Chapter 14 - The Embodiment of the Savior

"So you're a mage? And where are you from? The North Mountain?!" she started firing off questions after introducing herself.

"You've got enough enthusiasm for everyone, huh?" I smirked, climbed onto the Hoverboard, and held out my hand to the lady. She squealed, grabbed it immediately, and stepped up beside me.

"Oh, we're flying! We're flying!" she looked around… even though we hadn't taken off yet.

"Hold on to me tighter so you don't fall down. I don't feel like patching you up later… and Elsa might freeze the whole kingdom over something like that…"

"Oh, she could, yeah… oh! Speaking of the kingdom! We have to get to her quickly, she froze everything there!" Anna exclaimed. "Woo!" She grabbed onto me tightly as we began to rise, soon lifting above the trees and climbing higher.

"Wow! Everything looks so small! And where did you come from?" she looked up at me. To meet my eyes, she had to tilt her head back, since she was around one hundred sixty centimeters tall, maybe a bit more, but not by much.

"From far, far away… I'm not from around here at all. I use portals to travel." I said without really hiding anything.

"Ooh, portals!.. And what are those?" she tilted her head. Cute…

"Imagine two doors. One is in Arendelle, and the other is, say, here in the forest. You walk into one door and come out of the other. You don't cross the distance, you just appear there. That's how portals work, they connect two points in space."

"Wow, so you could travel and come home every evening! And then keep traveling!" she spread her arms like a bird, and I had to grab her by the waist so she wouldn't fall. "I'd sing right now from all these feelings! I just can't find the right words…"

"That's probably for the best…"

Soon we approached the mountain, and Anna asked:

"So, you know my sister? You called her by name."

"Yeah, I met her in her ice palace when I teleported here. It was awkward, but we talked… she seemed…"

"Lonely and scared! We have to help her!" Anna said.

"Do you even know how to help in situations like this?"

"Of course!" she nodded eagerly. "I'll show her my Love!"

"Pff—" I almost choked, already imagining that kind of "love" between sisters…

"Do you even know what love is?" I asked.

"Of course! I have my fiancé Hans, we met today! And when I told Elsa we were going to get engaged, she didn't accept it…" the girl drooped.

"Umm, you're going to get engaged to a guy you've known for one day? Seriously?" I asked.

"Yes, that's love!" she nodded again… naïve princess. Wait… she actually is a princess…

"There's the castle…" I said as we approached the ice palace. "Well, feel free to use Viktor's magical transportation anytime." I smirked.

"That was amazing, I will!" the naïve princess looked at me and jumped onto the balcony. "Elsa!" She ran inside, where her sister was already standing.

"Anna…"

"Elsa! Oh, you've changed so much…" she noticed the difference in her sister's clothes. "For the better, of course!" the redhead assured her. "And it's so beautiful here!"

"Thank you, I didn't know I was capable of this before." Elsa smiled, then noticed me. "But you should leave, Anna…"

"But I just got here! Well, flew here—oh, that was amazing! Can Elsa try flying too, please?!" she turned toward the balcony where I hovered.

"N-no, Anna… you really should go home. Your place is in Arendelle…"

"Yours too!"

"No, my place is here… alone, where I can be myself and not hurt anyone." the white-haired girl shook her head.

"But you're not alone! Vik!" she said my name. "He's a mage too! So you're definitely not the only one, why stay here?! And besides… um…" she didn't know how to bring up that Arendelle was kind of frozen…

"Alright, well, have a good day. It was nice meeting both of you." I said. "I'll keep traveling… and Elsa, don't be afraid of your powers. They're yours, and only you control them. And Anna… grow up. There's no love in one day!" I pointed at the redhead, who probably wanted to argue, but I fired the portal gun and stepped through the opening portal.

That world wasn't bad. The company of the two sisters was actually… nice. But I didn't want to interfere with them, so I kept traveling. Where would the portal take me next?

"Oh, freaking Hell…"

No, literally Hell. The moment I appeared, an ugly demon from Doom lunged at me. My instincts warned me, so I spun and kicked it… sending it into a nearby rock where it smashed its head.

"Is this Earth? Just taken over by Hell…" I muttered, already pulling out the "Mega Shark" from my inventory, a firearm like a machine gun, but shaped like a small shark with a barrel sticking out of its mouth.

And I started firing.

Bullets poured out like rain, tearing apart the bodies of the approaching demons, or whatever they were. Then my instincts kicked in again, and I moved aside on the Hoverboard just as some teleporting demon appeared where I had been… only to be met by a magical water shot that tore it to pieces.

"This is actually fun…"

I think I've definitely lost it. Though that was obvious before. Now it was just… clearer. Blood and grotesque demons didn't bother me, I actually enjoyed destroying them… especially with my hands, when they sparked with electricity. I think I figured out how Miles generated it… it's easy once you get the hang of it…

There were hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands of them. So I pulled out a suitable sword, the "Bloody Butcher."

"Time to stretch my muscles, hah!"

Limbs of demons flew everywhere, and in the heat of battle I took wounds, but they quickly healed thanks to the regeneration from my items, especially the bracelets. And then… I used my Mech to wipe them all out.

"Son…" I heard that familiar voice again and felt as if a woman was hugging me… but I quickly shook it off.

Hallucinations. Caused by syncing with the Mech, especially the "Zero System." Now the extermination of demons reached a new level. They kept charging without fear, only to die instantly. My Mech had a sword, and I used it.

The bloody feast continued for a while, until I got bored and simply left through a portal.

"Yeah…" I looked at my blood-covered hands. "Can I call myself a killer now?"

A strange question surfaced in my mind. In a way… yes.

Now I was in some uninhabited world, since that's what I wanted when I opened the portal. There were lots of waterfalls and water, so I washed up properly and then went to the Kaiju world, bought some new clothes, and grabbed food at a café.

"…what are people supposed to do? If such a creature appears at their doorstep?! We didn't even know they existed, though some suspected. Back in the 1950s and 60s, this creature had already appeared, and Russian and American governments tried to kill IT with nuclear missiles! As you can see, it didn't work… That wasn't a drill, it was an actual attempt to destroy the creature!"

"It's God's punishment!"

"People will say anything…" I muttered, finishing my burger.

I think I want to settle somewhere… get myself a den, so to speak. Honestly, I could easily do that here, in the modern world. And I will. I need a place here. But also… living in a "fairy tale" isn't bad either. I wonder if Anna managed to convince Elsa to come back? Now Elsa has seen someone else with magic, so maybe that changed something…

After eating, I went into an alley again and opened a portal to the ice palace. When I got there, I immediately noticed changes… the ice looked dull, cracked in places. A massive chandelier had collapsed through the center of the palace, and…

"Blood…" I noticed something you don't usually see in Disney cartoons… though this wasn't a cartoon. Everything looked very real, just more vivid and beautiful. Elsa and Anna had that kind of "idealized" look: slim waists, full hips, not overly large eyes, more realistic than in animation. Still mesmerizingly beautiful…

"All trouble comes from women…" I muttered, trying to figure out what had happened. No bodies, at least…

I fired a portal at the floor, jumped through it, and appeared above the palace, about a kilometer and a half up, immediately falling. I spotted the kingdom of Arendelle and a snowstorm raging there, clearly unnatural.

"Why am I getting involved… ah, because it's the right thing to do." I said, still falling, then pulled out the Hoverboard and flew toward the kingdom.

Elsa's power was no joke… the storm was freezing houses, streets, trees… everyone had taken shelter, and chaos reigned in the palace. About ten people were chasing a girl along the frozen pier, the supposed queen of this place.

Two of them had crossbows, aiming at Elsa's back, but the storm made it hard to aim.

"Elsa, you must surrender! It pains me to say this, but in the name of the late Anna, and as the king of Arendelle, as she declared before her death, I must sentence you… I'm so sorry. The kingdom is dying because of your powers, you are a monster who cannot control yourself!" shouted some tall man with a smug expression.

"N-no! She couldn't…"

"You wounded her in the palace. Your power dealt her a fatal blow… she died in my arms." he continued, but stopped when I dropped from above, electricity arcing around me and forcing him back.

"Hello again, Elsa." I turned to her, my back to the pursuers, who were clearly shocked. "I came back to check if everything was alright. After all, I helped you meet… then I saw blood and decided to check in person."

"I… V-Vik? Anna… can you save her?!" the Snow Queen rushed toward me, desperation in her eyes.

"Save her? First I need to see her… and could you stop this storm? It's just getting in the way." I asked. She nodded and tried, but her unstable emotions made it difficult. Meanwhile, the pursuers were recovering from their shock and getting ready to speak…
