Chapter 11 - The Embodiment of Mecha Power

A gigantic monster of colossal size rose from the water, revealing its massive body capable of covering a skyscraper. Anyone who saw this would feel their knees tremble. And a sense of helplessness before such a majestic force of nature.

"Urrr-aargh!" A piercing roar burst from Godzilla's jaws—a roar heard across the entire continent, while sensitive instruments could detect it even on the other side of the globe. The alpha predator had come to inspect its territory, having heard the roar of an unknown creature.

The first monster also turned toward Godzilla and roared back, unwilling to bow. And the two colossal beings, awe-inspiring in their power, stared each other down…

"A Titan brawl, ha!" I exclaimed, watching from the best seat possible—from the sky, hovering on a flying carpet. I was still trying to find some kind of suitable weapon, but I couldn't. More precisely, anything that could hurt them was usually something like a spaceship—Normandy and the like—which required a crew. I also thought about the BFG 9000 from Doom, but… why not?

Except to get that gun, I'd need to actually play Doom—and I didn't have time for that right now. So I moved on to another option—mechs. I mean… not Evangelion "Evas," since I probably couldn't pilot them anyway, both because I'm not a descendant of Adam or Lilith, and because there are souls involved. I also thought about Gurren Lagann, but that runs on Spiral Energy, which I don't have—and which probably doesn't even exist in this universe.

So…

I launched the Gundam anime and the episode where Wing Gundam appears—a fairly powerful mech, one that could probably stand against Titans like these. Though it was much smaller, around twenty meters tall.

"Well… oh…" I could literally feel the vibrations as the two monsters clashed, the massive waves from their collision just a side effect. Godzilla immediately showed itself as the Alpha, effortlessly smashing the other monster into the water with a swipe of its tail.

"This is the biggest object I've tried to pull out…" I muttered, focusing on the Gundam episode, especially when the mech appeared. My hand passed through the laptop screen, and I felt cold metal—or something like it. Then I pulled back… extracting a small figurine of the mech.

"It worked!" I shouted.

I actually did it. But how do I activate it—oh…

The moment I thought about activating the mech, I suddenly found myself inside it. Or it was like it "grew" around me—I'm not sure what exactly happened. But the fact remained: I was now sitting in the pilot's seat… and I had no idea what to do. Everything inside looked incredibly advanced.

"Initializing Zero System… scanning pilot's brain… anomaly detected… adapting to anomaly… Zero System activated and adapted to pilot."

"Whoa…" I muttered, feeling like my brain had just been run over. "I don't remember that from the anime… though I didn't exactly watch it properly…"

"Son…" Suddenly, I heard my mother's voice…

"What?!" I flinched, looking around. "What the… damn mech, are you making me hallucinate?"

The Zero System is an interactive interface between the human pilot and the mobile suit. The system calculates the outcomes of possible actions, and the pilot processes them and mentally sends commands back.

"Uh… alright," I muttered. In the next moment, my senses seemed to amplify, and I saw… water.

"Did I fall into the ocean?" I said.

Well, that made sense.

I activated the Gundam while standing on the flying carpet, and there's no way it could support that kind of weight. So I fell… from nearly a kilometer up, into the water. And I didn't even feel it while inside. Then again, this thing can apparently withstand attacks strong enough to destroy cities or even islands, so… makes sense.

There was just one problem… I still didn't know how to control it.

But the Zero System helped. The moment I thought about getting out of the water, the mech shot upward as if the water didn't exist. Soon, I could see the two giants still fighting—and it was obvious that Godzilla was winning without much trouble.

"Alright, so the system responds to my commands…"

That seemed logical based on what I'd already figured out. I felt a connection to the mech, but it was new, not fully established. And I had just heard a hallucination… so this thing might mess with my mind.

Even now, sitting in a twenty-meter mech, those giants were still… well… gigantic. And they weren't paying attention to me at all, which made sense. They were focused on each other. Godzilla looked at the other monster with clear superiority, while the creature bled some kind of blue blood…

"Time for me to do something," I said, ready to join the fight.

I wanted to test the mech, and the Zero System responded. I could see possible attack outcomes and their consequences, which felt strange. I liked the option where my Gundam delivered a powerful punch straight to the creature's face. Just a fist. Considering its armor was made of Gundanium, the monster would take more damage than the mech.

The moment I mentally chose that option, the mech launched forward at immense speed. Breaking the sound barrier instantly, its fist slammed into the wounded creature…

A deafening explosion followed. The monster's jaw tore apart and fell into the water, staining it with blue blood.

"Rrr…" Godzilla growled, now watching me—or rather, the mech—carefully. But soon it shifted its attention back to the other monster, pinned it down with its foot, and then…

Energy began to gather along its dorsal plates. The mech warned me about it, as well as about rising radiation levels.

Godzilla opened its jaws, glowing with a blue-white light, and unleashed a devastating beam that split the monster in half. Then it kicked the corpse aside, glanced at me with an unreadable expression, let out a low rumble, and dove back into the ocean.

The Day of Mourning when candles were lit all over the world in memory of the thousands who died. No one could hide what had happened. It shook humanity to its core. The colossal Titans had revealed themselves in all their terrifying glory, and one helicopter had even captured footage of the second one arriving and fighting the first.

K-Day—or Kaiju Day, as it came to be called—the day humanity faced a new threat. People had already begun thinking about ways to fight such creatures… and one mech gave them an idea, while also drawing attention to itself.

A mechanical robot capable of battling such monsters first became the focus of the military and government, and only later did information about it leak to the public. Scientists and engineers around the world began considering the possibility of building something similar. Nuclear weapons might work—but the consequences would be catastrophic. Something more precise was needed, and this mech showed a possible path.

"Yes, finally!" I exclaimed, sitting in a Starbucks in New York. A laptop lay in front of me, and my attention was focused entirely on it—specifically, on The Sims.

My character, with a scientist career, had just created a "Cloning Device" and reached level nine in the Scientist career. The device was built on a "Robo-Constructor" in the in-game lab, and according to its description, it could clone objects and even Sims—that is, people. But for me, the important part was objects.

"Thank you so much for the drink," I smiled at the barista and left the café. I walked into a nearby alley, pulled out the portal gun, and fired at the wall. A portal opened, revealing… mountains. Of course. I stepped through and found myself in the Alps. I liked this place.

Once I was far from people, I immediately reached into the screen and pulled out the device. It was small in my hand, but when I placed it on the ground, it expanded to full size—large enough for a person to stand on.

Then, just like in the game, I placed the item I wanted to copy on the right side. The device immediately activated. The item—a dinosaur portal gun, the one I had been using this whole time. I had no idea how much charge it had left, since I knew Rick sometimes replaced the "battery" in his portal gun. Less than a minute later, the left side lit up, and an identical gun appeared.

I picked it up, fired it at the ground, and confirmed—it worked exactly the same.

Now I had an unlimited number of devices capable of traveling between worlds, dimensions, and multiverses…
