I was quietly working in my office. The ringing of the phone pierced the quiet hum of my office.
Ring ..Ring ..Ring...
The Late afternoon light spilled across my desk, reflecting off the polished wood. I picked up, not bothering to check the caller ID.
"Mr Lin."
A voice I didn't recognize said,
"Mr. Lin, this is Adrian Blake from Collins Capital. I'm calling to inform you that your controlling stake in Axiom Innovations has been successfully liquidated. We've acquired all outstanding shares."
The room tilted slightly, as if gravity has shifted under my feet. My fingers tightened around the Phone.
"What...?That's impossible...."
I said, though my voice sounded distant even to myself.
"Who authorized the sale?"
The phone felt suddenly heavier in my hand, my pulse hammering in my ears. Sunlight streams through the floor-to-ceiling windows, but the office feels suffocatingly small, the air thick with the sour taste of dread.
"Your brother, I believe,"
Adrian Blake replied smoothly. "The paperwork was filed this morning. I trust you're aware of the recent... financial troubles at Axiom?"
My vision darkened at the edges. I knew exactly what he was referring to—the months of declining profits, the missed projections, the unsustainable expansion. But this? This wasn't supposed to happen.
I forced my voice steady.
"My brother will never do something so stupid.."
"Apology sir that your brother did not informed you of this..."
Adrian Blake responded calmly.
"Shut the fuck up"
I said with my voice cold,and hurled my phone away on the glass window, which shattered on the floor.
"My brother...he will never do something to hurt me."
My chest felt heavy,it rose and fell rapidly.
A faint light flickered from the broken phone.
My gaze dropped to it.
Adrian sent me a message. A document with my brother's sign on it.
I kept staring at the document with my hands trembling around the phone.My breath stopped.
Silence filled the room.
The grip tightened,knucles turning white.
