As if pulling away and just sitting up wasn't enough distance for Shawn, he stood up from the bed and even turned on the light.
I could see his arousal through his pants, and I could also see the resolve on his face that he wasn't going to act on it.
I could see the regret too. For letting me stay. Maybe even for following me. He regretted me being there, and that realization sent a wave of panic through me, because I didn't know if I could handle him withdrawing from me again after getting a little closer- emotionally.
"So you're going to ask me to leave or what?" The question slipped out before I even meant to ask it, and I found myself already moving to get out of bed, but he held me back.
"I'm not asking you to leave. It's already late. You can stay in bed, I'll step out for a minute," he said, leaving me completely speechless.
