Chapter 15 - Chapter 17:The Pull Of The Bond

The forest was quiet again.

Too quiet.

Lyra stood at the edge of the clearing, the cold night air brushing against her skin. The battle from earlier had left the ground scarred—broken branches, claw marks carved into tree trunks, and the faint metallic scent of dried blood lingering in the wind.

Her silver eyes glowed faintly beneath the moonlight.

Something inside her had changed.

Ever since the fight, the strange power within her had grown stronger. It moved through her veins like liquid fire, restless and wild. Every sound in the forest reached her ears with perfect clarity—the rustling leaves, the distant cry of an owl, even the slow heartbeat of the forest itself.

It was overwhelming.

Lyra pressed a hand against her chest, breathing slowly.

"Why does it feel like this…" she murmured.

It wasn't just the power.

It was the bond.

Even though the old mate bond with Karl had been broken, something else had taken its place. A pull. A quiet but undeniable force tugging at her soul.

And it led to one person.

Darius.

Her wolf stirred at the thought of him.

Images from the battle flashed through her mind—Darius standing beside her, fighting like a storm, his golden eyes burning with a fierce protectiveness that made her heart race.

He had risked his life for her.

Again.

A branch snapped somewhere behind her.

Lyra turned instantly, her body tense.

From the shadows, a tall figure stepped forward.

Darius.

The moonlight revealed his strong frame, his dark hair slightly damp from the night mist. His golden eyes met hers, glowing faintly in the darkness.

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

The air between them felt heavy.

Charged.

"You shouldn't be out here alone," Darius finally said, his voice low.

Lyra folded her arms.

"I could say the same to you."

A faint smirk touched his lips, but it quickly faded as his gaze softened.

"I wanted to check on you."

Her heart skipped.

"I'm fine," she replied quickly.

But Darius took a step closer, studying her carefully.

"No… you're not."

Lyra looked away.

The truth was written all over her face. The power inside her was becoming harder to control, and the strange pull toward him was making things even more confusing.

Darius noticed the tension in her body.

"You're feeling it too… aren't you?" he said quietly.

Lyra froze.

Her eyes slowly lifted to meet his.

"Feeling what?"

His gaze darkened slightly.

"The bond."

The word hung between them.

Lyra's breath caught.

"I don't know what you're talking about."

Darius sighed softly.

"You can lie to yourself, Lyra… but you can't lie to your wolf."

He took another step closer.

Now only a small distance separated them.

Lyra could feel the warmth of his body, could hear the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. The strange energy inside her reacted instantly, pulsing stronger.

Her wolf stirred eagerly.

Darius noticed the change.

His voice lowered.

"Ever since the night your old bond broke… something new started forming."

Lyra's pulse quickened.

"That's impossible."

"Is it?"

His golden eyes searched hers deeply.

Lyra's wolf pushed forward inside her, restless.

The pull between them grew stronger.

It was magnetic.

Dangerous.

And impossible to ignore.

Darius lifted his hand slowly, hesitating for a moment before gently touching her wrist.

The moment their skin met—

A sudden surge of energy exploded through Lyra's body.

Her breath hitched.

Images flashed through her mind.

Running through the forest.

Fighting side by side.

Standing together beneath the full moon.

Her heart pounded wildly.

Darius felt it too.

His grip on her wrist tightened slightly as shock flickered across his face.

"You felt that…" he whispered.

Lyra nodded slowly, her voice barely audible.

"Yes."

Silence fell again.

The truth was becoming impossible to deny.

This wasn't just attraction.

This was something deeper.

Something ancient.

Darius stepped even closer now, his voice rough.

"The Moon Goddess doesn't make mistakes."

Lyra's chest rose and fell rapidly.

"Darius…"

But before she could finish—

A loud howl echoed through the forest.

Both of them stiffened.

It wasn't a normal howl.

It was a warning.

Darius's expression immediately darkened.

"Hunters."

Lyra's eyes widened.

"Again?"

Darius nodded grimly.

"They're getting closer to the pack territory."

Another howl echoed—closer this time.

Lyra's wolf instantly awakened with fierce determination.

The fear inside her faded, replaced by cold resolve.

She looked up at Darius.

"Then we stop them."

A slow smile spread across his face.

"That's exactly what I wanted to hear."

For the first time that night, their eyes met without hesitation.

Not as strangers.

Not as allies.

But as something far more dangerous.

Something fate itself seemed to be creating.

And deep in the sky above them—

The moon glowed brighter.

As if watching.

As if waiting.

Because the true power of the Moonborn had only just begun to awaken. 🌙🐺
