Chapter 8 - Level 5 Mutant!

[Six Eyes Lv.2 (1/300): Grants 360-degree long-range vision, the ability to see the flow of energy, and astonishing dynamic visual acuity. Allows the host to perform atomic-level precision energy manipulation.]

Upon leveling up, the Six Eyes' 360-degree sensory range fundamentally doubled, expanding from a 200-meter radius to a staggering 500 meters.

This wasn't just a vague radar; it was a field of absolute clarity. Within this domain, Su Mu could vividly perceive microscopic details, intricately trace the flow of all energy signatures, and process hyper-kinetic movements in real-time.

If he merely focused on vague outlines, his vision stretched much further, though it would function identically to ordinary human eyesight—capable of seeing distant objects, but lacking atomic clarity.

Beyond the range expansion, reaching Level 2 awakened a completely new passive ability: X-Ray Vision!

His Six Eyes could now effortlessly pierce through solid objects, including up to 10 centimeters of solid steel plating. Unlike the black-and-white thermal or chakra vision common in other fictions, his perception remained in flawless, hyper-detailed full color.

"Well, this is definitely useful..."

Acquiring one of humanity's most universally desired superpowers so casually left Su Mu feeling momentarily underwhelmed.

"Hmm?"

Suddenly, within his expanded spherical perception, Su Mu caught the distinct energy signatures of several tactical drones screaming toward his location at high velocity.

Farther out, at the very edge of his 500-meter radius, a heavily armed tactical unit was advancing rapidly, trailing closely behind the drones.

This absolutely wasn't retaliation from Kingpin. Street-level syndicates didn't possess military-grade stealth drones and mechanized infantry.

This was government hardware. Specifically, a black-ops unit dedicated to hunting mutants!

In the blink of an eye, the drones descended upon his position. Su Mu casually tilted his head toward the lead drone's camera lens, flashing a freezing, arrogant smile.

A localized azure black hole materialized from his fingertips, instantly swallowing the entire drone swarm into the void.

Without hesitating, Su Mu converted his stored electricity into cursed energy, reinforcing his physical vessel, and vanished into the shadows of Hell's Kitchen.

According to the original host's fragmented memories, these military strike teams heavily utilized enslaved, brainwashed mutants as attack dogs. Their combat capabilities were not to be underestimated.

Even with the absolute defense of the Limitless, facing bizarre, unpredictable mutant abilities this early on was entirely too risky.

He was currently in his fastest phase of growth. There was absolutely no logical reason to wage a bloody war of attrition against the U.S. military.

His priority was relentlessly draining energy and pushing his Template Synchronization. Once he awakened the Reverse Cursed Technique, his survival would be absolutely guaranteed!

(Note: The Reverse Cursed Technique grants transcendental, cellular-level healing and regeneration.)

Deep within a highly classified, subterranean military installation, a wall of tactical monitors cast a pale blue glow across the command center.

Suddenly, several screens flickered and died simultaneously, dissolving into harsh static. An entire drone swarm had been completely wiped out in less than a second!

Observing this, a stern, middle-aged man wearing a colonel's insignia narrowed his cold, ruthless eyes.

"Report. What just happened?"

A tactical operator immediately stood at attention.

"Colonel Stryker! We experienced a catastrophic anomaly during the capture op for Subject 9527. The target appears to have undergone a secondary mutation. He has manifested entirely new, highly destructive abilities!"

A sharp gleam flashed through William Stryker's eyes. He marched up to the dead monitors.

"Pull up the final visual data prior to drone destruction."

The operator rapidly typed on his console, projecting the final seconds of the lead drone's feed onto the main tactical screen.

The drone's camera navigated the alleyways of Hell's Kitchen. Soon, the figure of a tall, slender man with striking white hair came into focus.

As the drone hovered and locked onto the target, the white-haired man slowly turned his head, his crystalline blue eyes staring dead into the camera lens. He offered a chilling, almost predatory smile. In the next frame, a basketball-sized azure singularity materialized in his palm and shot directly into the lens. The screen violently cut to black.

The operator pulled up the feeds from the other drones. The outcome was identical. The unknown azure singularity possessed terrifying velocity, effortlessly obliterating the entire swarm in the blink of an eye.

Colonel Stryker's gaze grew intense. He faintly remembered the file for Subject 9527. The boy's initial mutation was Energy Absorption—an ability identical to a terrifying mutant he had encountered decades ago.

Sebastian Shaw. A monster capable of absorbing a literal nuclear detonation!

However, Subject 9527's kinetic absorption limit had been laughably pathetic. The boy couldn't even fully absorb the impact of a simple street brawl. Because of this, Stryker had initially dismissed him as a low-tier failure, unworthy of his full attention.

To think the boy would reappear now, having awakened entirely different, catastrophic powers.

Stryker replayed the footage several times, pausing specifically on the frame right before the azure singularity consumed the camera.

This localized black hole possessed terrifying offensive output, effortlessly tearing apart military-grade titanium alloy.

Furthermore, 9527 clearly possessed some form of hyper-sensory perception. He had been waiting perfectly still for the drones to arrive, fully aware of their approach long before they entered visual range.

And then there was the physical mutation—the stark white hair and the mesmerizing, crystalline blue eyes.

The footage rewound one last time, freezing on Su Mu's freezing, arrogant smile.

A cruel, excited grin spread across Colonel Stryker's face.

"Deploy all available assets. Capture Subject 9527 at all costs. His genetic material possesses immense research value!" Stryker barked, his voice echoing through the command center. "Deploy Weapon XI subjects 1085 and 1086 to spearhead the assault. 1086's spatial distortion attacks should be able to bypass 9527's defenses!"

As the operators scrambled to execute his orders, Stryker muttered to himself, his eyes glued to the frozen image of the white-haired demon.

"A provocation? Fine. Let's see how arrogant you are when I strip the flesh from your bones."

Meanwhile, at 1407 Graymalkin Lane, deep within the hidden subterranean laboratories of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.

Jean Grey hastily handed a classified intelligence report to Professor Charles Xavier.

"Professor. Cerebro picked up massive, sudden troop movements from Colonel Stryker's black-ops division. They are mobilizing a significant portion of their strike force into Hell's Kitchen to capture a mutant designated as Subject 9527."

"9527?"

Much like Stryker, Professor X vividly remembered the young mutant filed under that designation. The boy's innate ability heavily mirrored his most terrifying adversary: the Black King, Sebastian Shaw.

Even now, Charles knew that if it hadn't been for a sheer stroke of luck and Erik's absolute ruthlessness, they never would have managed to kill Shaw!

However, the file on Subject 9527—a young Chinese-American man named Su Mu—indicated his power ceiling was abysmally low. Even among Level 1 mutants, his kinetic absorption was considered practically useless.

Because of this, Charles hadn't prioritized inviting the boy to the Xavier Institute.

To see his name suddenly jump to the absolute top of Stryker's kill list was deeply alarming. Charles knew Stryker intimately; the Colonel was a ruthless pragmatist. He absolutely wouldn't waste millions of dollars in military assets to capture a useless Level 1 mutant.

Something catastrophic must have awakened within Su Mu.

Without hesitation, Professor X donned Cerebro, amplifying his telepathic reach across the globe to pinpoint Su Mu's exact coordinates. He intended to physically project his astral form to the boy and offer him the protection of the X-Men before Stryker's death squads arrived.

However...

Charles' eyes snapped open in absolute shock.

"Why... why is there no trace of his consciousness? I could sense him perfectly clear just a few days ago..."

With Cerebro, Charles could pinpoint the consciousness of anyone on the planet. He could even clearly perceive the impossibly vast, terrifying psychic ocean within Jean Grey.

Could it be...?

A chilling realization washed over Professor X. Whatever secondary mutation had awakened within Su Mu, it possessed the absolute, conceptual authority to completely isolate and sever his consciousness from telepathic intrusion.

Did Su Mu possess the latent potential of an Omega-Level mutant?

No... Charles thought, his breath catching slightly. It's entirely possible that right at this very moment... he has already ascended to Level 5!

Removing Cerebro, Professor X turned to Jean with profound urgency.

"Jean. Mobilize the team immediately. We must find Su Mu and bring him to the Institute before either Stryker or Erik gets to him.

"Su Mu... is highly likely a Level 5 mutant!"
