Chapter 9 - The Deal

Silence filled the room.

Not empty.

But heavy.

Amara didn't look away.

Neither did Franko.

Two people.

Both calculating.

Both waiting.

The First Move

"You said we're about to make a mistake," Amara said.

Her voice was calm.

Controlled.

"But you haven't said what it is."

Franko nodded slightly.

"I will," he replied.

"But first…"

He stepped closer.

"You need to understand something."

Amara's eyes narrowed.

"And what is that?" she asked.

Franko met her gaze directly.

"I'm not here to guess."

A pause.

Then:

"I'm here because I already know."

Doubt and Interest

Amara studied him carefully.

People had walked into this office before.

Confident.

Desperate.

Arrogant.

But this…

Was different.

There was no hesitation in him.

No sign of uncertainty.

Only control.

The Truth Revealed

"Fine," she said.

"Talk."

Franko didn't waste time.

"In three days," he said,

"You'll finalize a partnership."

Amara's expression shifted slightly.

Barely noticeable.

But real.

"Continue," she said.

"It looks profitable," Franko added.

"Clean. Stable. Safe."

He paused.

Then:

"It's not."

The Crack

Amara crossed her arms slowly.

"And your reason?" she asked.

Franko's eyes sharpened.

"The company you're partnering with…"

He leaned slightly forward.

"…is about to collapse."

Silence.

Cold.

Sharp.

"That's a serious claim," Amara said.

"It is," Franko replied.

"And it's true."

Testing Him

Amara walked past him slowly.

Thinking.

Analyzing.

"If you're wrong," she said,

"You understand what that means?"

Franko didn't turn.

"Yes."

"And yet you're standing here," she added.

"Because I don't make mistakes like that," he replied.

A Decision Point

She stopped.

Then turned back to him.

"Names," she said.

Franko answered immediately.

No pause.

No hesitation.

Everything matched.

Everything aligned.

And that…

Was the problem.

The Shift

Amara went quiet.

Not because she believed him fully.

But because…

He made sense.

Too much sense.

"You're either very dangerous…" she said slowly,"…or very useful."

Franko finally turned.

His expression calm.

"Both," he said.

The Deal

Silence again.

Then,"What do you want?" she asked.

Straight to the point.

Franko didn't smile.

Didn't hesitate.

"A position," he said.

Amara raised an eyebrow.

"In my company?"

"Yes."

"That's bold," she said.

"It's necessary," he replied.

Terms Set

Amara walked back to her desk.

Thinking.

Then:

"If what you said is true…"

She looked at him.

I'll give you that position."

A pause.

"But if it's not—"

"I know," Franko said.

No fear.

No doubt.

Agreement

They stood there for a moment.

Then Amara extended her hand.

Franko looked at it.

Then shook it.

Firm.

Certain.

A New Step

The deal was made.

Not on trust.

Not on emotion.

But on results.

Still Rising

As Franko turned to leave—

Amara spoke again.

"Franko."

He stopped.

But didn't turn.

"If you're right…"

Her voice lowered slightly.

"…everything changes."

Franko's lips curved slightly.

"I know."

Then he walked out.

Calm.

Controlled.

Dangerous.
