Chapter 16 - The hidden route

Vivek stood still.

His mind focused—

on one thing.

The origin.

He took a slow breath.

Thinking carefully.

Then he murmured—

"I can find something…"

"From Lilly…"

"Or from Sara's diary…"

"Or her flat…"

A pause.

His eyes narrowed slightly.

Then—

another thought struck him.

"Or…"

His voice dropped.

"From that girl."

Silence.

"The one who entered the society…"

"And never left."

His expression turned serious.

"Maybe she didn't disappear…"

"Maybe…"

"She escaped."

A pause.

"From somewhere no one knows."

His eyes sharpened.

"A hidden route."

The thought clicked.

"This society hides more than we think…"

Without wasting a second—

he picked up his phone.

Called his team.

"Listen carefully," he said.

His voice firm.

"I want every possible detail…"

"About that girl."

"Who entered the society…"

"And never left."

A pause.

"And check every possible exit."

"Every hidden route."

"Every blind spot."

His tone turned colder.

"Because if she escaped…"

"She knows something."

Silence.

"And I want to find her…"

"Before someone else does."

Because somewhere—

that girl was the missing piece.

Without wasting time—

Vivek left his house.

His destination clear.

Lilly.

He reached her safe place.

She was sitting quietly.

Still recovering.

Vivek walked in—

and without saying much—

placed the knife in front of her.

"Look at this," he said.

Lilly's eyes moved toward it.

She leaned closer.

Her gaze fixed on the mark.

Silence.

Seconds passed.

Then minutes.

She didn't speak.

Didn't move.

As if—

something inside her was waking up.

A memory.

Long buried.

Vivek noticed it.

"What is it?" he asked.

Lilly's expression slowly changed.

From confusion—

to realization.

Her eyes widened slightly.

"I've seen this…" she whispered.

Vivek leaned forward.

"Where?"

A pause.

Lilly took a slow breath.

Then she said—

"On Ramesh's hand."

Silence.

Heavy.

Vivek froze.

His mind raced instantly.

Ramesh.

The same man—

Lilly had exposed years ago.

The same man—

involved in kidnappings.

But now—

this wasn't just about him.

This meant—

he was connected to the mark.

To the network.

To everything.

Vivek's eyes darkened.

"So you were never just a criminal…" he murmured.

"You were part of something bigger."

Because if Ramesh had the mark—

then he wasn't just involved…

he was marked by the mastermind.

After hearing that—

Vivek didn't say a word.

But his eyes—

said everything.

Ramesh.

The name echoed in his mind.

Again.

And again.

Without wasting a second—

he turned around.

And left.

His steps faster now.

More determined.

Because now—

he finally had a direction.

He reached home.

Went straight inside.

No pause.

No rest.

He started searching.

Drawers.

Files.

Old case records.

Everything.

As if he was looking for something—

he had missed before.

"Ramesh…" he murmured.

"You were right in front of me…"

His hands moved quickly.

Impatient.

Focused.

"Where are you hiding…" he whispered.

Silence filled the room.

But this time—

it wasn't confusion.

It was obsession.

Because now—

Vivek wasn't just solving a case.

He was chasing a man—

who might lead him—

to the mastermind.

And somewhere—

Ramesh was still connected to everything.

Just as Vivek was searching—

his phone rang.

He picked it up instantly.

"Sir…" an officer's voice came.

Urgent.

"We've found something."

Vivek's eyes narrowed.

"What?"

A pause.

Then—

"A hidden route… inside Gitanjali Society."

Silence.

For a second—

everything stopped.

Then—

Vivek moved.

Without wasting another moment—

he grabbed his keys—

and rushed out.

His mind already racing.

"A hidden route…" he murmured.

"So she didn't disappear…"

"She escaped."

His speed increased.

Within minutes—

he reached Gitanjali Society.

Officers were already there.

Waiting.

The moment he stepped in—

all eyes turned toward him.

"This way, sir," one of them said.

Vivek followed.

Through the narrow paths.

Past the buildings.

Until—

they stopped.

At a corner.

Covered.

Almost invisible.

Vivek stepped closer.

His eyes scanning everything.

"This…" he whispered.

"So this is how they moved…"

Silence.

Because now—

the mystery was opening.

Layer by layer.

And this route—

didn't just lead out of the society…

it led deeper into the truth.

Vivek stepped forward—

into the hidden route.

The path was narrow.

Dark.

Almost suffocating.

Dust filled the air.

As if no one had walked through it—

for years.

But the truth was—

someone had.

And not long ago.

Vivek moved carefully.

Each step slow.

Alert.

The officers followed behind him.

Silent.

Tense.

The deeper they went—

the quieter it became.

No sound.

No movement.

Only footsteps.

Echoing.

Then—

light.

Faint.

At the end.

Vivek walked faster.

And stepped out.

They had reached the end.

A road.

Empty.

Silent.

No people.

No vehicles.

Nothing.

Just stillness.

Vivek looked around.

"This place…" he murmured.

"No one comes here."

A pause.

Which meant—

it was perfect.

Perfect for moving unnoticed.

Perfect for hiding secrets.

His eyes scanned the surroundings.

Carefully.

Because this wasn't just an exit.

It was a connection.

Between the society—

and the outside world.

And somewhere on that silent road—

a clue was waiting to be found.

Vivek stepped onto the silent road.

His eyes scanned everything.

Carefully.

Left.

Right.

Nothing.

No movement.

No sound.

Just isolation.

"This route is perfect…" he murmured.

"For a criminal to escape."

A pause.

But then—

his expression changed.

His eyes fixed on something—

far away.

Unusual.

"Follow me," he said.

And started walking.

The team followed immediately.

Step by step—

they moved closer.

And as they approached—

the shape became clearer.

A structure.

Old.

Lonely.

A cottage.

Vivek stopped in front of it.

His eyes narrowed.

"A cottage… in the middle of nowhere?" he murmured.

"Strange…"

"Who lives here?"

Silence.

No answer.

No movement.

Nothing.

The place felt…

dead.

Vivek stepped closer.

The door stood in front of him.

Closed.

Locked.

He touched it slowly.

Cold.

As if it hadn't been opened—

for a long time.

Or maybe—

it had been closed…

to keep something inside.

Because sometimes—

the most isolated places…

hide the darkest secrets.
