Monday morning, I walked into school like I was floating. "Happy belated birthday, Mel!" they kept saying. "Thank you," I replied. "Oh, well, you look gorgeous as always," Luca commented, and I laughed. "Shut up," I said, laughing.
At break, Megan and the rest of my friends couldn't stop bothering me about Saturday. "Tell us, really, how did your day go with Luca?" I shrugged, trying to play it cool. "It was okay, I guess." Ashley raised an eyebrow. "Okay? You looked all lit up, girl!" Lara leaned in. "Really, girl, what's up with you and Luca?" My cheeks betrayed me. "What? Nothing." Lara squealed. "Omg, there is something! Tell us!" I sighed, pretending to give in. "We... hung out. That's all." Megan's eyes sparkled. "Hung out? With hands held?" I glared, laughing. "Maybe."
The buzz didn't die down. By lunchtime, everyone was talking about the party – the games, the duet, and, of course, Luca and me. Emory slid into our table, smirking. "Hey, birthday queen. Enjoying the attention?" I raised an eyebrow. "You mean the interrogation?" He chuckled. "Nah, I mean the hype. You deserve it."
Luca appeared at my back, arm over my chair. "Yeah, it was deserved." The bell cut us off, and as we headed to class, Emory dropped something on my desk. A note. "Want to grab coffee this week? – E" My heart did a weird flip. Why was Emory asking me out? Luca caught my expression. "What?" I crumbled the note. "Nothing."
The week flew by in a blur of smiles and whispers. But amidst it all, one thing was clear – my birthday had changed something. And I wasn't sure what.
Heyyyy, Lanieeee! Kelly shouted from afar. "Did you hear about...?" Before she completed her sentence, Megan popped up behind her, covering her mouth. "Are you crazy?" she asked. I ran up to them and asked in curiosity, "About what, guys?" "Oh, nothing, really," Megan replied. "Just that the ship capsizes, and I don't think anyone's going to make it." I laughed. "Why are you talking in quotes? Go straight to the point!" "Fine," she groaned. "It's Layla and Emory – they had a fight, and I think it's about you, me?" "Oh, never! I don't even talk to him anymore, so it's not possible."
I got home, and our garage was open, and my brother and his band members were just doing their thing – they'd got most stuff they'd sold out last year, like the guitar and set of drums. It immediately brought back the spark in me about music.
After the practice, they all came in and had dinner with us, but tonight was special. A few weeks before my birthday, when I was on holiday, my dad went on a business trip and couldn't even make it for my birthday, but he came home today and had a whole bag full of gifts for me, and a new pink guitar was one of them. I was happy with the gifts and thanked him so much. "You know, I was mad you couldn't make it to my birthday, but I'm sure you'll compensate me, Dad," "You know I always," he said.
After dinner, I went to bed, but I wasn't really sleepy, so I got online and chatted with my friends and also had a friendly phone call with Luca before dozing off.
I had a dream I was in a flying car filled with pink smoke , I took it as an indication that I had a pink birthday party and it flyed basically the talk of the week .
Yup and not some car racing dreams
Because cars don't fly and even if they do certainly not the one in my dream .
It was a wild dream
