Chapter 7 - Watch 7

I woke up. I must have fainted but due to what I know not. All I knew was what I saw must be seen again.

Tokkiel was before my bed, for I sat in the infirmary. "Do you know what you have seen?"

He said slowly and with deep concern.

"I saw something beautiful, beyond comprehension."

"Tokarn, that was Mir'Av. He has marked you as his heir."

"Heir?"

"Yes, we must wake Koutso. He will decide what we are to do with you."

"Wake Koutso? For me? He hasn't been awake since the second apocalypse." I shouted with despair.

"It will be as Koutso commands!" Tokkiel asserted and then quickly turned, walking away. All I heard was the sound of steps on the stone floor fading into the distance as I sat in the bed as worried as one could be.

No way in heavens would Koutso wake up for some conspiracy about me.

I rested as this bed was far more comfortable than my own.

I rested in bed, for it was all I was allowed to do. Before long three guards arrived and brought me to Koutso for the awakening.

They covered my eyes with a cloth so I would not see the path that led to the chamber for it was a secret but to those who were of high enough rank.

When we arrived, I need not be told for the lights shown through the cloth covering my eyes. They instructed me to take off the covering and behold my Lord.

His chamber was full of jewels plastered on the walls in every color. The form he took was that of a furred beast, a skull and antlers crowned him. Claws descended from his paws that were sharp even to my eyes. I trembled.

The ceremony began. Tokkiel lit the incense surrounding him.

All of the Hands of Koutso knelt to the floor of glowing stone. The lesser sentinels, Mirela included, all were gathered towards the outer wall. They soon began a chant directed by their superiors.

All of my senses peaked. The smell of incense, the colors of the light, the sounds of the chant, the vibration of it in my chest and feet. My veins were surging, my body tensed. I could no longer move.

Vision blurring, two sentinels came to hold and carry me to Koutso. I felt pressure everywhere. His presence was too much.

His eyes opened before me, great golden eyes full of endless ages of wisdom. They burned but I could not bring myself to close my eyes. They are forever branded in my memory.

With a booming voice he said with utter authority, "Who is this you have brought before me? Why have I been awakened Tokkiel?"
