Fragrant meat was right in front of it; the zombie wouldn't stop just because of Jill's horror.
Flesh monsters, various types of infected, Wesker, and the Umbrella Corporation logo flashed through her mind one by one. The images in Jill's head finally settled on the creature that had returned from the dead before her.
Jill's finger rested on the trigger repeatedly, but facing the gradually approaching zombie, she could never quite make up her mind to pull it.
Maybe they were just sick? Maybe there was still a way to save civilians, and she should just restrain them for now?
This being her first encounter, combined with the kindness in her bones, made her hesitate.
"Stop, or I'll shoot!"
Jill shouted.
"Ma'am, I must remind you, they died a long time ago. Now, they are just moving corpses."
Watching the approaching zombie, Asa felt compelled to offer a tip.
Hearing Asa words, Jill's gaze gradually grew firm, and she completely cast aside her hesitation.
*Bang!*
Sparks erupted from the muzzle of the Samurai Edge. The bullet struck the flesh monster's chest, causing a burst of dark red blood to explode.
After taking a solid hit from the bullet, the zombie merely stumbled before continuing to walk toward Jill with unwavering determination.
For some reason, the zombie didn't even spare a glance at Asa. It seemed even zombies were starting to become picky eaters.
Jill fired several more shots at the zombie, but it remained active and lively, leaving her utterly astonished.
"Are you kidding me?"
A cold gleam flashed as Asa gripped a military dagger in a reverse hold, driving it fiercely into the back of the zombie's head until it emerged from the eye socket.
[EXP +1]
Without hesitation, he snatched the kill to hog the experience points. A hint of surprise flashed through Asa mind. If one zombie gave one point of experience, how much would Zombie Dogs, Zombie Crows, Zombie Monkeys, and Zombie Spiders give?
What about Tyrants, Lickers, and Hunters?
"You... how?"
Jill asked. Asa movement in killing the zombie just now was a one-hit kill; his actions resembled an experienced assassin more than a researcher.
Asa spread his hands.
"As a researcher, it's perfectly reasonable to carry a dagger at all times, isn't it?"
Now that a zombie had appeared before Jill, it basically confirmed that the information Asa provided was factual. The fact that an informant knew martial arts was no longer important.
"After infection, the T-Virus destroys the Frontal Cortex of the brain. Zombies lose human rationality and emotion, retaining only the primitive instincts of the Brainstem."
"Officer, you'd better shoot the zombie directly in the head to kill it, or break its limbs to ensure it has no mobility."
Seeing that the current Jill was still quite green when facing zombies, Asa offered her some small tips.
"The problem now is, Shen, we can't do this with just the two of us."
Although Jill's personality was somewhat impulsive, she could always remain calm at critical moments. With her as the only combatant and Asa as a civilian, were they really going to storm the entire zombie nest alone?
This wasn't a game; it wasn't something one person could clear by going into 'Musou' mode.
"I need backup."
After saying a word into the walkie-talkie, Jill hung up.
"You're not the only one with a backup plan,"
Jill said, tilting her chin up slightly.
After Asa warned her about a mole in the team, Jill had performed her own process of elimination.
After a round of screening, she was certain that the person she chose could absolutely not be bought!
Barry, a member of the S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team and a weapons expert, was an extremely reliable partner.
Of course, Jill was still cautious; she only asked Barry, who was like a mentor and father to her, to follow from a distance without telling him the true details.
However, now that the mole within the Alpha Team had been ruled out, there was no need to remain on guard against Barry.
After telling Asa about her arrangements, Jill saw him make a face like he was struggling to hold back.
"Are you laughing, Shen?"
"No, I'm not. No matter how funny it is, I won't laugh."
Asa felt like he was about to evolve into a troll, so he quickly straightened his expression.
At this point in time, Wesker indeed hadn't had the chance to kidnap Barry's family to coerce him yet. This steady elder was worthy of trust.
Without making Jill and Asa wait long, Barry arrived before them with his weapons and equipment.
"Jill!"
Seeing the corpse on the ground, Barry instantly understood the gravity of the situation without needing an explanation and handed the equipment he brought to Jill.
Thus, the three-person team was officially formed.
Jill Valentine, an elite of the Raccoon City Police Department, a member of S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team, and an explosive ordnance disposal expert.
Barry Burton, also an elite of the Raccoon City Police Department, a member of S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team, an experienced veteran, and a weapons design expert.
Asa, an ordinary citizen.
"Officers, you don't need to be too distracted trying to protect me. I have combat capabilities as well."
To avoid looking like a deadweight, Asa pulled out the Comrades Hammer.
The heavy industrial style immediately caught the eye of weapons expert Barry. He stepped closer and said:
"Is this a gun designed by the Umbrella Corporation? I can see it?"
"Don't worry, there's plenty of time on the way."
"Here."
Jill tossed over a tactical flashlight.
"Let's go."
The three of them then stepped into the tunnel leading to the Training Facility.
Outside, it was still a bright, sunny day. However, after the three entered, the only light source left was the sunlight from outside the tunnel, and visibility dropped noticeably.
Jill and Barry turned on their tactical flashlights, silently observing their surroundings.
Meanwhile, Asa activated the Thermal Imaging Mode in one eye. Cyberoptics mode, initiate.
The body temperature of the zombies stayed around 20-30 degrees Celsius; at this temperature, thermal imaging could still clearly display them.
Perhaps because Marcus had only been resurrected for a week, the infection hadn't had time to spread yet, and the tunnel was calm.
"Clear!"
Asa reached this conclusion and walked forward on his own.
In the dim light, Jill and Barry glanced at each other.
Were Umbrella Corporation employees all this brave nowadays?
Or rather...
Jill recalled everything from the moment she met Asa until now; he always seemed to have a relaxed vibe.
More accurately, he seemed like he was taking a leisurely stroll despite being in a dangerous situation.
"Maybe Shen is very familiar with this environment?"
