The second meeting with House Glasya-Labolas was set for a rainy Thursday evening in a secluded ryokan on the outskirts of Kuoh. The Emperor had chosen the location with care — elegant, private, and far enough from the town center to avoid curious eyes, yet close enough to maintain control over the situation.
He arrived with Rias and Ravel. Akeno and Kiba remained hidden nearby as discreet security, while Asia and Koneko maintained watch over the clubroom and defensive perimeters. Raynare patrolled from the skies, ready to provide aerial intelligence if needed.
The representative this time was Lord Alaric Glasya-Labolas himself — a tall, silver-haired devil with sharp features and an aura of calculated ambition. He greeted them with a polite bow that carried just the right amount of respect without subservience.
"Lord Hyoudou, Lady Gremory, Lady Phenex," he said smoothly. "Thank you for accepting our invitation. After the events with Kokabiel, many houses have been… reevaluating their positions. We wished to speak with you directly."
The Emperor returned the bow with exact precision. "We are open to conversation. But understand that we do not seek alliances out of necessity. We build them from strength."
Lord Alaric smiled faintly as they took their seats in a private tatami room. Rain pattered softly against the paper screens.
"Strength is precisely what interests us," he replied. "You repelled a Cadre with a peerage that, by all accounts, should not have been capable of such a feat. That kind of power does not go unnoticed. House Glasya-Labolas has long maintained a policy of strategic neutrality, but recent shifts in the Underworld have made neutrality… risky. We are exploring options."
Rias spoke with calm regal authority. "And what exactly are you offering in exchange for any potential cooperation?"
Lord Alaric leaned forward slightly. "Information. Political leverage. Access to certain resources and trade routes that could benefit a rising power. In return, we seek protection and a voice in any future… realignments. Nothing formal yet. Merely the foundation of a mutual understanding."
Ravel, sitting slightly behind the Emperor, added her insight with careful precision. "House Glasya-Labolas has had tensions with several major clans, including Phenex. Any alliance would need to account for those existing rivalries. We would not wish to inherit old enemies without clear benefits."
The conversation continued for nearly two hours. Lord Alaric revealed fragments of his house's concerns — fear of being sidelined if new powers rose, dissatisfaction with the current balance among the 72 Pillars, and a desire to back a force that could challenge the status quo without immediate risk.
The Emperor listened more than he spoke, revealing only enough strength to intrigue while keeping the true extent of his abilities and the Fate Thief System carefully hidden. He answered questions about the battle with Kokabiel with measured vagueness, emphasizing coordination and determination rather than any singular anomaly.
By the end of the meeting, Lord Alaric rose with a respectful bow. "You are not what we expected, Fate Thief. We will be in touch. This conversation has been… enlightening."
As the carriage departed into the rain, Rias exhaled softly. "He was testing us the entire time. But he left wanting more. That's a good sign."
Ravel nodded. "House Glasya-Labolas is ambitious but pragmatic. They won't commit quickly, but they are leaning toward us. If we continue playing this correctly, more houses will follow."
The Emperor allowed a faint, cold smile. "One house at a time. We do not rush. We make them feel that aligning with us is the smart choice — not the desperate one."

Back at the clubroom that night, the Emperor held a full debrief with the peerage.
"The nobles are beginning to move in earnest," he told them. "House Glasya-Labolas is interested, but cautious. We will cultivate this relationship slowly. In the meantime, we continue strengthening our internal foundation. Training will increase. Defensive preparations will be reinforced. We do not celebrate early victories — we prepare for the next challenge."
Akeno, now fully secure in her place beside him, spoke with quiet confidence. "My lightning formations are ready to be expanded across more locations. If the nobles bring hidden guards or if Kokabiel attempts another probe, we'll be prepared."
Kiba added, "I'll continue refining my counters against holy energy. The Church agents have been unusually quiet lately. That silence worries me."
Asia smiled gently. "I'll keep everyone in top condition. We've grown so much already — I want to make sure we stay strong together."
Koneko simply nodded. "Ready for whatever comes."
Ravel, who had stayed for the debrief, looked around the room with a complex expression. "I never imagined I'd be part of conversations like this. My clan is still divided about how to approach you. But I… I'm starting to see the bigger picture. I may need a little more time, but I'm getting closer to making a decision."
The Emperor regarded her steadily. "Take the time you need, Ravel. But understand that every day you spend here pulls you further from neutrality. When you choose, it must be without reservation."
Ravel met his eyes and nodded slowly. "I know."
Later that night, in the quiet of his house, the Emperor stood by the window with Rias and Akeno. The rain had eased into a soft drizzle.
"The nobles are testing the waters," he said quietly. "Soon they will offer more than conversation. When they do, we will decide who is worthy of standing in our shadow."
Rias leaned against his left side. "And I will help you make that decision."
Akeno rested her head lightly on his right shoulder. "As will I."
The Emperor looked out into the rainy night, his eyes cold and ambitious.
The first invitations had been sent.
The noble whispers were turning into offers.
And the Fate Thief Emperor was ready to decide which ones would become part of his growing empire.
