Chapter 10 - Chapter 10:Hidden Moves

Lila noticed the change long before anything actually happened.

It wasn't loud.

It wasn't obvious.

But it was there.

Subtle shifts in behavior. Glances that lasted a second too long. Conversations that stopped the moment she walked past.

She didn't react.

Didn't acknowledge it.

But she noted everything.

Carefully.

So someone's already moving.

Not openly.

Not recklessly.

But carefully.

Just like her.

That made it worse.

Classes went on as usual, but Lila barely paid attention.

Her focus drifted instead—toward patterns.

Toward inconsistencies.

Toward people.

Ryan laughed with his friends like nothing had changed.

Mira stayed close to her circle, flawless as always.

Alex…

Was nowhere to be seen.

That alone was suspicious.

But Lila didn't search for him.

If he wanted to be seen, he would appear.

If he didn't—

Then forcing it would only put her at a disadvantage.

So she waited.

Observed.

Calculated.

It happened during lunch break.

Not dramatically.

Not suddenly.

Just… quietly.

A student approached her desk.

"Hey," he said casually. "You dropped this earlier."

He placed a small folded paper on her table.

Lila looked at it.

Then at him.

Her expression calm.

"I don't remember dropping anything."

The boy shrugged. "It had your name on it."

Then he left.

Just like that.

No hesitation.

No awkwardness.

Too clean.

Lila stared at the paper for a moment.

Didn't touch it immediately.

Too obvious.

Her gaze flickered upward.

Nothing unusual.

No spike.

No alert.

Which meant—

Whoever sent it knew how to stay hidden.

Or worse—

Wasn't directly connected.

Lila finally picked it up.

Slowly.

Carefully.

Then unfolded it.

Inside—

Only one line.

"You shouldn't trust what you see."

Lila's fingers stilled.

Her eyes didn't widen.

Didn't react.

But her thoughts sharpened instantly.

So they know.

Not everything.

But enough.

Enough to send a message.

Enough to warn her.

Or threaten her.

Or test her.

Her lips curved faintly.

Cold.

Interesting.

She folded the paper again.

Calmly.

Then slipped it into her bag.

No reaction.

No panic.

No mistake.

Later that day, Lila stepped outside toward the quieter side of the school.

Not because she needed air.

But because she needed space to think.

Her steps slowed as she approached the corner—

Then stopped.

Voices.

Familiar.

Too familiar.

Lila didn't move forward.

Didn't reveal herself.

Instead—

She stayed just out of sight.

Listening.

"…You're taking too long," Mira said softly.

Her tone wasn't sweet.

Not here.

Not now.

It was sharp.

Impatient.

Ryan exhaled lightly. "Rushing this won't help."

"And waiting won't either."

A pause.

Then—

"Something's changed about her."

Lila's eyes narrowed slightly.

So you noticed.

Ryan chuckled quietly.

"She's still the same."

"No," Mira said. "She's not."

Silence followed.

Then—

Movement.

Lila shifted slightly, just enough to see.

And what she saw—

Confirmed everything.

Ryan stood close to Mira.

Closer than necessary.

Too natural.

Too comfortable.

Then—

He reached for her.

And she didn't pull away.

Their lips met.

Easy.

Familiar.

Like it had happened many times before.

Lila watched.

Quietly.

Without emotion.

Without reaction.

Not because it didn't matter.

But because now—

It made sense.

So this is how it was.

Her gaze remained steady.

Cold.

Analytical.

In her past life, she never questioned it.

Never looked closely.

Never doubted.

And that was her mistake.

I wasn't betrayed suddenly.

I ignored it repeatedly.

The realization settled calmly.

No anger.

No pain.

Just clarity.

Lila stepped back.

Silent.

Unnoticed.

Then turned.

And walked away.

She didn't confront them.

Didn't expose them.

Didn't react.

Because reacting now would only benefit them.

And Lila was done playing by their rules.

She found a quiet place behind the building and sat down.

Her posture relaxed.

But her mind—

Focused.

So… what now?

She leaned back slightly, eyes half-lidded.

Thinking.

Revenge wasn't something rushed.

It wasn't emotional.

It was strategic.

Calculated.

Precise.

Her fingers tapped lightly against her arm.

Ryan was careful.

Mira was observant.

Alex was unknown.

Aria was watching.

Too many moving pieces.

Too many hidden variables.

Her lips curved faintly.

Good.

Because that meant—

She wasn't bored.

Her gaze sharpened slightly.

But I can't lose focus.

Her first goal.

Her reason.

Her purpose.

Revenge.

Not just against Ryan.

Not just Mira.

But everyone who played a part in her death.

This time—

She would control everything.

Every move.

Every reaction.

Every outcome.

That evening, Lila returned home.

The house was quiet.

Still.

Empty.

She stepped inside, placing her bag down calmly.

"They won't be back tonight," the maid informed her.

Lila nodded once.

Her father was away again.

Work.

Always work.

And her stepmother—

With him.

Always.

A faint smile appeared on Lila's lips.

But it didn't reach her eyes.

Her father loved her.

That much she knew.

But love wasn't always enough.

And her stepmother—

Lila's gaze darkened slightly.

She never stopped.

Even when she was gone.

Even from a distance.

Her influence remained.

Her intentions—

Unchanged.

Lila walked upstairs slowly.

Each step steady.

Each thought clear.

She paused at the hallway.

Looking at the closed doors.

The quiet space.

The stillness.

Then—

Her gaze shifted slightly.

Toward her own reflection in the glass window.

For a brief moment—

She stared at herself.

Calm.

Composed.

Unrecognizable.

Then—

Her eyes flickered upward.

And for a split second—

She saw it.

[Danger Level: ???]

Lila froze.

The number hovered above her reflection.

Faint.

Unstable.

Wrong.

Then—

It disappeared.

Like it had never been there.

Her breath slowed.

Controlled.

Measured.

But her mind—

Sharp.

Alert.

Focused.

Because now—

She understood something new.

Something dangerous.

Something she hadn't considered before.

Her fingers curled slightly at her side.

"…So it's not just them."

Her voice was barely a whisper.

Her gaze remained fixed on the empty space.

Where the number had been.

Where it shouldn't have been.

Where it couldn't have been.

And yet—

She saw it.

Clear.

Undeniable.

Lila's lips curved slowly.

Not confused.

Not afraid.

But—

Interested.

"…Then what exactly am I becoming?….
