Chapter 9 - chapter 9

The woman moved one hand toward the white chair. "Please, Master." Her eyes stared flatly without emotion.

Aldes turned cynically. He pulled the chair and sat down. His eyes glanced at a cup of steaming black coffee on the table. He grabbed the cup's handle and sipped it slowly. The hot temperature touched his tongue along with a thick bitter taste. Aldes did not immediately touch the books in front of him. He kept enjoying his drink in silence for almost thirty minutes.

Leafa stood frozen in her place. Her eyes kept watching Aldes's every movement without blinking.

Just as I expected. I am even watched directly when I am about to read, Aldes muttered in his heart.

Aldes let out a long breath. He raised his hand and pointed at the empty chair right in front of him.

Leafa narrowed her eyes for a moment. Her facial expression changed to wonder. She clearly did not expect this lazy prince to suddenly care and tell her to sit. However, the woman still stepped forward and sat on the chair.

Aldes formed a faint smile toward Leafa. "Do you hold other people's ears too when someone comes here?"

Aldes leaned his body forward. He raised his right hand, touched Leafa's earlobe, and rubbed it slowly. The temperature of the woman's skin felt very cold at his fingertips.

"Like this. Or is it just me?" Aldes asked.

Leafa raised both of her eyebrows. Surprise was clearly visible in her pair of purple eyes. She stared at Aldes in disbelief. Leafa slowly raised her hand. She tightly gripped Aldes's hand that was still pressed against the side of her head.

"What is wrong with you, Prince." The woman returned Aldes's gaze. "Only you."

"Why," Aldes asked flatly.

I have to test her limits, Aldes muttered in his heart.

"Will it become uninteresting if I answer it now?" Leafa lowered her voice tone. "Would it be better for you to read those books now instead of asking this, Prince?"

"I cannot focus on studying when there is a beautiful girl constantly watching me in this narrow room," Aldes answered. His eyes did not leave Leafa's face.

Leafa's pupils expanded. Her emotional defense wavered slightly. She could not hide the small smile forming on her lips.

"My goodness. Prince," Leafa muttered softly. "What kind of side is this."

The woman's smile became clearer. "Then should I teach you directly?"

Why. Why did she not remove my hand from the start. I guess the original Aldes must have done something to this woman. But what. I do not remember it at all, Aldes cursed in his head.

It will be shorter if she explains it. Plus, I am truly uncomfortable being watched constantly while reading alone.

Aldes's hand moved down from the ear and rubbed the side of the woman's face very gently. "Please."

Leafa slowly released her grip from Aldes's hand. "Where do you want to start, Prince?"

"Classes," Aldes answered. He pulled his body back to lean against the chair. "Their weaknesses and main characteristics."

Leafa began to explain. A person could not choose their own combat class. Humans were born with classes obtained randomly. Every class had specific rituals to breakthrough level limits like thirty, fifty, and sixty. Leafa did not mention the maximum number for a person's level. The thick hardcover book also did not contain that information.

Leafa continued her explanation about the Hunter class. This class was an exception. They could choose power branches. When a Hunter reached level ten, they were required to consume a special pill to determine their main element. They could choose to be a controller of fire, void, light, or ice.

The explanation moved on to the Assassin class. They were killers skilled at moving in the shadows and concocting poisons. Leafa called the assassin's power very mysterious. Only a handful of people knew the details of their movements. Even in the book, there was no detailed explanation regarding the Assassin class's level up ritual.

Besides that mysterious class, there were frontal fighter classes like Berserker and Telekinesis.

"I want to hear about Witch," Aldes cut in quickly.

Leafa tilted her face slightly. "Oh, my dear. A Witch can do anything as long as they know the spell."

The woman raised her right hand. She snapped her fingers into the air.

Click.

The sight of the white room vanished in the blink of an eye. Aldes found himself sitting in the middle of a lush wilderness. The smell of wet soil and dry leaves stung his nose. The sound of blowing wind swept across the branches of giant trees.

Click.

Everything changed again. The two of them were now on a wooden boat floating in the middle of a vast lake. The cold air of the lake water instantly pierced through Aldes's clothes. The water surface rippled slowly, reflecting the sky's light.

Click.

The two of them were back sitting face to face inside the completely white room. Thin steam still billowed from the coffee cup on the table.

Aldes's jaw clenched hard. His heart pumped blood faster. Crazy. They can change reality that easily. How do I defeat them. This is a big problem. I will definitely have a hard time when facing a Witch class on a real battlefield, Aldes muttered full of vigilance.

Aldes swallowed his saliva. "Are there limitations?"

"Level," Leafa answered in a casual tone. "We cannot perform high level magic recklessly or we will die from running out of energy."

That is a weakness I can definitely use, Aldes thought. He nodded in understanding slowly. "What about other races?"

Leafa took Aldes's coffee cup on the table. She pressed her lips to the edge of the cup, then drank the coffee slightly.

"Other races are quite mysterious," Leafa said while lowering the cup. "The human kingdom only has very little data. The dragon kingdom fights with the pure power of their clan. The vampire race relies on physical strength beyond logic. Meanwhile, the demon race is born with a very abundant supply of magic energy."

Leafa sighed. Her eyes stared flatly at the coffee surface. "The powers of those races vary greatly. Unlike us whose power is guided and limited by the class system. They are truly different beings."

"They do not have classes," Aldes muttered, concluding. He stared sharply into Leafa's eyes. "Meaning only the human race has a power system like Witch or other classes. There are no other races out there whose power is similar to ours. You know what I mean."

"Exactly." Leafa raised one hand. She softly poked Aldes's cheek with her cold index finger. "You are right."
