Chapter 31 - Chapter 33:Clash Of Moon And Shadow

The clearing had barely settled after the rogue attack when the air grew heavy again.

Lyra was still in Darius's arms, her breathing uneven from the Moonborn Shift she had just unleashed. The silver markings on her skin were fading slowly, but the energy inside her was far from calm.

Across the clearing, Kael stepped out of the darkness like a shadow given form.

His crimson eyes glowed with fascination.

"Beautiful," he said softly.

Darius's jaw tightened.

"You should have stayed in the mountains."

Kael ignored him completely. His gaze was locked on Lyra as if nothing else in the world existed.

"The Moonborn Shift," he murmured. "A power that only appears in legends."

Lyra forced herself to stand, slipping out of Darius's hold despite the exhaustion in her limbs.

"I'm not a legend," she said coldly.

Kael smiled.

"No… you're a prize."

The warriors around the clearing tensed immediately.

Lyra's wolf snarled inside her chest.

"I'm not something you can take."

Kael's smile widened.

"Everything can be taken."

The ground trembled as dark energy rolled off his body.

Darius stepped forward instantly, golden power flaring around him.

"Not her."

The two Alphas faced each other across the clearing.

Moonlight glowed behind Lyra.

Darkness gathered around Kael.

For a moment, the entire forest seemed to hold its breath.

Then Kael moved.

He was impossibly fast.

In the blink of an eye he crossed half the clearing, his claws aimed directly for Lyra's throat.

Darius intercepted him.

Their powers collided like thunder.

Golden energy clashed with dark silver light, sending a shockwave through the trees.

Both Alphas skidded backward across the ground.

Kael laughed.

"So the young Alpha has teeth."

Darius's wolf roared through his chest.

"You're leaving."

Kael tilted his head.

"You really believe you can stop me?"

Before Darius could respond, Kael attacked again.

This time his claws tore through the air with deadly precision.

Darius shifted partially, his wolf instincts taking control as he blocked the strike with brutal force.

The clearing exploded into chaos.

They moved faster than most wolves could follow—claws flashing, power surging with every collision.

Lyra watched for only a second before stepping forward.

Her wolf growled.

This fight is yours too.

Silver energy sparked across her hands again.

Kael noticed immediately.

His crimson eyes lit with excitement.

"Yes," he said. "Show me."

Lyra's Moonfire ignited once more.

The clearing filled with silver flames.

Darius and Kael separated just as Lyra launched forward.

She struck first.

Her Moonfire slammed into Kael's chest like a blazing comet.

The impact forced him back several steps.

But instead of anger—

Kael laughed again.

"That's it!"

Dark energy exploded from his body.

The ground cracked beneath his feet.

Lyra felt the power hit her like a wall.

This was different from the rogues.

This was the strength of an ancient Alpha.

Kael lifted his hand.

Shadowy energy gathered around his claws.

"Let me show you what a corrupted Moonborn can do."

He swung his arm.

A wave of dark power tore across the clearing.

Lyra barely raised her Moonfire shield in time.

The impact sent her flying backward.

She crashed into the dirt, the breath knocked from her lungs.

"Lyra!" Darius shouted.

Kael moved instantly to follow the strike.

But Darius was faster.

His wolf surged to the surface.

Golden light exploded around him as he shifted halfway, claws extending, eyes blazing.

His Alpha aura filled the clearing.

"You touch her again," he growled,

"And I'll tear you apart."

For the first time—

Kael looked impressed.

"There it is."

His crimson eyes gleamed.

"The true Alpha."

They clashed again.

This time the impact shook the entire forest.

Darius's claws raked across Kael's shoulder.

Kael retaliated with a brutal strike that split the ground between them.

The battle was savage.

Raw.

Two powerful Alphas fighting with everything they had.

Lyra slowly pushed herself up from the ground.

Her wolf was furious.

Darius was fighting alone.

She wouldn't allow that.

The Moonfire inside her surged again.

Stronger this time.

Wilder.

Silver flames wrapped around her body.

But something else awakened with it.

A deep pull from the moon itself.

Lyra lifted her hand.

The light above the clearing flickered.

The moon responded.

A beam of pure silver energy descended from the sky.

It wrapped around Lyra like a pillar of light.

Everyone froze.

Even Kael stopped moving.

His crimson eyes widened slightly.

"No…"

Lyra's voice echoed with power.

"I told you."

The energy surged through her body.

Her silver markings burned brighter than ever.

"I am not prey."

She thrust her hand forward.

The moonbeam exploded outward.

A massive wave of Moonborn energy slammed into Kael.

The rogue Alpha was thrown across the clearing and crashed violently into the ground.

Silence followed.

Kael slowly pushed himself up.

Blood dripped from the corner of his mouth.

But he was still smiling.

"A moon channeler…" he whispered.

His eyes burned with obsession.

"You're even more valuable than I thought."

Darius stepped beside Lyra.

Both of them glowed with power now.

"Leave," Darius said coldly.

Kael studied them for a moment.

Then he laughed softly.

"This battle isn't finished."

He stepped backward into the shadows of the forest.

"But tonight has been… enlightening."

His crimson eyes locked onto Lyra one last time.

"Grow stronger, Moonborn."

His voice dropped into a chilling whisper.

"You'll need it when I return."

Then he vanished.

The forest slowly fell silent again.

Lyra's power faded as the moonbeam disappeared.

Her legs weakened.

Darius caught her instantly.

"You're unbelievable," he said quietly.

Lyra managed a tired smile.

"Did we win?"

Darius looked toward the dark forest where Kael had disappeared.

His expression hardened.

"No."

He helped her stand.

"This was only the beginning."

The moon shone brighter above them.

And somewhere in the darkness…

Kael was already planning his next move.
