Chapter 16 - Chapter 16

Diana was glad that they were not taking her off and just killing her now but that didn't mean that they were not going to do it later.

Diana thought hard while making sure that she didn't display anything on her face. She wondered if she would ever get a chance to talk to Tina. Should she tell her that she has something or maybe the car has something that they were looking for and are desperate to get back? Who knows if she didn't know it was there it would mean nothing to her, and she will come back or if she knows it there, she will just send it back. But that does raise a question in her mind why did he hide it, to begin with? The Second thing was that the Leader had told her not to mention it to Tina so that raised that question even more intently.

She knew that for the most part, Sam was not that secretive. Well, at least she didn't think that he was until she saw all the things that they were taking out of the house. Now the fact that they were looking for something that was not there, and now it looked like Tina might have it.

The leader had her take a seat where he could keep an eye on her and then asked, "When is the last time that you tried to call Tina's cell?"

Diana said, "I have sent 5 texts letting her know that I was missing her and that I really needed to have her back or at least to call and have left 3 voice mails saying the same. Not to mention that I am having the girls do the same so I am sure that she will get a hold of me as soon as she gets the messages."

Diana thought to herself that she didn't know anything more that she could be doing since Tina obviously had her phone off.

Diana thought back on her life and the way that she had been with Tina and now she is thinking that she should have just made her a real daughter in her mind and let the resentment that she had for her sister fade away. She knew that Tina would have just excepted her as her real mother, but she had wanted one that was truly hers. The feeling of being cheated out of something always seemed to get in the way every time she looked at her.

Now that Tina was gone, and Sam was no longer there, she found that she was missing her and did want to see her and talk to her. She was thinking that maybe they could change things and she could become the daughter that she had wanted to be but never was given the chance.

The two of them sat in silence just watching the men carry out boxes. Diana still could not believe the number of boxes that they were taking. By the looks of them, they were not even close to being full. They were separated by where they had gotten them based on what was written on the sides of the boxes.

Diana didn't know what he did, but she knew that it was not a good idea to know too much. So, she kept her eyes closed to everything that he had been doing for years.

Slowly the men started to gather in the room and just started standing around waiting for the rest to finish. Once they were all there the Leader turned to the two men that he had appointed as the ones to stay and look after her and said, "You both know the orders she is never to be out of sight, and you are to help her get the object back and return it to the base."

Diana heard that she was never to be out of sight, and she knew that meant that she was not going to have privacy the whole time that they were there. They might not be looking at her, but she was not going to be allowed to close the doors. She was thinking that this all was just wrong it was going to be worse than prison. She would have objected to it, but she knew that if she protested too much, they would either throw her in a cell where they could monitor her or just get rid of her totally. She didn't understand why they were doing this to her. After all, she knew nothing about what he did, or anything else. She had never wanted to know anything after they had gotten rid of her sister.

After he finished the orders to the guards then he turned to Diana and said, "It was nice seeing you again June make sure you get our item back to us soon. We need it back promptly or the value of it and you become worthless. We don't want to have to go collect it from Tina, but we will if we have to."

Diana knew that it meant that she was to keep playing the role of her sister and her time was limited because they would start looking for Tina. She had never treated Tina as her own but that didn't mean that she didn't still love her. She knew that if they went after Tina, she was not sure what she would do. She knew that the company was not above making her disappear. If they thought that it was in their best interest, or if she became a problem for them, and now, she didn't have her father protecting her.

After all the others left the house, it became dead silent there. The two guards wound up taking a seat on the couch, but they really had nothing to say. They were not expected to get to know her, or anything. Just keep an eye on her and make sure that she didn't get away for even a few seconds, and to make sure that she didn't do anything that would interfere with them getting the device back.

As Diana moved around the house the two men stuck to her like glue, she thought that they really didn't need to do that. Because she knew that if she ever did truly run that she might get away, but they would find her and kill her, and she doubted that she would even be able to get away. She knew that they had to stay so close that she was not going to be able to contact Tina without them knowing. That was really why they were there, it was not so much to watch her and stop her from getting away, they knew she was their best shot at getting their hands on Tina. That was something that her dad had stopped for years although she was not sure why they were after her to begin with.

As Diana made a snack and tea, she wondered what the child could do for them unless they had done something to her, or Sam had done something or passed something down to her. She hated all the secrets and it had caused fights between her and Sam, but all he had to do was remind her what happened to her sister, and she remembered what she looked like lying there. It still made her breathe hard seeing her like that even after he had gotten things cleaned up some. Thinking back to the time that she first found out she always blamed herself for that happening to June after all she wanted something like that to happen to her since she felt like her sister had stolen Sam and her life away from her.

She had never really admitted to herself that she wanted her sister dead. That was truly the reason that she couldn't face the love for Tina. She had been the child that she had wanted to carry and was now just the reminder of the deep-seated guilt that she was feeling.

The teapot started whistling and brought her mind back to what was going on now. She was stuck with these guys, but she had to admit that they were kind of hunky. They were so much different than Sam had been, but she could tell that their intelligence was nowhere near what Sam's was either. If she had not been dealing with everything, she would have thought that they would have been more appealing, she did think that they were kind of cute in a brutish sort of way.

Diana Just shook her head and thought where did that come from? She smiled and thought might as well make the best of the circumstances and asked, "Would you like some tea and cookies?"

The men looked at each other like they had no idea what they were supposed to do and were looking for the other to show them what to do.

Diana said, "Come on help yourself." As she attempted to hand them a cup on a little saucer and another saucer with a couple of cookies on it.

At first, they were hesitant to take it, but they knew that they were going to be with her and if they were going to eat or drink, they were going to have to make do with whatever she provided for them, or they were going to have to order it in. First one took them and then the other followed suit. Diana thought that it was not going to hurt to try and at least try and be friendly with them if the worst came to worst, they might let her go instead of just killing her after all she knew nothing.

She did see that they had started to loosen up now that the leader was gone and instead of both of them watching her every movement now it was just one of them at a time for the most part that was watching her. Diana was not sure if she was going to be expected to keep them fed and happy, but she figured anything that would make them see that she didn't know anything, and was a good person. Was going to be in her interest to show them that to get them on her side. She didn't know if that would help at all, but it was going to be better than if she showed them that she was a royal pain in the ass.

Diana tried to get them to talk about themselves, but she had no real luck, they had been told not to get too attached to anyone that they were guarding. So, they were pretty tightlipped on themselves but at least they would respond to her. All Diana could hope for was that Tina would come back soon with the thing that they were looking for so that all this would just go away.

As it got close to dinnertime Diana looked at the things that were in the house and saw that there was nothing that she wanted to fix for food, especially since she was not hungry at all anyway. Diana looked at the guys that were watching some sporting thing and really looked like they were getting into it. She thought that if they were like this on the first day that she might be able to slip a text to Tina without them noticing in a few days. That is if she gets Tina to have her phone on and then be willing to talk to her about it.

Diana thought that she would test them just a little, but it had to all look so innocent in case they were watching her more than they were letting on she didn't want it to look like she was testing them.

As she watched the two guys, she noticed the longer the game was on the more into it they both became so she waited for the commercials to get over. When the action to really be in full swing and that is when she decided to make her way out of the kitchen. At first, she made sure that she stayed where they could easily look and see her. As she noticed them more into the game she started to wander back and forth a little. Then finally stepped out of sight like she was looking for something and dialed one of the pizza places to make a delivery. So that she could be on her phone in case they checked, and everything would look innocent.

Diana let out a gasp when one of the guys grabbed the phone out of her hand and as she looked around the other guy was standing in the other doorway to the kitchen.
