Chapter 19
My eyes fixed on the thick brown envelope resting on the table, my mind racing a million miles per hour.
The dull brown colour of the envelope suddenly made me feel light headed, I raised the cold glass to my lips, gulping the water down as I slammed the glass back down on the table.
I locked eyes with him as he leaned back in his seat, his broad shoulders back, with one of his veiny hands firmly placed on the envelope.
My eyes drifted back to the envelope.
Still there.
Still waiting.
Unopened.
"Do you know what you are about to get into?" He asked as he pulled out the documents, his fingers holding onto them tightly.
"I was the one that texted you remember" I replied
"I have an idea of what I'm getting into" I
my voice unwavering and firm, my heart doing the complete opposite, pounding so hard against my chest, I thought it might explode.
"I know what I'm getting into" I said.
He shrugged as he slid the paper to me, a black pen safely tucked beside it.
