Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: New Roots

Kojima Ren stood at the edge of the island, watching the morning light spill across the fresh patches of land that had appeared overnight. The Eternal Growth Seed had done its job quietly but powerfully. What used to be a small rooftop fragment now stretched out like a proper piece of the sky, with new soil, budding flowers, and even a few small trees already reaching upward. The air smelled cleaner, sweeter, like something alive was finally taking root here.

He felt a quiet pride settle in his chest. This wasn't just survival anymore. It was starting to feel like a real home.

Sylphira stood right beside him, her long red hair catching the breeze and glowing like embers in the sunlight. She leaned gently against his side, her arm slipping around his waist as if it belonged there. Her voice was soft, meant only for him.

Sylphira: Master… look how much it's grown already. I'm really proud of you. Every new piece of land feels like another promise that we're building something lasting.

She was always like this with him — warm, supportive, and full of quiet affection. Even when the others were around, her gentleness never wavered when she looked at him. She had made it clear more than once that she supported his growing harem, as long as she could stay close like this.

Mira appeared on his other side, stretching lazily with a playful smile. Her violet eyes sparkled as she brushed her fingers along his arm.

Mira: Mmm, the island is getting bigger, Master. Just like your little empire. I love seeing you grow stronger every day. If you ever need a private way to celebrate all this new land… I have plenty of ideas.

Vaelor approached from behind with his usual graceful steps, carrying a tray of fresh tea and sky-berries. His crimson eyes held that familiar mischievous glint, but his voice stayed perfectly elegant.

Vaelor: Master, I have prepared morning refreshments with a touch of shadow essence for flavor. Subtle, smoky, and perfectly dramatic, if I do say so myself. If the taste displeases you, I shall throw myself off the island in the most theatrical manner possible while reciting a tragic poem about failed tea.

Kojima couldn't help but laugh. The sound came easily now, lighter than it had in years.

Kojima: You don't have to throw yourself anywhere, Vaelor. The tea smells perfect.

Vaelor bowed with exaggerated solemnity.

Vaelor: As you wish, Master. Though I must admit, the idea of a dramatic exit does have a certain theatrical appeal.

The four of them sat together near the Eternal Spring Fountain, sharing the simple breakfast Vaelor had prepared. The conversation flowed naturally — laughter from Vaelor's dry jokes, gentle words from Sylphira, and playful teasing from Mira. Even when Mira leaned a little too close or whispered something teasing in Kojima's ear, Sylphira simply smiled softly and squeezed his hand under the table, reminding him without words that she was happy as long as he was.

Elara's voice spoke warmly inside his soul.

Elara: This is good, Kojima. The island is growing, but so are the bonds between you all. Vaelor's humor keeps things light, Mira's energy brings excitement, and Sylphira's quiet support keeps you grounded. You're not just building land anymore. You're building a family.

After breakfast, they spent the morning working side by side. Vaelor used his shadows to move heavy materials with dramatic flair, making even simple tasks feel like a performance. Mira helped in the gardens, but she kept stealing glances at Kojima, occasionally brushing against him or whispering something that made his face warm. Sylphira stayed right by his side, her red hair glowing as she used her flames to shape small irrigation channels with careful precision. Every so often she would reach for his hand, her touch gentle and reassuring.

By midday, the island had grown even more. New patches of fertile soil appeared, and a few small fragments drifted closer, merging smoothly thanks to the seed's effect. The territory now felt solid, alive, and full of possibility.

During a short break by the fountain, Vaelor served cool drinks and made another witty remark.

Vaelor: Master, at this rate the island will soon be large enough to host a grand ball. I can provide the shadows for lighting, Mira can provide the entertainment, and Lady Sylphira can provide the elegant flames. I shall, of course, be the dramatic master of ceremonies.

Mira laughed and leaned against Kojima's shoulder.

Mira: As long as I get to dance with Master first… preferably in private afterward.

Sylphira sighed softly, but her hand found Kojima's under the table, squeezing it gently.

Sylphira: You two are noisy… but Master seems to enjoy it. That's what matters. And if it makes him happy… I'm glad we can all be here for him.

Kojima looked at the three of them — Sylphira's quiet devotion and open support for his harem, Mira's bold teasing, and Vaelor's humorous loyalty — and felt a deep sense of belonging. The nerf from the Gods had slowed his rolls, but it had given him time to build something real with the people around him.
