Chapter 7 - CHAPTER - 7

"Your ex-wife."

My throat tightened, dry as sandpaper. I tried to pull away, but his grip only tightened around my throat, choking me tightly enough to make me breathless.

You don't get to pretend," he continued, his voice dropping lower, more lethal.

"You don't get to be here and act like you don't remember."

didn't—" My voice cracked, betraying me. "I didn't kill anyone."

A lie.

And we both knew it.

His lips curled, not into a smile—but something far more terrifying.

"Say her name."

I froze.

My chest rose and fell unevenly, each breath heavier than the last. My mind screamed at me to deny it again, to twist the truth, to run—

—but her face flashed before my eyes.

Blood.

Tears.

That last look she gave me.

" My knees nearly buckled. "I...i ...m sorry..

My hands brushing off his hands, but his grip only tightened more.I couldn't catch breath anymore.

That was all it took.

Cheng Mo snapped.

His hand left my throat only to slam me hard on the floor. The impact knocked the air out of my lungs, pain exploding through my back.

Look at you," Cheng Mo murmured, "Struggling to breathe… Does it feel familiar?"

And "Sorry?he repeated, his voice dangerously quiet now."

His hand shot up, gripping my collar, pulling me closer until his breath brushed against my face—cold, furious, unforgiving.

"She begged you," he hissed. "Do you remember that? Or should I remind you how she begged for her life?"

My vision blurred

I knew I couldn't hide the truth from him anymore, which I kept hidden for years.

I didn't— I wasn't myself—"

"Exactly," he cut in sharply. "You weren't human."

The words sliced deeper than any knife.

"Monster."

That's what he called me.

Whatever happens,I can't tell him...

For a moment, neither of us spoke.

The silence between us was suffocating, thick with something far darker than anger.

Then, slowly—too slowly—Cheng Mo let go.

I collapsed forward slightly, gasping, my body trembling.

You're going to remember everything," he said, stepping back, his eyes never leaving mine. "Every scream. Every drop of blood."
