{Inside the Elevator}
My broken phone buzzed. Unknown number. I stared at it, pulse thundering in my ears. Then, I answered:
"Lin speaking."
A pause. Then, a familiar voice, smug and deliberate.
"How was your birthday gift,My dear Husband?"
My breath caught up. It's him. My Fiance.Cheng.
"You sold my company."
Cheng,his Fiance replied,
Yes my hubby, did you liked my gift?
Hahahahaha hahahaha,God, I wish I could see your face right now!
I stood frozen in the elevator , the cool metal walls pressing in around me as Cheng's laughter echoed through the phone. My chest tightened, every nerve ending screaming with disbelief and rage.
The city lights blurred through my tears as I gripped the phone so hard my fingers ached.
"What the fu** is wrong with you?"
My voice cracked, but I didn't care. The betrayal stings like a thousand cuts, each word Cheng spoke felt like blades twistimg deeper in my heart.
"It's unbelievable..."
I whispered, more to myself than to him. The elevator dings, the doors sliding open to reveal the sprawling lobby of my building. People rushed past, oblivious to me crumbling inside.
Cheng mocked,
"Or you believe that your stupid little brother did this? "
Hahahahaha
"What did you do to my brother? If you touch him, I swear -
Relax," Cheng cut in, amused. "I just played him a little. He signed everything himself."
My mind went blank for a second.
Then rage flooded back in, stronger than before.
"You think this is funny?"
"Very," he said.
Beep...
He mocked and hung up the call. I walked towards my car, changing my destination from my silly little brother to my fiance.
