The ground beneath the classroom wasn't stable anymore.
It had fully transformed.
No desks. No windows. No familiar walls.
Only a vast, shifting arena that looked like broken metal and floating panels suspended in darkness.
The students stood scattered across different zones.
David, Sharon, Pearl, and Collin ended up on the same platform.
Across from them… the creatures emerged again.
But this time, there were more.
And they weren't random.
They were organized.
Pearl swallowed hard. "So… this is the test?"
Collin cracked his knuckles nervously. "This looks more like a death sentence."
Sharon didn't answer. Her eyes were locked on the enemies ahead.
David stepped slightly forward. "Stay close. Don't separate."
A loud system tone echoed:
TEAM FORMATION LOCKED: GROUP A
Then another voice—calm, familiar, the teacher:
"Your first real test begins now."
The creatures moved.
Instantly.
FIRST CLASH
One creature lunged at Collin.
He panicked—but reacted.
"NOT TODAY!"
He slammed his foot down.
A shockwave burst out—sending the creature flying back.
Pearl's eyes widened. "Wait… you can do that?!"
Collin grinned nervously. "I didn't know I could either!"
Another creature attacked Sharon from the side.
She raised her hand—
But nothing came out.
Her power flickered.
"Why isn't it working?!" she snapped.
David turned sharply. "It's interference. The system is limiting output."
Two creatures now rushed David.
He didn't move.
Instead, his eyes shifted—like before.
The hidden structure appeared again.
Lines. Weak points. Connections.
"Left gap… then forward…" he muttered.
He stepped exactly where he needed to.
Both creatures missed him completely and collided into each other.
Pearl stared. "How is he doing that?"
NEW PRESENCE ENTERS
A sudden explosion of light burst from the far side of the arena.
A figure landed hard on a floating platform.
Long coat. Calm posture. Sharp eyes.
A new student.
He slowly stood up.
"Tch… so this is the so-called test?"
Sharon squinted. "Who is that?"
He looked over casually.
"Tobi."
A pause.
"I got transferred here this morning… and now I'm fighting monsters. Great welcome."
A creature charged him instantly.
Tobi didn't even flinch.
He raised two fingers.
"Too slow."
A thin arc of energy snapped through the air.
The creature froze mid-air—
Then split apart into glowing fragments.
Collin's jaw dropped. "WHAT?!"
Tobi sighed. "This is weaker than I expected."
David stared at him for a moment.
"…He's not normal."
TEAMWORK FORMS
More creatures began surrounding them.
Now it was chaos.
Pearl finally stepped forward.
"I can't keep running!"
She closed her eyes.
For a moment… nothing happened.
Then—
A soft glow formed around her hands.
She touched the ground.
And suddenly, faint energy barriers rose—forming temporary shields around the group.
Sharon looked shocked. "Pearl… you had defense abilities?!"
Pearl shook. "I didn't know until now!"
Collin smirked. "Okay, okay! Now we're talking!"
David took a deep breath.
"Everyone listen."
All eyes turned to him.
"We don't fight individually."
He pointed at the arena structure.
"We break it together."
Tobi glanced over. "Interesting plan."
Sharon clenched her fist. "Just say what to do."
David nodded.
"Pearl—shield zones. Collin—create openings. Sharon—control pressure bursts. Tobi—cut through high threats."
A pause.
Then Sharon smirked slightly.
"…Bossy. I like it."
COORDINATED ATTACK
The creatures rushed again.
But this time—
They moved as a team.
Pearl raised barriers—blocking incoming strikes.
Collin slammed the ground, creating shock openings in enemy movement.
Sharon finally regained control.
A burst of unstable heat energy erupted from her palm—forcing enemies back.
Tobi moved like a shadow.
Every motion precise.
Every strike instant.
David watched it all.
Then he saw it.
The core pattern.
"Their movement syncs through one central link," he said quickly. "If we break that—"
Tobi finished the sentence.
"We collapse them all."
David nodded.
"Exactly."
He raised his hand.
For the first time—
He didn't just observe the system.
He interacted with it.
"Break link structure."
A pulse spread outward.
The arena flickered violently.
The creatures froze.
Then—
Their connection shattered.
One by one, they collapsed into light.
Silence fell.
AFTERMATH
The platform stabilized.
The arena dimmed slightly.
Pearl collapsed to her knees. "We… survived?"
Collin laughed in disbelief. "We actually survived!"
Sharon looked at David. "That plan… wasn't normal."
Tobi stepped closer, studying David.
"You're the center of this, aren't you?"
David didn't answer immediately.
Because deep down… he already knew.
Something about him wasn't just "part of the test."
It was the reason it existed.
The teacher's voice echoed again:
"First phase complete."
A pause.
Then—
"But now you know each other."
The arena darkened.
"Second phase… will separate you."
David's eyes sharpened.
"…Separate us?"
The ground beneath them began to split again.
