Chapter 10 - Chapter 12:Under The Moon

The forest had gone silent.

Not the peaceful silence of night, but the heavy, suffocating kind that warned of danger.

Lyra could feel it in the air.

The hunters were close.

The wolves surrounding her had shifted uneasily, their glowing eyes scanning the darkness between the trees. Their low growls vibrated through the ground like distant thunder.

Sienna stood beside Lyra, gripping her arm.

"I don't like this," she whispered nervously.

Lyra didn't answer immediately.

Her senses had sharpened beyond anything she had ever experienced. Every breath of wind carried scents to her nose. Every rustle of a leaf echoed loudly in her ears.

And one smell stood out among the rest.

Iron.

Blood.

Silver.

Her eyes narrowed.

"They're here," Lyra said quietly.

Almost instantly, shadows moved between the trees.

Dark figures stepped forward slowly, surrounding them from all directions.

Hunters.

At least fifteen of them.

They wore black coats and carried weapons that gleamed under the moonlight—crossbows, silver blades, and guns designed to kill wolves.

Sienna's heart began pounding violently.

"Oh no…"

One of the hunters stepped forward. A tall man with a scar across his face and cold gray eyes.

His gaze locked onto Lyra.

"There she is," he said calmly.

Lyra's wolves growled louder.

The man smiled darkly.

"The Moonborn girl."

Sienna's grip on Lyra tightened.

"How do they know who you are?" she whispered.

Lyra didn't know.

But something deep inside her stirred.

Something old.

Something dangerous.

The hunter lifted his weapon slowly.

"We've been looking for you for a long time."

Lyra tilted her head slightly.

"For me?"

"Yes."

His smile widened.

"You're not just a wolf, girl."

A cold wind rushed through the trees.

"You're something far more valuable."

Before Sienna could react—

TWANG.

A crossbow fired.

The silver arrow shot straight toward Lyra.

But before it could touch her—

A massive wolf leapt in front of her.

The arrow pierced its shoulder.

The wolf collapsed with a painful howl.

Sienna screamed.

Lyra froze.

For a single moment the world stopped.

The wounded wolf whimpered on the ground.

It had protected her.

Protected her without hesitation.

Something inside Lyra snapped.

The energy that had been building inside her chest suddenly exploded outward like a storm breaking free.

The ground beneath her feet trembled.

The hunters stepped back in shock.

"What the hell—?"

Lyra slowly lifted her head.

Her silver eyes were glowing brighter now.

Brighter than the moon above.

Her breathing deepened.

Her body began to change.

Pain shot through her bones.

Her fingers curled as claws slowly pushed through the tips.

Sienna stared in disbelief.

"Lyra…?"

The hunters raised their weapons again.

"Shoot her!"

But it was too late.

Lyra's scream tore through the forest.

It wasn't fully human anymore.

It was something wild.

Something ancient.

Her body partially shifted, silver fur spreading along her arms, her senses exploding into something powerful and unstoppable.

The wolves around her howled.

They could feel it.

Their queen had awakened.

Lyra moved.

Faster than any of them expected.

Before the hunters could react, she appeared in front of one of them.

Her claws slashed across his chest.

The man screamed and fell backward.

Panic spread through the group.

"What is she?!"

"Kill her!"

Bullets fired.

Silver blades flashed.

But Lyra moved like a storm between them.

Every movement felt natural.

Instinctive.

Her claws struck again, knocking another hunter into the dirt.

Behind her, the wolves attacked as well, lunging from the shadows and dragging hunters to the ground.

The forest exploded into chaos.

Sienna stood frozen in shock as the battle unfolded around her.

She had never seen anything like it.

Lyra fought like a creature born for war.

But even with her power, the hunters were many.

Another arrow flew through the air—

And this one struck Lyra in the side.

She gasped.

Pain burned through her body as the silver tip pierced her skin.

The world spun for a moment.

The hunters smiled cruelly.

"There! She bleeds!"

The scarred leader stepped forward slowly, holding a long silver blade.

"Even monsters can die."

Lyra dropped to one knee.

The silver burned like fire inside her.

Her vision blurred.

But then…

Something strange happened.

Deep inside her chest, the power surged again.

Stronger.

Wilder.

And somewhere far away…

Someone else felt it.

Back at the Darkwood pack house, Kael suddenly staggered backward.

A violent pain ripped through his chest.

His wolf roared inside his mind.

MATE IN DANGER.

Kael's eyes widened in horror.

Lyra.

Without thinking, he ran.

Straight into the forest.

Back in the clearing, the scarred hunter raised his blade.

"This ends now."

But just as he stepped closer—

The wolves around Lyra began to bow.

One by one.

Even in the middle of the battle.

The hunters hesitated.

"What are they doing?"

Lyra slowly lifted her head.

Her glowing silver eyes locked onto the man.

The arrow still stuck in her side.

Yet she stood.

The wind howled violently through the forest.

Her voice came out low and powerful.

"You shouldn't have come for me."

The ground beneath them cracked slightly as the energy around her exploded outward.

The hunters froze.

Fear spreading across their faces.

Because in that moment…

Lyra no longer looked like prey.

She looked like something far worse.

Something ancient.

Something unstoppable.
