Chapter 8 - CHAPTER - 8

You're going to remember everything," he said, stepping back, his eyes never leaving mine. "Every scream. Every drop of blood."

A pause.

Then the final blow:

"And this time… I'll make sure you feel what she felt."

My heart stopped.

Because the way he said it—

—it wasn't a threat.

It was a promise.

And for the first time in a long time…

I was afraid.

I didn't kill her…"

The words trembled on my lips—

but I didn't let them come out.

Because the truth…wasn't that simple.

Cheng Mo was still watching me, his gaze sharp, searching—waiting for me to break, to defend myself, to deny everything.

But I didn't.

Slowly, I lowered my head.

My hands unclenched… then tightened again.

"Yes,I killed her.."

I murmured,voice hoarse.

A pause.

I could feel it—the shift.

Subtle.

But there.

Cheng Mo didn't move immediately this time.

My eyes burned, but I didn't look at him.

Because if I did—

I might break.

"I already told you the truth, you wanted to listen."

I couldn't look at him while saying that, but I needed to.

Someone has to be blamed for her death, so let it be me.

The words fell between us—heavy, deliberate.

Final.

Cheng Mo went still.

Not the kind of stillness that comes with calm—

but the kind that comes right before something breaks.

His eyes locked onto mine, searching, dissecting… as if trying to tear the truth out from beneath my skin.

"Say that again," he said quietly.

I held his gaze this time.

"I killed her."

My heart racing faster than the roller coaster.

A step closer.

Look at me when you say it."

"I am," I replied, my voice steadier than I felt. "I killed her."

Silence.

Then—

his hand shot out, gripping my chin hard enough to hurt.

Ugh- I cried.

Liar."

The word was sharp. Precise.

I didn't react.

Didn't look away.

Because if I did—

everything would collapse.
