The two guards turned around. They pushed the sides of the giant wooden gate simultaneously and let Aldes step inside.
The room behind the gate instantly made Aldes stop in his tracks. The place did not look like a building from ancient times at all.
The interior of the library was vastly spacious, minimalist, and elegant. The marble floor and all its walls were dominated by a pristine white color. Giant bookshelves merged with the curved walls, towering high to the ceiling. This room was divided into three levels. There were no stone or wooden stairs. Aldes saw glowing blue circular portals on the edges of the second and third-floor balconies as the only way up. At the end of the ground floor room, there was a large, solid white door that was tightly shut.
Like science fiction. Too modern. What is that door over there? The thing that amazes me is how vast this place is. Very strange. Not what I imagined, Aldes muttered in his heart.
The air in front of Aldes suddenly vibrated.
A woman suddenly appeared out of nowhere right in front of him. The woman had long, straight, deep purple hair. Her pair of purple eyes stared at Aldes calmly. She wore a very neat, high-collared minimalist white uniform. Her facial skin was smooth, white, and flawless.
The woman formed a smile. She bowed politely in front of Aldes.
"Welcome, Master Aldes."
She straightened her body again.
"My assessment was not wrong indeed." Her eyes stared straight ahead. "I am glad you are starting to take knowledge seriously, Master Aldes."
Aldes maintained his calm posture.
Your assessment was not wrong? What does she mean? Aldes muttered in his heart.
"I just want to study the basics of geopolitics in this world and a few classes," Aldes replied flatly. He paused for a second. "And perhaps history."
"Classes, huh..." the woman responded.
The purple-haired woman stepped forward, closing the distance. She grabbed Aldes's right hand and rubbed the back of it slowly. The temperature of the woman's skin felt extremely cold touching Aldes's skin.
What is she doin...
A bright white light exploded, blinding the eyes.
The sight of the giant library vanished instantly. Aldes found himself already standing inside a completely white, enclosed room. In the middle of that room, there was only one table and two very simple white chairs. On the table, there was a plate of sliced fruits, snacks, and a cup of hot black coffee with steam billowing from it.
The woman raised her right hand, then snapped her fingers.
Click.
Two books instantly materialized on the table. The first book was a thick hardcover containing information on basic classes and magic. The second book was a thin, black-covered book containing geopolitical information.
Aldes stared at the two books. He narrowed his eyes and looked at the face of the woman in front of him with a suspicious expression. His memory regarding this witch's name suddenly appeared in his head.
"What is the meaning of this," Aldes said in a heavy tone. "Leafa."
Leafa smiled faintly. She raised her hand, slowly held Aldes's earlobe, and rubbed it gently.
"Prince, these are the things you asked for," Leafa said softly. "Geopolitics and also classes."
Leafa's hand moved down, away from Aldes's ear.
"And this is the only information you can access right now."
Leafa fell silent for a moment. Her gaze turned flat and serious.
"And unfortunately for history, as you know. You still do not have access," Leafa said.
Aldes remained silent without showing any reaction on his face. However, his brain worked very fast to process the current situation.
Oh? It seems that even someone with my status as a prince has limited access to information. They even moved me to a special room. They didn't give me the chance to walk by myself and choose the books I want to read on the shelves over there at all.
Aldes's gaze shifted from the thin book on the table to Leafa's purple eyes.
What is actually going on. I am getting more suspicious that there is something crazy in this world, Aldes muttered in his heart.
