Chapter 8 - THE RETURN TO THE CELESTIAL COURT

The clouds parted as Yue Yan stepped onto the glowing bridge leading to the Celestial Court.

It had been years since she last walked this path—since she chose seclusion over the world beyond. But now, as the divine wind moved around her, it responded differently.

It recognized her.

She had changed.

She was no longer just Yue Yun's younger sister.

She had become something more.

The guards at the gate froze for a brief moment as she approached. Surprise flickered across their faces, but none of them dared to stop her. Behind her, Xiao Jiu's nine silver tails flowed gracefully, while Yue Yan's robes shimmered like a sky full of stars.

She walked past them without slowing.

Inside, the Celestial Court stood vast and silent. The Ten Divine Lords sat upon their floating thrones, arranged in a perfect circle. As Yue Yan entered, their attention shifted toward her, their expressions calm… but watchful.

"Yue Yan," Shen Xuanzun, the Judgment Lord, spoke first. His voice was steady, carrying easily through the hall. "You break your seclusion without summons. Why?"

Yue Yan didn't hesitate.

"I come with a warning."

Her voice echoed clearly.

"The Supreme Demon Lord is stirring. He reached for me—not with force, but with his will."

A low murmur spread through the court.

"Impossible," Lady Yue Yaozun, the ruler of the moon, said, her tone firm. "The seal between realms still holds."

"Then it is weakening," Yue Yan replied calmly. "If Wen Shouye can reach across realms like this, the balance is already shifting faster than you realize."

Yan Wuhen, the Flame Lord, narrowed his eyes. "You claim a Demon Lord seeks you?" he asked. "For what purpose?"

Yue Yan met his gaze without flinching.

"He said… I would choose him."

Silence.

The air in the court seemed to tighten.

"Empty words," Lei Zhanzun muttered. "Demons speak in lies."

But Shen Xuanzun remained thoughtful.

"And what did you feel, Yue Yan?" he asked quietly. "What truth lies beneath his words?"

For the first time, she hesitated.

Not because she believed Wen Shouye…

But because something in her had responded to him.

Something deep.

Something she couldn't yet understand.

"I felt danger," she said slowly. "And… I felt fate."

The court fell silent again.

After a moment, Shen Xuanzun gave a small nod.

"Then your seclusion ends."

His voice carried quiet authority.

"You will remain in the Celestial Realm and begin your trials. If fate has touched you, then it must be tested in the light."

Yue Yan lowered her head in acknowledgment.

"I accept."

As she straightened, something unseen shifted within the hall.

Outside, the sky shimmered faintly, as though the heavens themselves were reacting.

Yue Yan had returned.

And from this moment on—

Nothing in the Three Realms would remain the same.
