Chapter 24 - Hop in, we're going shopping

After the exam results were released, many thought they'd have a good, relaxing weekend. Toru had other plans.

"Since we're going to be in the wilderness for a whole week, we might as well go buy what we need as a class. Think of it as a celebration for passing!" She'd said in the class group chat that Friday.

"What if we didn't pass?" Mina and Kaminari asked as one. A few others agreed, but Toru didn't even hesitate.

"Then go shopping to cheer up! Treat yourself, it's time for summer break!" She said as Bakugo spoke for the first time.

"Buckle up bitches. We're going shopping."

--------------------

That Sunday, Toru was over the moon to see that everyone had made it for her little excursion.

I, for one, was happy to be out in the sun. I'd gone with a simple t-shirt and shorts today, letting my skin absorb all that great sunshine. It was also a good, if momentary, distraction from what else I had going on today.

After I'd dragged Sasha and Midnight out of the exam area, I'd passed out since her mist had still gotten inside my lungs. I'd woken up in the nurse's office with Sasha sitting next to me. "We gotta stop meeting like this." I'd quipped, and she'd sighed.

"Thanks for the assist." She said before pecking me on the cheek. She'd already done so a million times, but for some reason, I couldn't stop thinking about it for the rest of the day, or the next.

When I'd seen Toru's plan for everyone to go shopping together, I texted Sasha to see if she was going as well before confirming with Toru. That was where I got the bright idea: if Sasha's always teasing me and telling everyone that it's only a matter of time until I'm hers, why not flip it?

So, very naturally and totally not anxious for several hours beforehand, I asked Sasha out on a date. I then waited for a few minutes until she confirmed, then went to bed to be ready for the next day.

(Greetings, Shoto here.)

(He actually paced around the house twice, then had me and my sister hype him up for nearly an hour before asking her out. He then paced around the garden for an hour until she answered. He was so nervous that Fuyumi had to tell him what Sasha said.)

(She obviously agreed because those two are crazy for each other, and mentally degraded to a point. But he was so excited that he ran around the house, cheering for a full ten minutes before eating two full-course meals and passing out on the couch.)

(Do not believe his lies.)

Knowing how Sasha liked to dress up, I felt terribly underdressed. This only compounded when I saw Sasha's outfit. "Hey, nice shorts." She said, walking over. She was wearing a simple outfit like mine, but it seemed to come to life on her.

(He used Six Eyes on reflex)

She had on a light blue blouse with a simple pink skirt with flowers. "You ready?" I snapped out of it as she took my hand and led me into the mall. "Yeah, I'm ready. What's first on the list?"

We drifted from store to store. I was a bit worried at first since she gravitated towards more expensive stores, but she told me how she makes a stupid amount of money from coding and creating programs. That plus a bunch of techno babble I'm listing under Netrunner bs.

She didn't just shop for herself either. She was constantly picking things out for me that just seemed to click. I tried doing the same with her, but she didn't let me. The most I got to do was hold her hand and give her feedback on whatever outfit she brought out.

Even then, she mostly just walked out of the changing room, took one look at me, smirked, then walked back in. "I can tell what you think by just looking at you." She explained after seeing my confused look.

By the time we got feeling hungry, I was already using my flames to make a second set of arms to help carry all the bags. She tried to help, but I didn't let her touch them. If I were going to sit here and let her spend money on me, the least I could do was carry everything and pay for lunch.

"Thanks for putting up with this. I'm sure you had other plans than shopping." She said as we threw out the trash. I waved her off, "It's fine. I've enjoyed just walking around with you. I've had fun."

"I know, I could tell by the look on your face, and the fact you can't take your eyes off of me." She grinned.

"Can you blame me? You look stunning!" I said with a straight face as she lost her grin, before smiling again. "And here I thought I was the fluffy one. Where to next?" She gave me the choice to choose our next store, and I already knew where I was going.

Our first stop was the bookstore. I'd been looking around for a while to see if I could find any old book series from my first life. Not many were still around two centuries and one quirk awakening later.

Most of the books and comics here revolved around heroes. It was super cheesy and straight-up bland at times. What I'd loved about bookstores in my past life was the variety, even if one section was just for Sci-fi, you'd at least see different takes on the genre, instead of all this regurgitated stuff.

So, leaving there a bit disappointed, I went into the Lego store with higher expectations, and was rewarded. Despite dozens, if not hundreds, of countries, book series, and TV shows not making it over, a certain mouse company survived.

They also still held a tight grip on a galaxy far away; the vast collection of LEGO sets attested to this. I didn't complain. I checked how much money I had, thought about how much I wanted to spend in the next store, then bought a small battlegroup's worth of ships.

"I can understand the big one," Sasha said as I shoved everything into a cart. "But why all the littler one? Plus, you got all the little people as well, and that one like four times." She pointed to the various mini's and the group of Acclamator sets.

"I'm going to make a fleet! This one is the flagship, and these are the troop carriers. A few of these will be escort ships later on." I then explained the various specs of the Venator and Acclamator as she looked kinda lost.

I then charged headfirst into the last shop, straight into the 41st Millennium.

I instantly locked onto a Custodes Combat patrol box. I then grabbed a Blood Angels Combat Patrol, then a Grey Knight one, before gunning for the paints. After getting everything I want, I headed for the checkout and spotted a Warlord Titan.

Let's say Sasha's glare wasn't needed; the price tag was scary enough.

After wasting a good chunk of money, we left and made our way over to everyone else. As we got on the escalator, I spotted Izuku sitting next to someone in a hoodie. Without another thought, I whipped out my phone and sent a text to Aizawa.

"What is it? What's wrong?" Sasha noticed my look as she turned her head and saw Izuku and Shigaraki. "Don't move!" I hissed and spoke as quietly as I could. "Don't let him know we see him. I've already alerted Aizawa; he should be getting Nezu involved, police and heroes should be here any minute."

She clearly didn't like it, but stayed next to me as we walked in a very wide circle around Izuku and Shigaraki. Ochaco walked over to Izuku at some point, and we both nearly jumped forward. Only for her to back away after Izuku said something to her, and Shigaraki wrapped his arm around his neck.

"Hey, Ochaco!" Sasha called out in her everything is fine voice as she walked over to us. "I'm so glad to see you, I just lost you guys once we split up!" Sasha kept on as I felt Shigaraki's gaze pass over us.

Sasha kept up the loud voice as I talked under her. "Don't look back at Izuku at all. We noticed, and he's in danger, as are we if we alert him. Aizawa already knows and is on his way. Stay with us no matter what!"

She nodded to something Sasha said as she glanced at me. "Are you ok, Micah? I know it must be hard carrying all those bags?" She nodded, and I nodded in return as I kept my eyes on Shigaraki.

He said a few more words to Izuku as Sasha and Ochaco carried on their conversation for a few more minutes, and I noticed the mall slowly emptied bit by bit. 'Finally! Now we just have to catch him!' I glanced back over to see Izuku clutching his neck and panting, with Shigaraki nowhere to be found.

I dropped the bags and leapt towards Izuku. "Where did he go?!" I nearly shouted as police and heroes flooded in. "I-i don't know! He nearly knocked me out and disappeared by the time I caught my breath." I could tell by the angry red handprint on his next Izuku wasn't lying, not that it made me feel any better.

After the police and heroes swarmed the mall only to find Shigaraki gone, they spread out to try and find him, as a few detectives stayed back to get our stories. They talked to Izuku the most since he'd been talking to Shigaraki, with Sasha and me giving our side of the story from our perspective as well.

Once it was all said and done, I was exhausted. I still went to Sasha's house to drop everything off, though. "You really didn't have to help; I could have managed on my own." She opened the door wide open so I could drag all the bags in.

"It's fine, after the mess at the mall, I thought this would be a good way to wind down." We then sorted everything that she'd bought. She didn't let me touch a few things that stayed in their bags, but I got to help with most of it.

"Thanks for going shopping with me. Next time, I'll let you choose the date." She said, and I couldn't help but grin. "So there'll be a next time? Sweet!" She scoffed and grabbed my shirt, pulling me close as she kissed me.

I froze, not knowing what to do, and not expecting this at all as she finally released me. "Don't forget, you're mine now. See you soon!" I made it back to Shoto's house in a daze, still not fully understanding what happened.

Shoto raised a brow when I walked in. That was when I realized that Sasha's lipstick must have stuck to me. "Looks like you had fun." He said simply as I nodded, taking off my shoes. "Yeah, it was a good day."
