~Salvatore's POV
Matteo opened the door for me the moment I stepped out, his movements precise, practiced, like he had done it a thousand times and never once gotten it wrong.
I got into the car without a word.
The leather seat was cool, the air inside quiet, controlled, just the way I preferred it. Matteo closed the door behind me and moved to the driver's seat, starting the engine almost immediately. Within seconds, the convoy fell into place behind us, black cars sliding into motion like shadows that knew exactly where they belonged.
We drove.
The estate disappeared behind us, its lights fading into nothing, and the road ahead stretched long and empty.
For a while, I said nothing.
I just watched the passing darkness through the window, my mind already shifting away from the house, away from her, and back to what actually required my attention.
"Is he secured?" I asked, finally, my voice calm but carrying enough weight to make the question unnecessary to repeat.
