Chapter 10 - David Loses Miserably

It took a moment for Scarlet to realize Lucifer's spontaneous 'subtle' move from earlier. She didn't think he'd actually take the initiative to shield her like that. Maybe he wasn't that much of a bastard…

That thought barely appeared in her head before she immediately pushed it away. Can't let one decent moment make her forget all the bastard things he'd done to her.

Seeing the fierce flames rising from David's palm made her go numb. Why wasn't anyone even human anymore?

A weak loser like David suddenly got this strong in an instant. How was that fair to people who trained for years?

"He's got fire. Can you handle it?"

As soon as she asked that, Scarlet got embarrassed and buried her face in the pillow again. She actually just accidentally worried about her 'enemy'.

"Ha ha… that stuff's good for lighting candles, but burning me? Dream on."

Lucifer laughed at her messy, contradictory thoughts and actions. Having a chaotic thing like this as a slave wasn't so bad.

Of course she actually had to get things done, or he'd punish her. He already knew what she was scared of, so next time he'd just punish her exactly the same way.

Then he looked at David with an extremely arrogant attitude. Normally you'd see him skinny like a dying man, but now that he had power, his presence had become terrifyingly strange.

No matter how strong David's presence was, no matter how hot his flames, in Lucifer's eyes it was all just birthday candle flames that'd go out with one blow.

"Kid, you are just standing there yelling. Where's the skill in that? If you're so tough, come closer and try me."

Lucifer curled his finger like he was calling a dog, making David so furious he felt like his lungs would burst. David, after all, was a rich kid and had never been humiliated like this.

He was about to charge when he saw the pillow on the ground. Being able to throw a soft pillow almost like a cannonball. How could that be a normal person?

David might be a simp, but he was absolutely not stupid. He'd never really been in a fight before, so now he hesitated a little.

His fire could indeed be shot outward, but he was afraid that if he aimed at Lucifer, he'd burn Scarlet too. How could he burn his goddess alive?

He needed to quickly figure out a way to increase the distance between Lucifer and Scarlet. That way he could feel safe using fire to burn off all of Lucifer's hair.

"You act all arrogant but really it's just to cover up your own weakness, isn't it? You're a cowardly turtle hiding in its shell, only using my goddess as a shield. I've seen plenty of low, weak people like you who always act like they're better than everyone else.

You're not even worthy to lick her feet, let alone make her a slave. I think you're the one who should be her slave…"

The more David cursed, the more heated he got. For some reason, cursing at this strange man felt incredibly satisfying.

So he used every bit of his literary knowledge from all these years to hurl one insult after another. He cursed so much that both Lucifer and Scarlet were stunned.

As for Scarlet, David had lifted her up to step on Lucifer. This feeling was really strange because it was completely opposite to the truth. It sounded pretty fun, but being this opposite to reality, she couldn't believe it.

"Huh? What did you just say, you brat? I'm old so my hearing's a bit bad."

All of that was obviously a lie. His hand, out of irritation, was pinching Scarlet's ass hard, making her wince and grit her teeth in pain.

"Ouch, ouch! Sob, sob, you're bullying me again…"

After everything, Scarlet had figured out how to deal with Lucifer. If you can't beat him, just cry really miserably. Not that it did anything to Lucifer, but at least mentally it helped her relieve some stress.

"You little runt dare make my slave cry? I'm definitely going to teach you a lesson."

Lucifer pointed his finger straight at David's face with utter arrogance, leaving David's face blank because he had no idea what the hell was going on.

"You're slandering me…"

Before he could finish the sentence, Lucifer had somehow appeared right in front of David, scaring him half to death. This was the first time in his life he felt like he was seeing a devil in broad daylight.

A high-tech suit of armor in just one color: black. Hair black, eyes red as blood. All these gloomy colors combined made Lucifer look no different from a devil. Even though he really was a devil, and more than that, a demon king.

While David was stunned, Lucifer blew a strong breath, sending the flames in David's palm flying up onto his jacket.

The material of his jacket was the flammable kind, so you didn't need to be a genius to know the fire would spread extremely fast.

"Hot, hot, too hot!"

David fell to the ground and rolled back and forth, but the flames stuck to his jacket didn't go away. The main reason was that he still couldn't use his own ability proficiently.

Luckily he was quick-witted, so he immediately took off his jacket and threw it on the ground. The feeling of his body no longer being surrounded by fire made him sigh in relief, but he also got a little scared of using fire now.

He stared at Lucifer warily, then froze when he saw Lucifer rubbing his chin and looking blank like he was thinking about something.

Seizing the chance, he lunged forward and threw a punch right at Lucifer's face. His expression at that moment had regained the confidence he had before he set himself on fire.

"How… how is that possible?"

The confidence at the start was exactly how deep the despair ended up being. He clearly punched Lucifer in the face, but David felt like he'd punched a mountain barehanded.

Lucifer suddenly grinned, showing his pure white teeth and a few sharp fangs. His eyes were full of arrogance but with a hint of chaos that made David hallucinate that Lucifer's pupils weren't just a simple red area but a blood-red storm.
