster in a single spell .
After that the he only made a few real battle in the story but each battle he fought was a high end battle and every time he came it was a spectacle to watch .
This man knows magic like the back of his hand .
Although he masters in space time magic , he also has near perfect ability to use almost all kinds of elemental magics , non elemental magics , modern magics , even the ancient lost magics .
In the novel Silastharus Caledor was literally so strong that he once defeated an adult dragon all by himself .
And let me tell you that an adult Dragon is considered one of the strongest creatures in the world of Fantasia .
Even a small Dragon is strong enough to destroy a Kingdom alone and the adult Dragon that he defeated was a continental level threat .
And this was when he was already injured before hand when he was fighting against and entire army of the abyssal kins .
This just goes to show what kind of a powerhouse he was .
" Alas ! At the end of the day he was still not be child of the destiny . "
After fighting the dragon Silastharus Caledor was forced to use all his life force to defeat the remaining abyssal kins before they could reach the normal people and cause any harm .
Truly ! this was a sad ending for someone who had so much more potential to show .
However this brings another terrifying prospect in mind .
" That is in the novel it was clearly stated that there are even more powerful and stronger characters than Silastharus Caledor who were to be revealed . "
This thought alone was enough to show that the power level of this world was on a very high platform .
And looking at himself Cian could only reflect that just how far he has to go if he can truly call himself strong in this world .
' I need to get strong fast because now the story will progress in a rapid manner . '
Just as Cian was engrossed in his thoughts the main man of the topic - Silastharus Caledorhad already started giving his speech .
" Welcome young ones to the Valerion Academy . "
The moment Silastharus Caledorhad spoke up everyone instinctively felt that they should give their undivided attention to what he was saying .
" It is an honour for me to have such wonderful talents in my academy and I am glad that once again I have the duty to raise another generation of protectors for the kingdom. "
" Right now I can give you a lecture on what you are expected to do in the Academy , what rules you have to follow what are the expectations we have of you and go on .... "
" But I will not do anything like that . "
As soon as he said that a silence fell on the fields as everyone looked at him with curious intensity .
Seeing that everyone was looking at him the man continued speaking .
" I will not do that because I know that this are things that cannot be explained to you in a single long speech . "
" This are somethings that you will have to learn by yourself while you are at the academy and I am sure that you will learn it . "
With that he gave a pause and then his serious face turned into a mischievous grin .
" But more importantly those long speeches are really boring and I know that you will not like to hear something like that . "
" And don't worry when I was your age I didn't like it either so consider me on your team . "
Hearing this the crowd of students burst into laughter with some of the teachers joining them in the fun.
On the other hand the more strict teachers like Alistair Frost could only shake his head while thinking - ' this old man is more troublesome to deal with then the students . '
Even Cian couldn't help but have a small smile on his face .
While being a strong person this old principle was also known to be quite the cheerful guy with sometimes acting more childish then the students of the Academy .
This simple humility and loving nature was also the reason why this man was celebrated so much .
" So all I will say to you here is that after graduating from this Academy a few of you will become a wizard or you will become a warrior . "
" Perhaps you will become an alchemist or a great summoner. "
" There is also the chance of you becoming a Rune Knight . "
As he said he looked at every student present as if looking at his own grandchildren's .
" But whatever you become in the future remember this... "
" The true worth of a book is not judged by the number of spell written within it but by the light it leaves behind when it is closed . "
With that a guest of wind went through the room as a light and encouraging aura was felt by everyone .
The old principle on the stage then cheerfully stretched out his hand and said in an geniune inviting gesture .
" I believe that there is a story that is incomplete . Shall we find it together . "
