Got you
CHAPTER — TOO LOUD
Jayjay's POV
The music was too loud.
Or maybe—
My thoughts were.
I didn't even want to come.
But staying at home felt worse.
Too quiet.
Too empty.
So I came.
Lights flashed.
People laughed.
Music echoed through my chest.
And I stood there—
Trying to feel something.
"Jay, relax!" my friend laughed, pulling my hand.
"I am relaxed."
"You look like you're about to cry."
"I'm fine."
I wasn't.
A drink was pushed into my hand.
I didn't think.
Just drank.
One sip.
Then another.
Warmth spread through me slowly.
Maybe this would help.
Maybe this would quiet everything.
The thoughts.
The memories.
Him.
Keifer Watson
No.
Not tonight.
"Come dance!"
I let her pull me.
Music surrounded me.
Bodies moved.
Lights blurred.
I moved too.
Not because I wanted to.
Because I needed to forget.
Another drink.
Then another.
My head felt light.
"See? You're enjoying now!"
Maybe.
Or maybe I just stopped caring.
A guy stepped closer.
"Dance?"
I hesitated.
Then shrugged.
"Sure."
We moved with the music.
Close.
Too close.
His hand brushed my waist.
And I didn't move.
Because I was tired.
"Jay…"
That voice.
Low.
Sharp.
My heart stopped.
I turned.
Keifer Watson
Standing there.
Eyes locked on me.
"Let go of her."
The guy stepped back immediately.
"What are you doing here?"
No answer.
Just—
"Let's go."
"I'm not going anywhere."
"You're drunk."
"I'm fine."
"I said let's go."
"No."
His hand wrapped around my wrist.
Firm.
Then suddenly—
I was in his arms.
"Put me down—!"
"No."
"I don't care."
And I didn't fight anymore.
Because deep down—
I felt safe.
The ride home was quiet.
Heavy.
My head spinning.
My thoughts worse.
The moment we reached—
He carried me inside.
To my room.
Set me down gently.
"Drink water."
I didn't move.
I just sat there.
And then—
It hit me.
"Do you know how much it hurt…?"
My voice shook.
"When you ignored me…"
Silence.
"I kept asking myself… what did I do wrong?"
Tears burned.
"Why wasn't I enough…?"
My voice broke.
"I tried… I really tried…"
"And you just… like I didn't exist."
Tears fell.
"I already lost someone…"
My voice dropped.
"And I couldn't even save him…"
My hands trembled.
"I didn't want to feel that again…"
"But you…"
I looked at him.
"You made me feel like I was nothing."
I turned away.
But I couldn't hold it anymore.
A sob escaped.
Then another.
And suddenly—
I was crying.
Breaking.
Completely.
Before I realized—
Arms wrapped around me.
I froze.
Then—
I held onto him.
Tightly.
Keifer Watson
I buried my face into him.
Crying harder.
"I didn't do anything wrong…"
"I tried…"
"So why did it hurt so much…?"
My grip tightened.
"Why did you make it hurt so much…?"
"I'm sorry."
His voice—
Low.
Real.
"…That day," he said quietly.
"With Keira."
My shoulders tensed.
"It wasn't what you think."
Silence.
"She slipped. I caught her. It wasn't intentional."
I didn't move.
"I should've explained."
I let out a tired laugh.
"…I don't care anymore."
But I didn't let go.
I couldn't.
Because right now—
I needed him.
And I hated that.

Keifer's POV
The moment I saw her—
Something snapped.
Not anger.
Something worse.
Because she didn't look okay.
She looked like she was trying not to feel anything at all.
And when that guy touched her—
I lost it.
I didn't think.
I just took her.
Brought her back.
Because I wasn't leaving her there.
Not like that.
Not when I knew—
She was breaking.
Now she was in front of me.
And then—
She shattered.
"Do you know how much it hurt…?"
Her voice—
Unsteady.
Raw.
"When you ignored me…"
My jaw tightened.
"I kept asking myself what I did wrong…"
That hit.
Hard.
"Why wasn't I enough…?"
I didn't have an answer.
Not one that mattered.
"I tried… I really tried…"
And I still—
Ignored her.
Like she didn't exist.
"I already lost someone…"
My gaze shifted.
"And I couldn't even save him…"
Liam.
I knew.
"I didn't want to feel that again…"
"But you…"
"You made me feel like I was nothing."
That was it.
That was where it broke.
Because she wasn't wrong.
I stepped forward.
Pulled her into me.
Carefully.
Like she'd break more if I didn't.
For a second—
She froze.
Then she held onto me.
Tightly.
Like she needed this.
Like she needed me.
And that—
That did something to me.
"I didn't do anything wrong…"
Her voice shook against me.
"I tried…"
My jaw clenched.
Because I knew she did.
"I'm sorry."
The words left before I could stop them.
I don't say that.
Not to anyone.
But to her—
It felt right.
Necessary.
Because this—
Was my fault.
"…That day," I said.
"With Keira."
She tensed.
"It wasn't what you think."
"She slipped. I caught her."
"It wasn't intentional."
Silence.
"I should've explained."
I didn't.
Because I didn't care then.
But I do now.
"…I don't care anymore."
That hurt.
More than anything else.
Because it didn't sound like anger.
It sounded like she gave up.
But she didn't let go of me.
Her hands still held onto my shirt.
Tightly.
Like she didn't want me to leave.
And I didn't move.
I just held her.
Because right now—
That's all she needed.
And maybe—
That's what I needed too.
Her grip tightened slightly.
Her breathing uneven.
And suddenly—
A memory flashed.
A smaller hand gripping mine.
Tightly.
Shaking.
"Don't let go…"
A voice.
Faint.
Desperate.
Blood.
Too much blood.
My jaw clenched instantly.
I pushed it away.
Not now.
Not this.
But it stayed.
That feeling.
Of someone holding onto me—
Like I was the only thing they had left.
And losing them anyway.
My arms tightened around her slightly.
Careful.
Protective.
This time—
I didn't want to be too late.
I didn't want to lose—
Not again.
So I stayed.
Holding her.
Letting her cry.
Not letting go.
Because for the first time—
I wasn't pushing someone away.
I was holding on
