Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

After Dvalin left, the gloomy weather over Mondstadt slowly cleared up. Kael held Lumine by the waist and used the wind to glide down to the ground. Soon, Jean, Lisa, and Amber arrived.

The three of them stood before Kael. "I am Jean, Acting Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius. This is Lisa, our librarian. We have already heard about you from Amber," Jean said openly.

Lisa looked at Kael. The scene she just witnessed shocked the mage who held an Electro Vision. Setting aside whether the lightning strike was related to Kael, the fact that he could use two types of elemental power was amazing.

"To think he can use both Anemo and Electro power," Lisa said with a playful giggle. "I really want to lock you up and study you properly."

Her joke made Lumine shiver. Lumine stepped forward, wanting to stand in front of Kael. Fortunately, Jean stopped Lisa right away.

"Sorry, sorry," Lisa said, smiling as she looked Kael up and down. "It is just that we have never seen anyone like him before. I know you came to help because our Knights are short-staffed. How cute. Originally, after hearing Amber's report, we should have helped you find clues about your family. But as you can see, Mondstadt has been hit by Stormterror lately. The flow of elements and the Ley Lines are a complete mess. Please understand our situation. We are so busy dealing with our own problems right now. For a mage, a bad mood can even ruin your skin."

Hearing about skin, Lumine looked at Lisa's fair face. For some reason, the energy coming from her made Lumine feel a sense of danger. Combined with her soft, tingling voice, Lumine felt something was wrong. She quickly said, "It is fine. We just came to ask a few questions. If we are causing trouble, we will leave right now."

Lumine tried to pull Kael away from Mondstadt, but Kael stayed calm. "Don't rush, Lumine," he said. "We haven't gotten any information about the Anemo Archon, Barbatos, yet."

"Hey..." Lumine started to say, but the Acting Grand Master cut in. "The Anemo Archon, Barbatos? Ah, I am sorry. He has not appeared in Mondstadt for a very long time. Even if he does show up, we probably would not be able to find him."

"I feel like he did appear. Just now," Kael said. His words stunned everyone.

Jean was excited. "Mr. Kael, are you saying..."

"Yes. When I was facing off against Stormterror, I think that sudden gust of wind was his doing. But I am not sure if he was helping Stormterror, or helping Lumine and me."

Kael brought up the issue regarding Barbatos. Lisa, Jean, and Kael spent some time talking about it. According to Kael, he and Lumine had just arrived in Mondstadt, so Barbatos would not appear just for two strangers. His goal was likely to help Mondstadt drive away Stormterror. However, it was strange that he knew Stormterror was attacking but did not act against it.

Jean and Lisa were already troubled by the Stormterror issue, so they did not hide much. They shared all the information they knew. Stormterror's real name was Dvalin. He once served as an attendant to the Anemo Archon, Barbatos. There were still temples dedicated to him in the mountains outside Mondstadt. Dvalin was creating storms because he was using the leftover elemental power from other temples.

"I see. His name is Dvalin. He is one of the Four Winds of Mondstadt and Barbatos's attendant," Kael said. He rubbed his chin and looked at Jean and Lisa with confusion. "So, is it because you stopped being faithful to your protectors that Dvalin is taking revenge? Also, as the Anemo Archon's attendant and a former protector of Mondstadt, you now call him Stormterror. That feels very strange to me."

Lumine kept a blank face. She stood to the side, watching Kael chat with the others. She finally realized a serious problem. The man she approved of might not be approved of by her alone. Kael had never shown himself in public since arriving in this world. He lived in his own small area and had not talked much with the outside world. Watching Kael chat and laugh with the two women, Lumine suddenly felt annoyed.

"Let's settle on this then," Kael said. "I think as long as we deal with Dvalin, Barbatos will not just stand by. Since you noticed Dvalin is using other temples to gain power, let's go cut off his path to absorbing elements first. Let's split up. I will go with you to break the elemental connections at the other temples. Amber, could you stay with Lumine and help her put up more missing person notices?"

Kael smiled. Seeing his decision, Jean and Lisa looked satisfied. "Having you choose to help us is exactly what we hoped for," Jean said.

Amber patted her chest and smiled. "I already promised to help you with the missing person notices. Of course, no problem."

However, Lumine was not happy. She looked at Kael with a forced smile. "What do you mean? Since everyone is busy with the Dvalin situation, what am I supposed to do staying alone in Mondstadt? Kael? In your heart, do you think I am just a weak girl?"
