"Well, I…" I started, forcing the words out. "I don't think I'm experienced enough to be teaching a candidate class. I was wondering if I could be assigned a lower grade instead."
The principal stared at me like she couldn't believe what she was hearing, and it only made the tension in my chest worse.
For a second, I wondered if this had something to do with Jean, but if it did, his mother would have confronted me earlier. So what was this about?
"What do you mean, Mr. Geller? I was actually planning to give you more classes in that grade, including Mathematics and Biology. You are exactly what those students need right now."
She didn't even pause to let me respond.
