~Elsie's POV
The floor felt cold. That was the first thing I noticed when I came back to myself.
Cold and hard against my cheek, grounding in a way that almost hurt. For a few seconds, I did not move. I just lay there, my breath uneven, my chest rising and falling too fast like I had been running.
The sound of water was still there, running steadily and relentlessly. I blinked slowly, my vision blurring before it settled, and then everything rushed back all at once.
A sharp breath tore out of me as I pushed myself up too quickly, my palm slipping slightly against the wet tiles.
"No… no, no…"
My voice came out broken, unfamiliar to my own ears. I scrambled forward, reaching for the soap.
My fingers dug into my skin next, dragging myself back under the running water.
"Go away… please just go away…" I whispered, my words tumbling over each other as my hands moved faster, harder, scrubbing as if I could erase it.
