Thus, the play base for this beta test was split into two groups after all the reveals about the Decagon. The group that still decided to play it anyway, as, despite everything, it was still wanted. Was it the game they felt they deserved? No, it was not. Then again, they were not the ones who made this game, so could they really complain about how it was made themselves? They saw everything, heard everything there was to know about this game beforehand. They had all the information about that one could get, and they interpreted it incorrectly. That was their fault, as this is what they wanted after all, thus they can not complain that someone gave it to them exactly as they wanted.
They were given a choice to just not sign the contract that they had to before being allowed to be taken to where they were currently to carry out this beta test. They were all that knew of this game's existence were asked the question of "do they want anything to change". This "all" extended to both those who were the ten thousand and nine that were taking part in this beta test, those who rejected signing the contract right before being allowed, and even those who learned of the game's existence, then, in turn, followed its progress, yet could go beyond that point. The reasoning was varied and many, but given that they were all the lot that did not like leaks. No one who knew of the game's existence would leak to the general public, even if they were not part of the official beta test. Those that did, well, they were immediately shut down and discredited fully and completely by Kynatech after all.
However, the other group was the players who basically abandoned the game after learning what it truly was, compared to what they merely assumed it to be. Disappointed that it was what they wanted, but instead just exactly what they asked for. What they confirmed they wanted whenever asked, as they were given all the information and told everything they were getting into beforehand. It was their own fault for assuming too much in a scenario where they were clearly informed of how, why, and what was taking place. Though they only accepted the who and when part of everything instead. They were not allowed to leave the area, but they were well taken care of by the company to just relax and chill in the facility itself. They all had their own rooms that were filled with things they liked and wanted to be filled with. The facility had a fully stocked kitchen that had enough food in it to last and feed all ten thousand and nine of the comfortably for the entire course of the beta test. Though they did not like the Decagon itself, they were given other games and means of entertaining themselves beyond what was located in their own personal rooms. Everything was Kynatech based, but they were a company that owned a lot of others, thus the selection of things was vast and wide. Shocking to many who discovered certain things were actually owned by Kynatech, which is why they were included here.
Moving back to the group that continued playing the game itself. They took on the challenge of playing this game that was truly and fully player driven, in the fullest sense of the words and term. The remaining players in all ten starting areas each did something different that reflected those who were left playing in those areas.
The Guilds were the first places that the players started to fill, as they felt that someone had to get them up and running. Just because there was nothing to hunt down does not mean there was nothing to explore, as the world outside this starting area was vast, detailed, and dense. There might not be in random chests or boxes to just find place items within randomly. However, that did not mean treasure and discoveries did not exist. They quickly learned that if somewhere and something existed, then everything and anything one would expect to find within it was present. The only thing this world did not have was NPCs, alone. Everything else was present within every building and home. One could go to a weapons shop and find it full of weapons, a grocery store full of groceries, an inn full of furniture, and even the Guild was still flushed out and set up, too.
They were given this world and told to build it themselves after all. That was never something that was promoted or advertised to them ever. They were told repeatedly they were being given a world to live within, however they wanted, where everything that happened was and would be their choices. Thus, the world was in some sense their oyster, and the great exploration age that many only knew about from history books was no longer before them. This world was different than that era, though, as they did not have to build anything once they found it; they merely had to live there. Everything they could have wanted or needed was there for them to access. They just had a claim and ran it themselves; it was all.
Making sure that numerous players would join the Guild and take on the various assignments that they were handing out. As another thing that players discovered was that if the world were truly as it would be normally, with just no NPCs present. Then everything that one would expect would be present within every building as well. So the one who claimed a building came into possession of everything and anything within said building or home. Including the money that was kept within it, as this world had a currency after all, and well, the player who discovered that was the one who benefited from that the most.
How things played out with the players in the ten different areas was their choice after all. Did they work together, or did the people who claimed all the building first do what was expected, what was right, what was wrong, or merely what they wanted? That was all up to them, as player choice was what drove this world after all.
