The house finally settled into calm. The twins were fast asleep, curled up in their little beds, and Xavier had dozed off on the sofa after a long day of LEGO chaos.
I was in the kitchen, cleaning up a few stray pieces of LEGO and wiping the counters. The soft hum of the refrigerator and the faint rustle of the night outside were the only sounds.
Yushen appeared behind me, his presence warm and grounding.
"Anna…" he whispered, his hand brushing mine as I reached for a dish.
I turned, and our eyes met—dark, deep, full of unspoken longing. The moment was thick with everything we hadn't said, everything we'd held back.
He stepped closer, gently tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.
"I've wanted this… for so long," he murmured, voice low, husky with emotion.
I swallowed, my heart racing, and felt my hands tremble slightly.
"Me too," I admitted softly.
Without another word, he leaned in, capturing my lips in a deep, slow kiss. It was tender at first, full of longing and care, but quickly became more urgent, a release of years of unspoken desire. I responded, letting myself melt into him, feeling his warmth, his strength, the steady rhythm of his heartbeat against mine.
I felt him slide his hands gently down my back, pulling me closer. I rested my hands on his shoulders, trying to anchor myself, knowing the twins were just a few rooms away.
"Yushen…" I whispered, breaking the kiss slightly, my voice trembling. "We… we have to be careful… the kids…"
He rested his forehead against mine, breathing slowly, eyes soft but smoldering.
"I know," he said, his thumb brushing lightly over my cheek. "I just… need to feel you. Just this once… to remind us of us."
I nodded, letting him pull me closer again, kissing me gently, exploring, tasting, and holding—but still restrained, aware of our boundaries and the preciousness of this moment.
For a long while, we simply held each other, sharing warmth, whispered confessions, and soft touches, letting the world fall away. The house was silent, the children asleep, and the night belonged to us alone.
Eventually, I pulled back, resting my head against his chest, breathing heavily but smiling.
"Not too far," I murmured, tracing gentle circles on his chest.
"Not too far," he echoed, pressing a kiss to my temple, his hand sliding over my back. "But… I've wanted this for so long, Anna."
"I know," I whispered. "And I've wanted you too… just… slowly."
We stayed like that for a long time, holding each other, feeling the closeness we had waited years for. The passion, the love, and the connection simmered between us—intense, tender, and full of promise for what was to come.
Finally, we pulled away slightly, hands still intertwined, smiles soft but hearts racing.
"Tomorrow," he whispered. "We'll figure everything… together."
"Together," I echoed, leaning into him one last time before heading to the bedroom, hearts still thundering, minds still entwined, and our love burning brighter than ever.
