Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

Diana said, "You scared me."

With a big smile on her face letting them both know that she was not hiding anything. She thought that she was glad that she had dialed the pizza place instead of trying to call Tina not that she would not have been able to say that she was just trying to get ahold of her like she was supposed to do. But she knew that if she was going to contact Tina, they were going to want to know everything that was said.

Diana said, "I am glad you are here. What would you like on the pizza? I was just calling it in."

Ron put the phone to his ear in time to hear, "Pizza. What can I get for you today."

Ron said, "Just a minute." In a stern tone then handed the phone back to her.

Diana looked at him and could tell that Ron had to be at least 12 years older than Dave and they both looked like they lived in a gym. She was not sure if they were going to want Pizza, but it was the only delivery number that she had the number in her phone. And she had thought that most people didn't have any trouble eating it because they could get the topping that they wanted.

Ron said, "Just get whatever you like."

Dave simply nodded anything at this point would be good he was starving the tea and cookies that he ate earlier only made him all the more hungry.

Diana ordered two large pies. One that was just plain, and the other that had everything. She figured that if it had things on it that they didn't like they would just pick it off, especially since she had asked them what they wanted.

The thing that Diana hated was that they were not allowing her to close the door completely even when she was using the bathroom. They told her that the only way that she could close the door completely as if there was one of them in there with her or if she turned over her phone and there was not a phone in the room. They did allow the door to almost close so that they couldn't see but would still be able to yank it open with no hindrance.

As the time went on it was getting close to bedtime and she wondered just what she was going to have to put up with for that. They were a lot laxer with everything that she was doing when she let them have her phone and as long as she didn't try and lock them out, she was able to pull the doors closed one of the guys simply sat outside her door and they rotated through the night.

Diana got ready for bed as soon as they had eaten, she did manage to eat one slice well kind of picked at it as the guys ate theirs, she didn't want to be rude so she sat there mostly just so that they could eat in peace without trying to look after her. As soon as Dinner was complete, she let them have her phone so that she was going to be able to dress for bed without having the door partly open for them in the room. She collected her phone and plugged it in on the nightstand. She was hoping that she might get a late-night call from Tina, but she really doubted that she would and the later it got the more unlikely that it was going to happen.

Diana noticed that this was the time that the sadness and the tears were coming the hardest with everything going on during the day that she was just kept so busy that she didn't have time to think but now that she was laying down and this would be the time that she would be with him now the sadness was overwhelming, and the tears wouldn't stop.

Ron had taken the first shift and positioned his chair so that he could look in and see that she was not on the phone while he played a game on his. It made him a little sad to hear her crying in the dark thinking it must be the loss of her husband and that her girl was missing. He knew that if he were to just sit there it was likely that he might doze. He knew a guy that fell asleep guarding someone who never woke. He remembered all the extra work that it caused the whole team that had to go clean up the whole family. With a shutter, he knew that he would never make that mistake. He was content playing the game with the sound off and watching her make any kind of movement.

Diana had a restless night's sleep with dreams filled with when she first arrived at the house and dreams of her sister yelling at her to protect her husband and daughter. She was running from her as she saw the hole in her head and the dark red oozing out of the hole. June was reaching out for her, and it didn't matter how fast she was running, June just kept getting closer and closer.

Diana awoke dripping with sweat and her heart was racing, she had not had any of this type of dream since the first week that she had moved in. She opened her eyes to see that Ron had come in to check on her and make sure that she was alright. Diana was kind of glad that it was Ron that had been there although there was not much difference between them at least Ron was closer to her age, and she found a little comfort in that, and if she had to admit it to herself that she was slightly attracted to him.

Diana was glad that she had decided to wear one of her heavier nightgowns to bed because when she looked down, she had thrown all the covers off during the dream. The last thing that she wanted now was to give these two guys any ideas that she was going to be putting out for them to keep them happy.

Diana looked up at Ron who was looking down at her and she did what she could to throw the covers back on herself.

Ron asked, "Are you okay? I heard you calling out. It sounded like you were in trouble. So, I came in."

Diana saw the concerned look on his face and felt a warm tingle that made her give a little smile, she couldn't help it.

Just then the door was pushed in with a bang as it slammed into the wall and the door stopped. Dave had pulled out his gun, it was cocked and ready to shoot anything that he saw.

Diana let out a little scream from the shock of the door being kicked open and slamming into the wall.

Ron quickly said, "Everything is alright. She was just having a nightmare, but everything is fine."

Dave glanced around the room making sure that there was no one or nothing strange about the room before he uncocked his gun and holstered it.

Ron said, "I have this. You still have a few hours before you have to relieve me."

Dave shot him a dirty look since he was awoken by the noise. Then he grumbled something that neither one of them could understand but they could tell he was just letting out a little of his frustration from being awoken.

As Dave left Ron smiled down at Diana and repeated the question, "Are you alright?"

Diana looked up at him and gave him half of a smile and said, "It was just a dream. I am sorry for disturbing you both."

Ron gave her another smile as he glanced down at her still-uncovered legs and said, "It's not a problem."

Diana was glad that the room was dark so that he could not see that she was blushing. It had been quite a few years since she had anyone checking out her legs and who knew how much more he had been looking at in the pail light that had been coming in through the window.

Diana decided that she was going to have to make sure that she shaved her legs early tomorrow just in case that sort of thing happened again. She usually had them shaved but no one ever looked and from what she could tell he looked at them and took a good long look.

Diana quickly fell back to sleep after she made sure that there was nothing else showing out from under the blankets. This time the dreams didn't haunt her, but Ron did make an appearance in them she was at an outside table at what looked like the country club that she belonged to just sipping on some coffee and looking off into the distance when along came Ron. Only this time he was not dressed in his suit, he was only wearing a towel. The room spun and it changed from outside to a hotel room she was no longer sitting at the table just looking at him she was in his arms being carried to the bed.

As he went to sit her down on the bed Diana awoke to herself crashing to the floor as she hit the floor with a thump as she fell out of bed.
