Flood Dragon Chapter 10: Ten Thousand Streams Converging Sea
A giant grey wolf was brought up the mountain along with the sound of fluttering gingko leaves.
"Master, disciple has brought you food." The gingko tree swayed happily.
Tian Yisong was in a good mood because not only did he find good prey, but also because this giant wolf had been quite a demon.
After descending the mountain, using the gingko branch as his avatar, Tian Yisong activated his fate Divine abilities which could perceive evils and calamity both large and small. It has led him to this wolf.
From the feedback of his investigation, this wolf was truly evil even amongst demon kind.
Not only did it eat humans on a regular basis, it also ate its own kind. When Tian Yisong captured it, he had done a soul search just in case. The results left him truly speechless.
'Not only did this beast eat countless innocent humans both old and young. It has also devoured its old kind, such is the nature of demonic cultivators.'
'But what made it so evil was that it had devoured its own parents, its own wife and children just to advance its own cultivation… Absorb!'
'To think in these past decades, I had left behind such an animal on the mountain areas…'
'Patricide, matricide, uxoricide, filicide… Even a lowly beast without intelligence was better than this! It was because of beasts like these that our reputations got worse and worse!'
Thoughts of anger flashed through his mind like lightning in stormy night. In that instant , he had almost killed the beast on the spot out of anger.
But upon thinking that this beast would become his master's food and provide him with some joy of eating, Tian Yisong suddenly felt much better.
By capturing this wolf, the gingko tree felt like it had done a good deed.
But when he brought the wolf up the mountain, he was surprised to see that his master did not pay any mind to the giant wolf.
Instead he found his master looking at the human girl with a look of shock and… Curiosity?
He turned his attention to Wan Zhaolu and was shocked when he saw the state she was in.
'Oh no! I have been too focused on finding suitable targets so much that I completely forgot about little Lu! Although I told her to not look at any True Daoist directly, let alone a perfected Divine abilities True Daoist like Master is not someone she can look at!'
Meanwhile Zhou Zaizhi was puzzled for a moment. He then snapped his head to the left and saw the trembling Wan Zhaolu not far away.
Because he was probing the gingko tree earlier, he had failed to notice the girl's abnormal state.
'When did she turned this pale? She's sweating buckets.'
Just as he was having this thought, the familiar voice of a woman rang out beside his ear again:
'Not good, my bodily functions are failing. Even worse, my Dao Foundation is damaged… To think I survived hundred battles, but will die here because I stole a glance at a Great True Daoist…'
Upon hearing this, Zhou Zaizhi was instantly alarmed.
'My mere presence is capable of killing a Foundation Establishment cultivator? What in the world is this? Yesterday she was looking and talking at me just fine? Unless…'
Just as his thought had reached this point, Zhou Zaizhi suddenly realized the cause of the problem.
'It's the black object given by that person in my dream! The gingko tree said I've perfected my Divine abilities. Whatever that meant, it was before I had resonated with the black object which must hold an extremely high rank.'
At this moment, all things became clear to him. An image of a shining star appeared in his mind. It was the second star he had glimpsed at but failed to see it clearly.
Now it was clear. A name instantly appeared in his mind, like something random he had forgotten and suddenly remembered out of nowhere.
'Ten Thousand Streams Converging Sea…'
Tian Yisong immediately sent a flowing green light over to the trembling Sword Immortal.
The instant he realized this, Zhou Zaizhi immediately restrained his presence.
It was a strange feeling. Like huddling himself and trying to appear as small as possible hoping others would not notice.
Originally when he came into this world, he did not know many things. However, after experiencing that vivid dream of being a youngling and meeting that mysterious figure, he felt as if he had grasped many things.
Restraining his aura and hiding his presence undetectable was one of them.
At the same time, upon noticing Wan Zhaolu's current state, Tian Yisong immediately sent a flowing green light over to the trembling Sword Immortal.
Wan Zhaolu felt a familiar warmth of spring on her body. Her trembling body gradually stopped, her damaged Dao Foundation and failing body was fixed in no time. She couldn't help but thought:
'Is this the omnipotence part of a Golden Core cultivator? Truly befitting the title of Immortals. My damaged Dao Foundation which would have taken me decades to heal was fixed just like that.'
Zhou Zaizhi, who had been listening, shook his head inwardly upon hearing this.
Ever since he had received that black object in the dream and comprehended its profound mysteries, his perspective of the world changed.
'I thought I was in a slightly different world where dragons are just big lizards and talking trees was something not unusual.'
'But to think Gods and Immortals exist in this world. The kind that could never be killed by a holy spear and sword, like an inexplicable being…'
Ignorant was truly a bliss.
The more he knew, the more fearful became.
'But I want to live! If I want to survive, I have to adapt to this new world and remain cautious…'
Zhou Zaizhi turned his grey draconic head to look at the human and tree before him with a slight smile.
'And these two can be the keys to my survival.'
The gingko tree on one hand, was startled by the flood dragon's creepy smile.
"Master, have you achieved another breakthrough? Your presence had grown to an unbelievable high level even to me. Dominating like the blazing Sun in daylight, yet hard to hard to measure like an ancient sea."
Zhou Zaizhi looked at the gingko tree but didn't answer immediately. He looked at the giant grey wolf lying paralyzed in a cage of green light. To his dragon senses, the wolf smelled of copper, rotting meat, and a greasy, turbulent blood Qi.
'The gingko tree said this is food,' Zhou Zaizhi swallowed his saliva, not sure whether it was out of dread or out of hunger.
His stomach let out a low, thunderous growl that shook the loose pebbles on the mountain path. 'But the thought of tearing into raw, demonic flesh is a bit… Nauseating.'
But nevertheless, he still ate it in one bite.
He impaled the giant wolf with his claw and threw it into his mouth. Trying to eat it in one go, Zhou Zaizhi reluctantly chewed it to make sure the wolf body didn't get stuck in his throat. He swallowed the wolf whole in one fell swoop.
As for the wailing giant wolf, it died from the first bite.
'Weird, such a giant wolf and my hunger is not even remotely sated. Although my new body is truly big, this wolf should still provide some comfort to the stomach.'
'But there was nothing at all, barely anything. It was more like a snack.'
Zhou Zaizhi frowned at the prospect of eating more.
If the giant wolf was only this, then how much would he need to eat to sate his hunger?
"Was the food not to your liking, Master?"
Tian Yisong asked calmly. By now, he had already regained his composure.
Zhou Zaizhi shook his head and was about to answer when he heard a loud voice that made him flinch.
"Yuan Baizhi, come out."
"Either you come out, or I go up the mountain and drag you out myself."
The voice paused slightly before continuing:
"Chu Fu has come to visit."
